i would start with changing more guns = more everything. The reward should be tied to difficulty and not to dmg dealed. Currently why should I use a frig when i can get way more of everything when I use a SOL?

that are Galleons and pleasure boats that had logos on sails. not really fitting in the current game setting. But clan pennant/banners might be an option. -

If its not a hidden suggestion to reduce rum prices then the missmatch of rum availability at certain locations is created due to the fact that selling rum at useless ports generates less profit over time for traders. Why risk when you can have it almost safe in homewaters and high risk + high profit at freetwons and be certain to sell it? Because of that we would need to cure the root and not to try to cure by symptoms. -

the problem I see is that rum is player made and the rest like cider tea is meant to be AI production. -
in the patrol area you can get way more dmg in less time by shooting sails than hull. I see no issue with chain here. The real pain is that a gank fleet gets the full reward for a sunken ship. If BR ratio is benefiting one side in a huge amount the reward for the sunken ship has to be reduced as well. So not 9 marks splitted for 5 people that sunk one lonely guy. Instead they get for example 4 marks divided by the 5 guys.

if the intention is safe but not invulnerable area - mission accomplished Why? Because imba 1st rates made it impossible to raid, yet it is possible under risk to still raid enemy shipping in the fleet reinforcement area. But as always new players dont benefit by those reinforcement fleets because they dont know how to call they run in the wrong direction they dont stick with the reinforcement fleets -
DD penalize small ships ontop of other penalties like chain limitations for killing a ridiculous amount of crew (up to 82% of the enemy crew) before the boarding can happen. I agree small ships should have penalties in boarding against bigger ones but DD makes it on top of the existing ones just a WTF situation. By the way why DD doesn't protection smaller ships what is the answer to that?

One upcoming change will be that everyone has to join a clan. Therefore why not rally all the lone traders and build a west Indies company? With all their benefits? Wouldn't be that awesome and realistic?

What about to make trader tool refresh depending on clan player visits. Let's say whenever a member of a clan enters a port the trader tool entries for the hole clan refreshes for that specific port.

I agree that trading at capitals or freetowns is much easier and rewarding than it is on random locations. - Less time consuming -less risk - more potential buyers - wider good spectrum Sure contract visibility could solve that. But the argument against it, is information spread in the age of sail. Like there was no GPS there was no instant message flow. It's part of the age of sail experience there was only word to mouth recommendation or newspapers. To keep it in the current game setting I would suggest to do it like the trader tool and offer a once per maintenance updated contract list. Same as the trader tool it's possible to search for contracts.

By knowledge tree you are talking about you unlock ship points (like knowledge solts right now) and with this points you could invest them into (for example) boarding and you get access to boarding books? With the next ship point you could unlock even more boarding books or you choose ship handling and get some speed books unlocked. You are not talking about that you need to use the merc to unlock progression for the cerb right? (like tested in patch 10)
