  1. In this situation would capture count as kill ? I rather capture the ships than sunk them.
  2. I think you did not understand. Damage farming is an accord between two players. Not a situation where a peace loving landlubber refuses to fight and accuses the attacker of doing so.
  3. thanks for the snip. sometimes it is better to let know that the systems in place are not final but have a purpose for future mechanic implements.
  4. Back in this timeframe everyone would do everything to... Survive. Centuries later... Damage control is a pretty recent systems setup with assigned teams for crisis, most obvious being world war 2 USN CVs damage control. Even back in WW1 the idea was still so-so with ship parts being assigned to locals instead of a centralized system.
  5. The proto system worked fine during sea trials Voi_Ta. Make no mistakes. Abnormal occurrences will not go through. I remember several testers having their progress reset to null during Trials because of it. A mix between automated system and human eye on details will provide more than enough reason to string them up the gallows.
  6. I am enjoying every single bit the devs been doing for so long. Their vision and workflow is paying off with highest product standard. Let's not go through the "shopping for features" venue. We payed, pay, and will pay for excellence.
  7. Killing crew can give up to 0.5 xp points per crewman slain under certain conditions. Boarding surely gives more.
  8. True that. Wrote without too much thought over it. I seem to be immune to exploits myself but yeah some folks just seem to be naturally apt to find loopholes.
  9. Surrendering, in a game perspective, should lend to no loss of Durability but loss of Rank.
  10. Had great fun back in trials. The gale was tremendous and if the damage to rig was modelled... oh my... having to endure a storm instance would be somewhat interesting nowadays. Could even give XP.
  11. Hurricane season. You can see it coming on OW from the distance... Change course or get to port... fast.... faaaster ! Countering it would simply come to that. Avoid it or get to safe harbour. One could venture going through the storm at one's own peril.
  12. All valid and hope the devs look to them. So far they never failed in their vision for the game though. There are still a lot of world mechanics to implement if you rummage through development threads. The wipe situation is not IF but more WHEN.
  13. As a family guy I hear you. And yes, that is why they stated Rank XP should stay.
  14. Fear not, there's 3 survivors from the battle. One of them is on display on the Greenwich museum. Quite a exemplary private collector.
  15. They cannot wipe the experience acquired about how to play the game, handle the ships, etc. So I am fine with armaggedon.
  16. Put the masts in neutral deflection before you aim( straight angles ). The roll effect will be highly reduced. Keep an eye on the sea.
  17. Nice work. I am sure it will help a lot of folks.
  18. No idea how you have them setup but it could just be the entire data center being under ddos and not only your server specifically.
  19. AI could have a Threat meter tied to Battle Rating. Game really needs a Fleet group mechanic to be setup upon creation of a conquest flag.
  20. A flotilla of 3 -4 ships is more than enough. A couple buddies playing together, that is all.
  21. I do not care about the prices IF I get to interdict trade for other nations and DENY them the goods, therefore bringing it to our nation markets. You see, there is more to PVP than the simple mindless rank chase. With this system the market gets flooded by virtually endless goods and soon the market gets flooded with ships no one will buy. Given the "historical credibility" of NA a chase frigate like the Cerberus was really expensive to order let alone a 3rd rate and above. Those should be Nation efforts and not simply automated return trips. Both opinions have their merits I think so we must try to reach a smart compromisse so the devs can look to and see as a good implementation solution for the entire game and overall fun. As it is is totally shallow to interdict trade, although I have fun doing it I would be more interested if those same chases and prizes taken would have na impact on the trade system.
  22. Totally this. Sums up Naval Action as a multiplayer game. Regarding what is the course of action to take it all comes up to you diggler, or any other player. For me it is the small flotilla interdictions. Hit trade hard and fast. Capture ships and get their goods. Primarily traders of course but also valuable ships. Our best militar vessel prize so far was a frigate capture with a snow, a navy brig and a niagara. Good fun and everyone kept at their best performance. Trader Snows even with escort are pretty much our everyday catch. We having fun and learning together.
  23. If it is the vocabulary used in the game interface I think Company could be used, being the most common during this time period. Regarding the meta gaming with the groups themselves we already use Armada, Company, Crew, Fleet, etc so everything is fine. I agree that the word clan is very shallow.
  24. Fair changes especially at the small group flotilla level.
