  1. Collision danger Signaling should be in yes. I use a cycle of 6-7-6-7-... to have the whistles going on but I am unsure if the sounds are truly server side.
  2. How to deal with farming? Test and Report and Understand that Sea Trials is not the game. Also share this information to your friends that want to invest money and time in Naval Action.
  3. Next time go Free Camera beneath the waves. The Kraken is underneath. He's taking the prize to its lair... Funny glitch though. I board a lot of ships and they always go furled sails and stay there. Have yet to see a unfurled sails ghost ship
  4. No one will risk it after the release of the game. Open World ramming translates in full loss of ship. In Sea Trials ? Sure. Actually the collisions have to be worked on by the devs so a ram here and there can benefit us all. Stop treating Sea Trials as a full game.
  5. It is the same with all nations historical archives. Pay to research and pay to copy. I suggest you discuss any particular ship with them Devs and then reach a compromise if they are worth to research and then having them in game. Having all the information ( especially plans with MEASUREMENTS ) are half way through. Easier to focus on one or two models and work your way through the archives. On top of that you gain nice reputation with the museum/archive teams. They love to help.
  6. Ramming Action ?
  7. Yes, can save you in OW for sure. Remember, we are commanding ships with no cargo weight Really hope all guns, carriages, supplies and cargo gets calculated in. Obviously.
  8. Why not start with yourself ? That's how change happens Not saying YOU as yourself, but YOU as each one of us. Be with the good guys, be as good. Be with the bad folk, you will turn twice as bad. Old saying in my country, valid in every generation and in every community.
  9. IIRC rolling broadside is being implemented. As an adaptation to gameplay an simple keystroke will suffice for bow to stern roll.
  10. Ah good examples. Let's say a privateer versus a trincomalee. I'd say it is more of a comparison of speed. Santissima purpose is to battle other ships of the same rate not to be patrolling coastal waters hunting for privateers. A Trinc might intercept though if the Privateer comes into range.
  11. Must say that putting this into practice is another level of fun. Would be great if more and more folks would put it into practice
  12. Having been a derp addict of Fighting Steel I approve of such a endeavor in a future project.
  13. Smaller does not mean faster. Gameplay must not be built around this illusion. Game must be built with correct numbers ( as far as possible ) and then leave the players to use the ships to their best and worst qualities.
  14. Should be calculated as correctly as possible given the computing limitations ( and production constraints ) in regards of physics and ships structure.
  15. Smaller ships have less sail area therefore carry less wind. They are also lighter. A frigate ratio between weight and sail area surpasses the smaller ships we have at the trader level. No, a smaller ship is not hard to catch with a purpose ship. And yes I agree we cannot be tracing comparisons from the death match of Sea Trials towards the OW dynamic.
  16. Sounds good. Eager to test the implementation of these
  17. A follow up interdiction and any sequential interdiction can be made of course. Maybe a cool down timer with fog of war can be put in place, kind of simulating the "we lost sight of them" situation. Without a "cause" to engage you will be listed as "kill on sight" if you attack a ship IIRC from some of the posts. It is a choice, a way to play through. Obviously if you playing a Captain under a navy flag and intercepting enemy trade it is another matter entirely... So there is nothing, and there shouldn't be, that stops a ship attacking and harassing traffic in well known trade lanes. Sandbox, freedom of path, consequences from actions. Sums it up.
  18. Ah... the old adage of asking the system to replace our brains... Why not NOT use any offensive vocabulary ? That would save development time in the project
  19. Maybe setup a index thread with links to the ideas and suggestions posted so far could be helpful. ? For us and for the devs. Given limited time per buck for production roaming the forums is important but not that much when compared with keeping up with the project planning. Also throw people at the History forum bibliography. Has great value and will demystify a lot of pre-conceptions less learned players might have about the age of sail.
  20. I guess it will be like any other chance encounter in similar open world games - positioning, extension, evasion. Timer is just there to make it worthwhile Admin, can instances be joined by others ? Say like a coastal patrol coming to aid a trader in distress.
  21. Of late I've been advising the team to stay with the wind. Gives us more options and keeps everyone aligned even when scissoring to let go both broadsides fire. Most collisions occur when, for some unexplainable reason, captains decide to reverse and go across the wind. Obviously another ship coming full speed will have no space to evade. Other than that I keep a 400 yards distance from friendlies that are not on TS. Obviously a chat message is in order if one can anticipate, but after the crash it is only meaningful for the future so no need to get that much angry. It is a learning process and a bad temper does not help.
  22. Win = put out of commission At least in my book. Sinking is not winning all the time. Obviously a schooner will never sink a heavy frigate, but can put it out of commission by superior seamanship and gunnery. This being said there is no need to reduce the historical credibility of the game mechanics towards the artificial "skill" of balance.
  23. Yes I did. The text wasn't directed at you particularly but to the overall discussion Pre made teams was possibly before if I read correctly some other thread but for obvious TESTING ALPHA reasons it was disabled. In short, every game has its own competitions. ESports is another thing completely. I reckon there is a confusion in interpretation.
  24. I am sure Roccat Power Grid can accommodate that need
