Capturing AI vessels
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Quarios's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
You talk about a situation where you are prepared.... I mean they attack you on when you are not. As opposite to passive. But Galileus answers in a more sarcastic manner that touches the very nature of the issue at hand. -

Capturing AI vessels

AI is passive and not challenging at the moment. That's what I think about it. So it is easy to replace the losses. -
Heeling Degrees
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Kleinburger's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Degrees relate to the ship resting position on the level sea and works to both boards. Negative would make no sense. -

Sir, I always speak two fold, my own direct experience with the state of the game. Screen fleets are more important than Port Battles at this moment. A Conquest flag can be lost to a decided screen fleet of Cerberus and smaller ships even. Rushing to a bigger ship doesn't mean a thing and you will be a liability for your team unless you learn it all in a week or two... which won't happen. Plus port battles are two fold, shallow water which can be joined by the smaller ships ( not worse !!!! smaller. ) and the deep water ports which can only be joined by the bigger ships ( not better !!!! bigger. ). You can also actively put yourself to the test in the open world. Do your missions and trader attacks on the contested areas. When you spot enemy sails attack. Loss is temporary and important lessons are learned. As a final note, find a good flotilla of buddies and share the fun. Six privateers can make any big ship sunny day into a storm -

A Scandinavian alliance could shatter the fabric of the world at this point... ... and still retain the challenge of being surrounded... ... after all combined fleet actions are at an arms length to both south east and west... -
Marked with the Black Spot - NO LONGER USED

Ah ! Glad for my recet outpost in Key West then. Seems these unruly sons of a black flag are due a visit. Any entrepeneur captain trying to catch a prize at the 13 States shall be put to the bottom by non stop rolling fire, courtesy of the dutch privateers. -

You idea is not far fetched but with the opportunity presented by the PvE servers and one character per server the whole new comer scenario is covered by that simple fact. You may learn the basic interface and overall feel of the game. Onwards. With a fair margin of doubt there is a misconception regarding rank. Rank gives you nothing but crew allowance. This gives you nothing but the opportunity to command ships that require more crew. The end. Other than that is simply a question of learning, practicing, trying different things. Make no mistake, any powerful ship commanded by a inapt commander is a liability. Best advice, do not rush through the food chain. Learn all the ships points of sail, try different gunnery setups, and use manual sailing all the time. You will find your own sweet spot with certain ships and select your favourites. A well commanded Navy Brig, example for a underdog ship, can be a nightmare to a badly commanded frigate. The spectrum can be even wider... -
1. Who is the government ? 2. We pay increasingly double tax per outpost license. 3. Only tiny bit I see defective is the Free Ports. They should really have less docking places. 4. Admiralty mechanics for fleet maintenance are not in place nor any mechanic for individual captain to pay for supplies and crew shares. This Zerg wave is not a concern at the moment IMO. We are testing and showing that some essential mechanics must be prioritized. Come Spring with land and renewed ports and we might see a change. Step by step,

Avis aux Capitaines Français !
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to verseaux's topic in Naval Action (en français)
Thank you. Dictionairy gives a hand on the vocabulary. Must say that the hit and run and pursuits all along the stretch has been awesome. More so when we catch Oriflame corsairs in the open after they jumped some missions takers It shows the gentlemen that feel the lack of pvp in the game that maybe they are on the wrong side of the world. Avant la révolution! Vive la mort des rois et des empereurs et l'élitisme. -

Missions difficulty
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Doc_Watson's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
The Admiralty mission reward is player only. Assists, kills, and overall damage rewards are in place for the entire group. We may be missing specific group missions but does not exclude the aforementioned flag captain mission setup being aimed at a player flotilla. Plus IIRC we found every type of ship except for pirate frigate and vic/santi/bellona. And yes Trinc spawns as well. -

European traders - explained
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
It would collapse of course. Higher bidders would absorb entire productions with no chance for lower bidders. As we have, for contracts, is a stable bid pricing which although seems inflated ( 300% +1 ) is the same for every single player. Many trade runs will yield you stock 100% prices. The more population the less resources available at stock prices as more traders make runs. -
European traders - explained
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Not that different from what the West India Company did back in the day. But, regarding gameplay the European prices are open and exactly the same to everyone. Resources will be shared among all contracts placed in any given town. It is not like any organization can force the traders to sell only to them. If the price is met ( IIRC 3 times base price +1 ) the traders will fill in your contract as well. -

Guns suggestion

Carriages sizes. It is almost never about the guns directly but about the carriages volume.
