Did not lose anything yet. Thanks for the heads up, hope you reported it with F11 as well. -
Patch 9.65 - Crew and resource production
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
yes...but so if one wins the combat. but shhhhh don't tell that. Sarcasm intended, self entitled crews want hefty rewards just for showing up... -
[PETITION] Camp du Roy
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to redrook69's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Given only the XP is maintained I expect ALL assets to be reset and that includes every sing thing apart from XP. (( secretly wishes for a hard reset someday to community test the entire mechanics from blank start )) -
Patch 9.65 - Crew and resource production
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
I do not understand. It is a personal choice how much time you want to spend playing. It is not mandatory nor compulsive, to be competitive, to rush through the rates, the production chain, the crafting notes, the...., the... In any case all opinions are valid as long as they ensure a constructive taking of notes on the developers side and take it into any consideration regarding their vision and project. -
Patch 9.65 - Crew and resource production
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
The landscape changes are absolutely great. The wind is now affecting the cloth close to what would be expected and this can be felt with great effect on the greater momentum ships. The crew system is a great start. I found myself going through the books and making calculations and at the very worst the crew per gun is on the spot. The combat rewards though seem highly inflated and in a PvP server the PvE combat is delivering absurd amounts of gold. I understand that this can be intended for us to have enough resources to test the new production chains, granted, but the same way the economy is going to be tuned to be player driven, through resource production, the combat must also be evolved in the same direction. While attacking trade is perfectly acceptable in a historical point of view, having roaming herds of unchallenging small AI fleets is still a gold mine. I suggest that if they are to really stay to increase their numbers and make them dangerous to attack even with a full group of high rates. All in all I am very very pleased with the changes. Waiting for more tuning regarding cannon sizes, shot weight and falloff. Also further changes to the boarding interface. (( further note, personal opinion: It scares me that only 1 in every 50 comments is about the combat part of NA.... )) -
Black colour aboard a ship might invite bad luck. The opposite, good luck, is attracted by placing a silver coin under the main mast when raised.

Eleventh day of March, Year of Our Saviour two thousand and sixteen at Loose Deuce Flotilla quarters, La Orchila I can, without any doubt nor shame, quote the following and feel that it relates to all the three nations, United Provinces, France and Sweden. "It seems to be a law of nature, inflexible and inexorable, that those who will not risk cannot win." - a patriot ( or rebellious ) privateer captain While we gather our little thunder storm a hurricane is forming in the West. Our differences make us stronger in unity, but it seems the small nation at Gustavia thinks itself worth of yet another war which cannot be won nor will it be won by them. For sheep led by wolves are always sheep. Shipping flying neutral colours was approached by this captain with the intent of knowing whom and what was the destination and cargo just to be hailed by cannon fire. After a brief fight secret letters promising gold, ships and resources to be passed, from British territories into Swedish lands right under the nose of the Danish fleets. Nothing more to add. War benefit us all. Captain Hethwill Eskeath Privateer-at-war, United Provinces

Patch 9.65 - Crew and resource production
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
If you can't support a ship, the loss of a ship, the repairs of a ship, the destruction of an entire ship down to the last timber, to the last man, to the last durability point... ... ( paraphrasing a E:D maxim )... ... use only what you can afford. The "Bigger the Better" syndrome is rampant with no reason whatsoever to back it up. Join the Privateers. -
Patch 9.65 - Crew and resource production

Not doubting anything but can you please give a reference where the marines/fusiliers attached to a vessel were consistently assigned to cannons ? Even the boarding swivels. Thank you. -
Patch 9.65 - Crew and resource production

Question: Given nothing is pointed in the patch breakdown list the intended changes to shot falloff at range has not yet been implemented, correct ? -
Patch 9.65 - Crew and resource production
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
This is spectacular and nothing short than marvellous. Today is officially the longest day @ office since a long time. The changes, especially to the crew and boarding make me wanting to call in sick tomorrow... Also good changes it seems for the tradesmen and craftsmen. -
I swear I could hear something, faintly, nothing more than a mere wash of a wave through the fine sand by the peer. I could almost think it could be the undistinguishable sound of a warmonger wishing that... someone...else... Nah ! Damn rum has gone grog again. Better to leave this travestry of a nation behind and go privateer again now that all debts are settled. When warmongers cannot even fight back the enemy in their own waters ( because they are hoping someone else to handle it!!!! while they keep kissing AI arses ) there is little point in spewing forth calls to arms unless they step up, gather support, and lead from the front. So good sir, tell where and when and our ships, my ships, will be there to follow your lead to this adventure you so much wish for with that veement call to arms.

Ganked in NPC Misssions???
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Brasco's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Limiting PvP interaction is not a solution as I see it. Leave it open for good. Report the friendly griefers. Also reinforcements are BR related. You can still be jumped by a flotilla with less BR than you, therefore ... leave it open and have buddies close by give a hand ( if they are not the usual cowards ). -
Sorry !? Could you repeat that ? I don't think I got it right.

Ganked in NPC Misssions???
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Brasco's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
What he means Brasco, is that many many many players cried and whined about friendlies being able to join missions and cried and cried and cried until the possibility was removed and locked to the player and group. This leads to the possibility of enemy ships being able to intercept your missions without (because of the crying... ) possibility of support by friendly players. I know many want to close the missions al'together but I am of the opposite opinion. Return to the full open instances. The PvE playground should not be an option in a PvP environment therefore open them to all. -
Abuse of flag mechanics 2 - decision needed
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
Given we, as community, do not know exactly what is easier to do or expends the less time with the most effect I suggest that they are simply stripped of their rank and all assets and exiled to a PvE server until the Land Sighted update arrives. As a bonus, if there is time in your schedule to do it, find any associated accounts and proceed in the same measure. -
Pvp1: Denmark-Norway, peace or war?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to kirefla91's topic in National news
" AH ! Those sheep !?!? They call themselves the high empire... the great sweden...*chuckles and almost suffocates in laughter* ...They boast and talk and march well ordered al'right...That's all they do... They spot a foreign flag and there they go...by the dozens in their safety in numbers... but to take the fight to their enemy...No sir. Never seen it and I will die before I see it... Some fishermen came back with tales of having struck a blow down south in dutch lands... I was amazed at the lies. How can whalers in their cutters show more guts than our admirals !?... Of course I dismissed them as lies and usual boasting. Again... I will die before I see a ship of war sail out of our ports with any intent other than a parade... " - an old sick swedish captain exiled from Gustavia living at île-a-Vache -
The Loose Deuce Flotilla under the patronage of the Dutch Antilles Squadron has and will always be alongside any captain of the Danish Nation. Salute the bravery and fighting spirit of your captains sir, for few match the ferocity I have witness when they enter battle even against the odds.

Because the bow is actually not the strongest part of a ship. Not even close to that. Tip: One of the great things about games based on historical assets or periods is the need to maybe research a bit and learn a lot. Their educative part cannot be underestimated. Being a planes guy, prophead, now find myself more and more into naval history as well. Thanks to NA and their distance from fantasy and more close to what we can learn from the library.
