Thanks for your time on this. Great reads. Gives way more life to the whole thing.

He will still have a defense value. It is an option like any other on the system. Some actions have better attack, worse defense. Disengage would simply work the same. For example Fire Deck Guns has massive attack power but if faced with an Attack option the casualties will be pretty similar to both sides. That's how the system works and Disengage should not work differently. Plus you cannot look only at the crew number. Morale touches zero. Bam, it is all over, no matter how many crew you have. They give up and surrender.

The Delivery ( AI teleport ) system albeit expensive is very good to move enormous amounts of tonnage around BUT... it is invisible as well. Delivery system could effectively generate the AI traders that make the hauling and thus give even more traffic and thus if they are intercepted and captured... tough luck. Denying resources is as important as taking ports. Hopefully further down he development we can see this happen.

Nah, simply thinking about having trader routes actually populated instead of the usual AI which have no effect whatsoever in the economy. TP surely skips the time spent of having to sail but also eliminates any good chance of a enemy ship intercepting the trader and its cargo. Indeed a 50/50 situation.

Combined Boarding

Oh yes. -
It is not a popular one, this I know BUT give her some love and learn how she likes to do things and she will repay in prized traders worth twice her worth. I do like her a lot. It is like a mammoth privateer. Runs low, runs fast, rolls quick, turns and tumbles nicely. Sails close to wind better than the Snow counterpart. It is sort of fragile but it will catch any trader you see. They cannot run away. Seen a few being sold in the Dutch territories from 80k and up.

Also Morale cannot reach ZERO. Or else... it all ends... -
Disengage option should NULL any other option, which is not the case at the moment. You can put the rounds ticking and still chose any other order at the same time if there is Preparation ready. On top of that the defense potential should be lower than Brace. BUT it should be possible to interrupt my own order to Disengage if I select any other option. If not it continues to tick. Pretty much like Defend.

You need enough crew for the capture after a successful boarding. Has been like this forever. Graping down to zero crew will leave the ship open for capture which ( read above ) if no one captures it and everyone exit the battle goes to the captain with enough crew that was closer to the ship ( theory, we've been testing this during our interdiction but seems to be that way as opposite to damage ). -
NPC Disengage.

I am sure this is a "mid phase" until the Developers put a better system in place. Get your grips together and take a step back. Given the combat potential of the Free Cutter is very high, especially in groups, the flogging and hangings must proceed until order is established. -
That's pretty much a pilot cutter, nothing to do with the sea faring vessel. I would put our own cutter closer to a Ketch. Same broadside length of six carriages. Only difference is the aft mast. It is a lot of mass. The impact will not break the keel but the cutwater boards would surely snap.
-
Timber shivering from violent collision...structure cohesion lost... water starts pouring in fast... Also 9 knots is pretty damn fast for a Snow mass colliding against anything. You will receive quite a shock and fatal damage hitting anything that isn't at the very best 1/10 of your mass which isn't the case of the Cutter. Not even pumps will help you.

Hardcore Server One
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Hussar's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I do like the 1 durability. The rest of the topics are simply too vague, given the Admiralty future mechanics so who knows what is in store The 1 durability would radically change the game for better in my opinion. For one the prize capture of ships could flow into the market and provide healthy competition to crafters by providing alternatives and making them craft better models than the ones that could be captured. So much more interesting prices from the basic crafting materials down to the finished ships. No need to call it hardcore but would totally play on it as a first choice. -
So far so good I had the plasure of having some good Basic Cutters folk enter my chases. Nice exchange of talk and doubts lifted and some tips shared. I can remember one situation where the action was overwhelming and the steering was sub-par but it can happen. I take it more as my responsability as a senior captain to keep an eye on the situation and avoid any course that lead to a collision.

Flags, Ensigns, Banners
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
The size of that castillian banner is just absurd or was it used in the rigs ? The union one I saw on a article from a while ago after being auctioned. "Experts" claimed it still retained the smell of gunpowder... -
Flag Captain Missions and above
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Trebs's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Four buddies, each choose two missions, we then select optimum route through them all. Big xp and profit for all. We usually do 6 missions in two hours if we want to capture prize ships. Solo ? No way after 4th rank. -
Pace of ship combat
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Soler's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
It more about time spent "fighting" for position than speed. The pace is quite spot on. -
IIRC the pirate one has more crew. Can someone confirm this for good after EA open ?
