  1. " Of such mistakes are many widows made. " - old man in Carúpano
  2. To most estimated gentleman Charles Caldwell Sir, such arrogance !!!! The weariness of the combatants cannot be diminished as you do let them feel... was the effort and the fight was almost worthless as you try to convince the nationals of the French and Sweden nations ???!!! that their effort was childish !?!?!?..., please....remember... Many wives, parents, sons and daughters, and other beloved ones have been put aside for many hours as admirals gathered their fleets and fought for dominance, in the ports, in the blockades, in the open sea interceptions... Such is the nature of the beast. It consumes us until a moment comes where we must stop and rest. These Peace treaties are, undoubtedly, a product of a pivotal change on the course of the war in the East. No one would predict this, less so the British that with their usual sluggish "montgomery'ian" pace did seal two nation's fates. The relief on the Danes on their western reaches and consequentially the spending of the concentrated energies to defeat Sweden decisively and to land a fatal blow on the France nation was entirely, although indirectly, due to inaction of your nation sire. Inaction leads to reaction sir. And the Nether Dane Alliance is not about inaction, no Sir. France and Sweden shall be returned ports that are essentially theirs by right (!) and were taken due to the conflict and not because of the desire of conquest and shame. May the British diplomacy and navy look to their own motives rather than judging others. Commander Captain Hethwill, the twentieth and nine, year of Our Saviour two thousand and sixteen aboard the privateer vessel "Free Macareo, the third"
  3. On a "per crew" ship basis would do... after the job is done...if you survive... Proper mercenary privateer companies might be more needed in the near future than one might think. Would defer attention of a share of national fleets numbers to additional PBs and deliver part of the load of screening to those mercenaries...
  4. Pirates are and will be useful as irregular mercenaries when times of need arise from the Nations. They enjoy both sides of the same coin, no allegiance and no protection.
  5. Professionals are hired by the hour per article. You cannot expect them to spend 500 hours in a game to do their job. True and somewhat sad, but that's how it is.
  6. Ah very generous peace treaty. Maybe the start of a Northern Coalition....
  7. Ah ! The Cause !...Has lost more wars than naught...all for the Cause. And there I was, thinking I would go out of business given the recent truce and cessation of hostilities. Guess my employer, knowledgebly set apart from State politics, will be ordering the Privateers to intercept and prize Drunk'en shipping along the northern lanes. Or maybe...hopefully...somehow... FREE QUEBEC !!!!
  8. Pffff no one remembers good ol' red corsair and captain blood anymore... all is sparrow this sparrow that... ah well...
  9. Simply put, those players were not ready to engage in a open world in Alpha build revision where the mechanics are simply in place but not developed. If they quit at this stage I have no idea how they will cope with a fully developed NA where there will be less holding hands at all levels, definitely.
  10. Sorry, of sorts, for the loss of your friend. Just a remark as I was there and was me making the OW tag in a Privateer, if it is indeed the same player. He was intercepted north of Pedernales with a couple of french friendlies aroundto the east near puerto de espana doing missions and whatever, we had just intercepted a Surprise there. He called in reinforcements as predicted. It is not subject to revisionism about gank. It was not a closed battle to friendlies. Ultimately the nation buddies abandoned him to his fate.
  11. Regarding the game... with long guns. Best grouping I am getting is at 600 yards, where the spread manages to go across the entire length of the ship, from broad. In every 10 shots about 3 go too wide at that distance. About half if target abeam. Over 800 yards it is half at best in broad, given that both ships keep steady navigation and distance. Interesting enough the OP refers chain shot without referring default comparison of solid ball, which IMO is way more accurate at the 1200 mark where an experienced player can consistently deflect shot masts at over half broadsides efficiency.
  12. What really happened was that a nation that was at war with another got suddenly and deliberately attacked in a second front. They weren't ready for it. I am pretty sure the danes did not have 25 ships in every port at the same time. I am sure the french could've amassed 25 players to face them at the very first or second attack. Elastic defense has won more battles and wars in History that rigid headstrong attitudes.
  13. Sound like a fix to a undeveloped mechanic. If anything just remove Gold from the equation and find a diferent way to craft flags.
  14. I find all the sloop and privateer action on during the Revolution way more enticing than the massive strategic clashes although it is all part of the same machine with equal measure of importance. The raid at Whitehaven can correlate with that importance regarding small flotillas. All those actions did show the big navy powers that trying to kill a wasp with a hammer doesn't work.
  15. If there is one thing NA backers learned is to have patience and wait. Everything will be more awesome that way.
  16. Indeed. "Choose nation: Good, Bad, the Others" A knee under the table. Ooops it all toppled over. Sorry.
  17. While the port stomp happens and did happen against all nations, we have been there when the east fel. the cracking of mechanics regarding missions and getting jumped by high BR groups of corsairs should teach a thing or two about how bad or good cheese can smell of both sides of the borders. On the defense of the dutch all the privateering done at the Dutch Sports Center of Macareo not a single combat was in closed missions. All fair and in the open world with 5 minutes ticking. A snappy salute to all that keep their Nation Navies proud of their actions.
  18. I changed my Steam name a while ago, from HethwillKHAN to just Hethwill. The game changed the character name as well. I use only 1 character though.
  19. Working fine for me, the F12 for steam shots and the F9 given it is the key I use for Action! capture. I changed the default game key from F9 to a random unusable one. Can't think of anything other than Steam client beta, if you use it. I unsubsribed a while ago given some issues with some games.
  20. A friend gave them away for him to sell them ?
  21. I really hope the shallow/deep ceases to exist once the majority of custom design ports are in place and that decision comes from the players in relation to the ports layout and presence of shallows, sandbanks, etc.
  22. What I did was change the Steam name. It synchronized with character name in game.
  23. Crafters should keep their books in order and establish a pattern I simply throw my cash at them
  24. Pretty much. Strength equals structural soundness and Planking will affect penetration/leaking shots. HP simply equals structure. Being empty does not means the ship is sinking. It simply is way more fragile and weak. Being on the odd end of the stick and proper broadside of the 18 pounders versus my empty structure ensured 4 leaks above the waterline and 3 below, but there are worst cases. Regarding Teak and Oak at the moment I don't see any differences. Maybe structural HP difference ? Or chance for built in second quality Planking is higher in one than another ? Maybe even Speed ? Too may variables.
