  1. Redeemables are usually a "on release" thing. Meaning they come and go at devs whim during testing phases and get definite upon final edition release.
  2. A well versed corsair intercepted by 3 or 4 others will surely cripple one of them before disengaging. Sailing skill matters twice as much as consistent shooting without needing ranging shots which matters twice as much as the ships being used. That is why I said a custom built ship is the best way to go. You will order it based on your experience with all the ships and that one class specifically, not just rank. I am affraid many captains overlook the obvious for the sake of numbers and names in a screen and then cry that the wiki is wrong and that this or that should be slower or how the hell it turned so fast... They hardly know their ships... It wouldn't matter if it is 5 or 3 or even 1 life.
  3. Indeed sir, I was thinking simply on the amount of lives mechanics while capturing ships is rather easy silly if a captain is a half decent half witted Corsair. Sorry for the short coming. Shouldn't we hold fast and wait for the Production and Manufactoring updates coming, that, quoting devs, will change the crafiting and trade gameplay completely ? Regarding the quality of ships I don't even have a look at any of the city lists anymore no matter player or NPC built. Custom orders are by far the best option. They come exactly as specified as long as you find a good crafter. The 5 durability thinng is okay in all built ships.
  4. XP is rewarded for damage. End. There is no grey area. Sinking is simply a result of damage done.
  5. Hear hear. As I ususally say, I love this game to the core for some childish reason. It will become way more polished than it is now, so yes, wipe the dust as much as needed to make it superb.
  6. It is a placeholder. I can imagine a few mechanics coming up in the future where they become useful. Let's wait. I usually read them to check any players around the flotilla área of intervention, seldom share them on chat though.
  7. I do not disagree. It is a double edge blade though.
  8. If you do more damage to the enemy than to your friendlies it will be positive. Is not out of hand. Seem folks ramming each other and blasting through rigging just to get a go at the towers... yes, it is out of hand for some jackals.
  9. Men under the yoke of a european power are expected to die at their posts if the need arises. If everything else is failing ( and the water is pouring in ! ) ram them like the trirremes of old !!! Back to regular line of thought... ... no idea how this can be implemented at this moment given there is no Nation mechanics going on. I think we should wait and not get carried away that much by the events in the map, after all we testing the system live as it is being built. Plus we have no ONE NATION, we have more like a confederacy of clans under one colour... what to do... what to do...
  10. I do not agree on this. It is no incentive at all. The incentive is to know that exploiters are dealt with so stay safe, play safe, have fun.
  11. No, and I completely and utterly would promote the 1 durability all across the board after 4th rank and open the market to prized ships.
  12. Friendly damage gives negative XP. Can this be your issue ?
  13. You fail to read the rule. 2 players or more. no npc involved.
  14. Enjoy a lot this little corner. Ye need to take port and scribble down
  15. Actually this mechanic could be Pirates only. Giving their sort of nomadic background. They simply could buy out a move capital to another port. Something like... a lot of cash.
  16. The brig is very capable to tacking back and away at any haul while your cutter has a run down face wind. As soon as you reverse your turn you lose it. AI is way less capable than a human is. For the sake of stating the obvious, my navybrig ( way heavier than the brig but with more sail ) versus 2 cutters plus 2 lynx, spanish player fleets, were sunk in short order just because of that. ( their bravery was noted on the captain's log of course. they did not back down. excelente battle ) AI uses manual control, humans do as well. It makes the brig one of the best corsair options. My suggestion using the cutter is to mind your speed and kite the bow instead of Stern weave.
  17. Assists work for group & missions IIRC ? Not sure about the battles. Check end battle score details ( title bar, click ) and see what is there.
  18. Seen this before. Seeing it again. The crew of the UPP Hyena rejoices with the action taken although sad by the reasons that lead to it. Never an easy thing to punish severely, that's for sure.
  19. I can agree with the presented logic regarding the nature of the mechanic, although I think Survival is quite spot on. I remembre the first fights back in the day and the very first things I did was to test the UI thoroughly to know what was what. Only after that was accomplished did I try to do more complicated things. Still cannot thing in any other words other than Survival and Pump given the sole action triggered is to pump the water out to keep her afloat and survive, unlike Repairs which have some more focused sub actions.
  20. Do struck a few bargains with shady privateer captains of doubtful renown. Buy them all they capture from prize ships at their base port. Gives you good flow of items, saves them time the travels. Both sides will have fun and a steady flow of rum around the negotiations table
  21. I dislike the Black OR White options. Where would a privateer fall into this ? This captain is a humble sea dog that simply captures shipping so to provide hard working craftsmen their quota of resources. XP and Gold are simple commodities for this captain and can easily be exchanged for rum and stern wenches so to speak. It is all about the prey and the catch. Fame and Infamy. Voted none as none gives way to diversity of game play choices.
  22. No idea. One prize after the other, no time to do much except cleaning the decks and the guns.
  23. damage farming is not normal combat, read it through, it is something ABNORMAL. a bad player, a fleeing player, etc do not fall under this. players that simply decide to give each other maximum xp under suspicious circumstances will be flagged and reviewed. simple as that.
  24. Hear hear. Stripped of all their belongings, flogged upon reaching port and having their standing reduced to deck soap.
