In all kind of games the more stuff and the better the suff what is equipped the higher are the maintenance cost. Suggestion: Increase maintenance and in battle repair cost depending on used modules Details: modules are already categorized as basic and non-basic, for example, Basic Pump and Coles Bentick Pump While "basic" mods only suffer a slight increase in repair and battle repair cost "non-basic" mods can suffer repair penalties increase up to 200% For example: An installed coles bentick pump would increase hull repair cycle cost by 100% for each extra module of the same type - cost increases by extra 100% For example: coles pump + chain pump = basic repairs + 100% for the first module + 100% for the second module + 100% for being a second module of the same type - pump Pros: quality of life added maintenance for high grade specialized ships simulates highly specialized crew and necessity of high grade quality parts for repairs at sea Cons: quality of life

I kind of agree on that. Thats why I added 2 different rates for the event ships. But my hope is (has to be tested) that the majority of players that play quiet in a corner (because of reasons no time to replace lost ships for example) try out the beauty of player vs player combat. Yes some might fall by the wayside just like (picture below) But I still hope the majority will be able to enjoy that should be part of patrol area feedback. Like I said in an other topic " The most fair patrol is Nassau Patrol because shallow ships are almost equal in their fighting capability" And that is an major issue regarding open for all ships zone + frigate zone

The suggestion: Admiralty offers every player for the duration of a week 3 event vessels of 2 different rates ( rates and vessels are RNG but for all players the same) for free To Devs: Some time ago a rework of the Redeem function was announced, implementation could be achieved through a new tab like "Weekly Event redeem" Details: Every player receives 3 ships out of 2 different rates. The ships are equal for all players Wood,build-ins are determined by admiralty perma mods cant be equiped only certain books are allowed claimed or unclaimed ships get deleted after their event week to make room for the next 3 ships Those ships are called for example "Event Cerberus" (they cannot enter pbs, but have normal RoE and can be used in OW) They cannot be captured or used as fleet can not be traded Event ships have reduced pve reward in order to guide players towards pvp *edit* How outfitting with determined books could work: Pros: reducing fear of loss guide players to all kind of different ships they normally wouldnt use reducing fear of loss give access to ships even for casuals all players become competitive by giving them "equal equipment" skill matters Cons: Could be used to troll people because free ship - but kind of same like ow captured AI ships and quantity is limited to 3 each week for every account. /discuss

Isn't sinking people rewarded? Am I missing something? Why add reward ontop of a reward? Or is it just about the VM? Why screeners don't do their own on? Why they still come to screen if there are currently no rewards? Kiting should never be rewarded and that seems to be what is asked for. Free VM for denying Pb entrance.

Ingame replay function could be the solution for personal reputation reward. But rewards are: keeping the port getting PvP Marks for sunken ships getting XP and Gold

If reward is so important why not ask to get paid for your screening duty with VM (when denying enemy fleet to enter the pb or help the attack fleet to reach portbattle)😉 Its kind of our own fault that we do it for free^^ Normal rewards for battles are already in place I dont see a reason why "griefing" aka delaying the enemy to enter a pb should be rewarded in a massive way. If the battle would actually be fought it would reward itself.

Why is screening so desirable? Maybe anyone would like to add pros and cons. Pros: It let you "win" without fighting the actual battle Other do the job = safes own gear by risking others Cons: Portbattle fleet gets useless In worst case wasting 25 guys time hit and run battles ( goal is to not let the enemy pb fleet enter) abusing new players as cannon fooder In my opinion the best way would be pb fleet vs pb fleet as screening battles with outcomes that can benefit both sides. Wouldnt that lead to quality fights?

disconnect in ow = can still be attacked for 2 mins Leave the game in OW = can still be attacked for 2 mins Disconnect in instance = ship drops sail and after 10min AI takes over and tries to escape at best point of sail Disconnect when "battle is over" = places your ship in OW maybe you are talking about this one here?

The quickest way to rank up is to do the tutorial and get M&C rank. M&C is fine to start pvping. The need to be max lvl is a deception developed by mmos like World of Warcraft and other games where high tier always beats low tier. NA isnt such a game personal skills vs enemy skill matters more than ship rate. The need to get full Ship knowledge is an other deception. New players dont have books other the standard ones. Missions offer no books because of reduced loot (only ow ships not in the carezone have high chance for books) So actually new players that have no clue about the drop mechanic wasting their time by doing missions. Furtheremore I got told in many occasions that mods + books are overrated that their bonus is so small that they actually change nothing so why waste time here? Missions are a fake feature that trick the player. The player thinks that he is doing something that will reward him but actually he is shooting oneself in the foot. He places oneself into a spiral of grind that lets him not enjoy the game. So I welcome any advance that breaks this grind spiral and that let the players see clear. Missions are a thorn in the side that do more harm than good. -

Sure people team up look Spain and Russia in their best time. But the difference between an in-game mechanic and player made alliances are trust. Trust can be lost in so many ways and player made alliances are therefore hard to maintain which is good. It allowes a fluid evolution of power. Sweden-> Russia -> "Prussia"-> Dutch While game mechanic alliances made it static west vs east. The biggest fail of the old alliance system was to grant green status to alliance members. An alliance should have never given friendly status (green) to an enemy nation. It should always be yellow(indicates alliance) but has same rules like enemy (red). When I look at national news then drama is what people are looking for. No drama possible with green enemies. Alliances are the gank grps of RvR -

We have no names on OW because people teamed up and did not fight each other. So why would alliances between clans/nations of different nations make the game better? In the end it will just be like before. Biggest clans team up because thats "easy" like ganking is easy. -

Your suggestion is almsot the same as the alliance system before. Biggest clans (before by player numbers) now by (ports) decide what the "hole" nation has to do. It was bad and it will still be bad -
Sorry I was Ofc assuming it will be a gank and when smart ganking better join downwind to secure the kill. I even gave an example of a specific situation so why I confuse people? To play safe and be useless upwind is better thats right. In most cases a fight between square riggers evolves downwind. Spawning upwind will put you far away. Enemy when outnumbered will run away giving no chance to catch him. When friendly side is outnumbered you can spawn in the fight and making it easier for your team to team up because you don't interrupt battleflow (battle normally evolves downwind). Disadvantage is Ofc you make your own escape difficult but who joins a ongoing battle to run away?

Lets assume a friendly square rigger tagged an enemy square rigger the best point to join is downwind. Doing so will deny enemy to run. But that include that friendly square rigger (green) can 1on1 the enemy for some time if red starts to fight Joining at the blue dot is useless in the situation above. Its useless to chase with 2 ships 1 enemy. Better is to cut off the escape. That vid might help as well:
