You have already a pure PvP server - whether you want to do it or not is all your decision sir. Take your ship, your rank and get into a enemy nation waters, set an outpost in a free port deep in their turf and do it. I am totally in disbelief with the suggestion given the opportunity is there already. What stops you from doing it ? That is my question.

As a community it is imperative to work as whole especially because not all of new comers and early backers actually wish for the same exact things. It is great that many focus on the big strategy and port conquest. Others call to attention to open sea combat situations. We all have ideas, we all have different academic backgrounds, coding, history, and above all hobbies and passion for this game. No idea is lost. Many will be disregarded as not doable or not in scope but some are definitely included.

Yes it would be beneficial IF the crafting notes system would be final, which is not the case as it will be reviewed and adjusted by rate. If anything 1st and 2nd rates 1 dura, 3rd and 4th 3 dura, rest 5 is fine. Would simply remove the Free cutters from any possibility of pvp gain of xp and credits. It really doesn't matter that they have 5 duras, they are immortal sponges of xp and creds without any risk of loss

Crews should always fight fire
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Quineloe's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Agreed. Fire = everything stops until it is out. Only the man on the wheel sticks to his post. -
TREASON !!!!!! Feeling sympathy for a monarchy that allows no legal representation of the colonies, alas an Absolutist King, is in no way the feeling of many good captains of the Republic nor faithful servants of the Prince. With the revolutionaire winds blowing in the east, with bonapartists gaining support by the hour it is just a matter of time before kings and emperors feel the wrath of the people. Your most grateful co.citizen and faithful servant of the Progressive Party, Captain in the Antilles Fleet Hethwill Eskeath

... all I have to say is... - finally a development team that had the common sense of doing the basics first, after all the most activity players will be doing is combat !!! - and bloody well done just missing a touch here and there. Now let's build everything else, a grand open world and build it gradually and with the high quality you have delivered with the combat. Good job team

Are 3rd rates too disposable?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Ian2492's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Make AI fleets of 3rd rates proper unique fleets with big numbers of ships of the line, frigates and support brigs and corvettes, 25 ships in total. Also make them rare, 1 fleet per capital including regionals. This means a big nation will spawn more fleets that may roam to enemy territory. Small nations will spawn less. Should balance things out. -
* bravo * * bravo * for the rp part I mean.

Denmark-Norway strikes Port Morant!
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Herminator's topic in National news
The private enterprise, which identity shall remain undisclosed, that finances the ~LD~ Privateers, under the patronage of the United Provinces, under the overall supervision of the Antilles Fleet, has instructed us to congratulate in the most joyous way, out of a profound respect for the heroism shown, the Danish admiral and captains and ship crews undertaking this actions against a decadent empire. PvP 1 RUS server
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Alictos's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
No need to divide the population further. We have 4 servers. 1 with "full" population, the other pvp one at medium at best. Until at the very least both are at full in peak hours I see no need to do this. -
France against Holland battle
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Le Loups Du Nord's topic in National news
2 danes FLOT + 1 BOAT versus 11 lobsters at large of ile-a-vache no casualties, 3 sunk, 8 escaped enough said. (( oops sry wrong thread... )) -
Pure Dutch absolutists should be exiled back to Europe and immediately, upon arrival, be conscripted as regulars to any infantry regiments and sent to the Far East where they shall remain forever as true and obedient servants of the Republic. The new vogue of Liberalism, well founded on the establishment of our Constitutional government, and with form roots on the multi cultural exchange promoted by our trade is the way to govern the colonies.

in sight of île-a-Vache, San Domingo fourth day of March, year of Our Saviour two thousand and sixteen ------------ I must report this day events to shed light into what might be perceived as a on going masked war. It is nothing more than one captain's course of action but hopefully can become an example for those captains following suit and setting up on these shores. Following the depredations of the Loose Deuce flotilla, under the patronage of the United Provinces and most esteemed organization Das-Boat, where we effectively prized two merchantile ships (AI) and sunk a British Navy Brig, I was left on my own again in the southern reaches of San Domingo. With news arriving in town of fleets moving against the East hailing from the northern nations, Denmark and Sweden, It was my intention to sail East and try to disrupt any Union shipping moving into or outward of the areas of the ports under attack. No sooner I set sail when a battle ensued well in sight of the port. Twenty eight sails could be seen ! The crew voted to return to port and give the brand new "Aardwolf King" vessel a combat shake down. We did hurry in and as soon as she was supplied we caught the best wind, a nice north western cotinuous full breeze, and approached the battle raising Denmark flag alongside our own. The final tally was not a single ship lost and at least half of those of the Great Britain force sunk while the rest scattered. Two more battles ensued in which I had the pleasure to participate, one of them aboard the trustful "Free Macareo Third", the crew favourite privateer. Rescued crews kept arriving at île-a-Vache and were welcomed, not as enemies but as players of the global politics where ships and men are lost to lost causes. I remembre one particular young man, missing his left arm by the elbow and with half the face shattered by splinters curse the name of the British king and all the leaders of the colonies in his best irish english given the pain he was going through as the nuns and monks helped them out of their misery. But such is the life of a officer aboard a man-o-war, a fighting ship. No sooner we think ourselves safe when we are assailed by unforeseen events. And this is exactly the entire point of this log entry. We left port again, this time aboard our most fast ship, the "Trebizond". Although a old fashion model it can displace itself fast with even light breeze. It lacks the shot of other more modern models but it is ideally suited to our privateering business. As we sailed away, the port just a spot in the distance we could see 7 sails engaged in battle. Six small ships were hounding a big one flying the French Nation colours. We turned South West and approached the battle raising a makeshift french banner alongside the United Provinces colours. Six british ships, like a pack of jackals were delivering a staunch and relentless attack on the french ship which I identified as being commanded by de Belleville, Jeanne. The appearance of a second ship threw the british marauders in disarray and one by one they got sunk although we must commend the crew under deBelleville for their stead fastness throughout the combat and keeping the ship afloat. The gesture was most appreciated by the french captain and as we sailed to deliver the last mercy broadsides into the last two enemy cutters curses could be heard, in plain kentish accent - "If it wasn't for the renomee you'd be done for frenchy!!!" I am glad I could help out a fellow captain, despite nation afiliation, for honour is honour server in equal measure, in such dire straits. After that fight we returned to port and changing to the privateer went to La Tortue for some of the finest rum in the north. The crew has their spirits high. ------ Commandeur-Kapitan Hethwill Eskeath

To whom it might concern, As a captain of a privately owned ship, as well as United Provinces navy commissioned ones, I shall remain active as our contractor wishes. After all entrepeneurship is a Dutch Nation trait and our investors wish to see naught but bountiful cargo being passed through their warehouses. As such I shall abide to our own guidelines which specifically state that prizes of opportunity and disruption of perceived enemy shipping is to be conducted in the enemy territorial waters. This is limited only by my own code of conduct ( no jumping missions ) which does not include defending poor traders from the depredations of greedy fat lobsters. Commandeur-Kapitan Hethwill Eskeath captain of the "Free Macareo Third" docked at free port île-a-Vache, San Domingo _______________________ A nice list but with no effect other than personal choice. Many role players take it in a different light where personal choice is more important than status quo and I bet the last shipment of rum every privateer captain wishes to deliver a thousand cuts to a enemy nation and have its name on the "infamy" boards and bounty hunting charts. Other players don't even care about RP, perfectly fine as they are also part of the Open World, Nations and overall game flow. This is all wishful thinking good sir. Nice try, as much as a 4 pound shot bouncing the side of a pickle.

The third day of March, Year of Our Saviour Two thousand and Sixteen aboard Free Macareo Third southern reach of San Domingo Komandeur Kapitan Hethwill Eskeath After all the effort and battles we went through the two contacts were made both North and South reaches of San Domingo. La Tortue was a very displeasing location which, to my suprise, was full of captains hailing from the Swedish Nation navy. I must say that their manners at the taverns we visited, and even on the streets, would strike disgust even in the most unwashed bucaneer. "They are drunk ! " - one Sally Brown tells me with a disgusted wry look. We did reply that probably the entire port would be drunk at all times in Tortue, but she rebuked my observation with a firm - "No, not drunk. DRUNK. That's what they call themselves. They do not show any pride. They do not pay. They simply like to boast how they will become heroes and become lords of their own ports..." - she ended with a chuckle. I took note of this encounter given the strangeness of it, after all the captains I met at the city commerce hall were happy to see trade open again into the Swede colonies again, despite the radicals always looking for an opportunity to attack them and blame it on the Danes. We therefore returned to île-a-Vache and continue the work on our newest outpost. The dock lanes are fairly finished and the warehouse space contract is already in effect. The captain of the port, a old sea dog called Gregorio Pontes, confided that recently two ships passed through carrying a strange cargo. (( I was doubtful of this man stories but he did fight both Spain and the Great Britain in the Wars of Succession so I gave him credit... )) Two brigs with blanked names and no colours did have orders for shipments of muskets, pistols and red cloth... "A very odd cargo I must add." - Gregorio pointed out - "We seldom deal in weapons and surely not in muskets. Most of our trade relates to sugar and wet woods with the odd cargo of silver and gold God knows where it came from..." - and he added with fearful enthusiasm - " both captains spoke perfect English with strong cornwalish accent ! " I again record this moment for it might become useful in the future if we come across these two ships. Wherever they went they will surely be retuning. We went for a shakedown run in the new waters, a reconnaissance run along the coast to the East and came across two merchant prizes, both flying Great Britain and private trader colours. It yielded good cargo on sugar products and a variety of woods. This will make Gregorio happy. His prices are very pleasant and with British naval bases nearby the crew is more than willing to stay around and attack their trade lanes.

Cargo weight, and vessel speed?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Godream's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
One thing we have to remember is that the ships were ( and are ) built taking into account the mass not only of the cargo but also of the complements, like carriages, supplies, etc. Effectivelly, and talking about the big war ships, changing radically the planned mass, but wanting to change the planned guns for it, will ultimately change a ship sailing characteristics.
