Sailing on an empty Sea ?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to sacapus's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I do not notice this much, and my prime time is evening GMT, but due to the fact I seldom privateer the same area over and over again. I was amazed in one of my longest trips and arriving at Key West I had about two dozen sails on sight, all of them traders and smugglers. This was a while ago and at very late hours for me, probably prime time for US east coast buddies. Now with our privateer flotilla moving to Ile-a-Vache, I was again amazed at the amount of shipping running through the reaches of San Domingo. Will check Jamaica with more detail but I guess the trade lanes will be full. Sorry but cannot experience at all what you describe unless I am stubborn and stay over and over again in the same over populated area. Half a dozen captains chasing trade in sight of a port is a crowd... -
Grapeshot

Lots of good tips http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/7654-is-grapeshot-effect-out-of-the-realm-of-any-reality/ -
I would run the game in full screen with no issues. After a certain moment I would experience sudden crashes and lock-ups. Did the crash reports and connection test reports just to ensure devs would get maximum data for future optimization. Then I switched off the Full Screen option and had only 1 crash/lockup ever since.

PvP is not really ready for these kind of rewards. As PvP is the energy that will move the wheels of the entire mechanics we should be careful and think ahead and more dettached from the current easy mode mechanics.

• National & Free Ports. I suggest the following to the Ports to be reviewed IF they fit the roadmap as established by development in accord with the overall Open World gameplay for the future. Some of there might even get fused with the Production & Manufacturing mechanics. Free Ports docks should be reduced to 1 ship as the traffic in free ports was immense with little interest in keeping ships stationed there. They should be primary international trading centers, and smuggler's dens, and not navy bases, as they are Free from any obligations. Free Ports should be free from European National Trade and should not produce themselves any type of resources and be the true player driven trade hubs free from AI trader pressure. Not all ports had dry docks and even less with shipbuilding capability. Although the Historical list for the 18th century is quite reduced to the geographic region we have, it is imperative that a compromise is reached for the sake of gameplay. So my suggestion come to meet this and provide variety to ports, where some are prime Trade hubs others are important Shipbuilding centers ( also rated ) with dry docks sizes ranging from the cutters and sloops up to the top 3 which would be built in Europe through the Admiralties. ( until the placeholder for Admiralty these ships could be built solely in the Capital or any other choice is it is more correct to the historical background ). The variety here would be exclusive in some cases, as a 4th rate dock would be an expensive enterprise and wasted investment if used to build sloops. All ports would provide kits for repairs but not all would have repair docks for all rates, in a similar fashion as per the shipwrights. Capitals can be moved to another port if itself gets conquered. _______________________

Veiled nationalism is rampant. I am sure winged ponies were never that high. Gladly some of the Dutch Nation groups are truly international and gladly many others from other nations, French, US, Spain, Great Britain, and truly Pirates are for sure. (( Bloody hell, I play for a nation which received due compensation, not in spanish territories, but ours mostly, but then... History is great, that's half the interest in playing NA. Guess some folks are simply salty by nature and culture ))
-
I would recommend that a proper role play chronicle thread be setup with opportunity for little snippets and where personal considerations, especially those pertaining power gaming ( which is to loathe in such a elegant game as NA is ), should be left outside. ((( There is a commonality between all types of war games, from flight sims to naval action games where such poor social qualities are often seen. It is a complex and a cultural thing I guess. But I digress too much, even the Spitfire ( from the original spanish galleon Cacafuego ) was a british thing... no doubt about that. ))

" It is the firm belief of those southern folks of the Provinces , and for all purposes and intentions, that San Domingo and Jamaica be free from taxation without representation. I am sure many other private ventures, including those under the patronage of the Continental Congress of Virginia and the Carolinas, will sympathize with such opposition to absolutist rule. " Recorded hearsay, by the gentleman Morcan Garn, most estimated cook aboard the Aardvark II, on the docks at the free port of Ile-de-Vache, San Domingo southern reach.

There is absolutely no need for that actually, but hey if it works for you, well, it works for you. BAck to topic. Seems that these are mere puppets dancing the tune of a shadow figure. These cannot be the actions of desperate rebels. These are simply rumfounded spineless captains trying to light a match.

I cannot but be flabbergasted by such iron fist chest pounding statements. For king and country and bravery and stuff... Does alone refers to a whole Nation ? Alone as a group of corsairs ? Or alone as a brave captain hitting deep into hostile waters ? Your courage is drawn from rum and from those around you. Have yet to see rats scurrying about in the Republik territorial waters. Alone... that is what will befall your shipping soon all along San Domingo and Jamaica sir. Alone they shall find themselves prized by private venture fearless captains. You empty words do not match your full cargo holds.

It is such a blurred line between role play and flames yards high.

Liberté, égalité, fraternité.... FREE FRENCH!
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Charles Caldwell's topic in National news
The Independent Captains shall be appraised for intentions on a per encounter basis. They are not considered as a nation and as such will receive nor be expected treatment as befalls the other colonies of the European powers. Rest assured that our most benevolent patron has the courage of the Independent Captains in highest regard. -
Hence I was referring to the "the bigger the better syndrome" most players suffer of. Players can learn and will learn from all types of rigs. You force a less savvy new comer into a big ship in a hurry he will be food for the fish in no time. Really amusing that only 2 in 10 engagements the opponents used manual control to either win position or to even gain wind. So, the best thing to do in the peace time is to actively engage in training sessions and pvp with all rates excluding the cutters.

As per letter of marquee, passed onto our most benevolent patron; which identity shall remain undisclosed, passed by the Magistrates of the United Provinces of the West Territories, on this day the first of March year of Our Saviour two thousand and sixteen, All trade and navy vessels, whatever cargo and amount of guns, presenting themselves along the reaches of San Domingo and Jamaica and not flying the flags of the Danish, Swedish, French, Dutch or Continental Navy shall be subject of appraisal from close quarters loaded cannon and prized if seen fit. -

Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Charles Caldwell's topic in National news
As a whole the French Nation has been honest. That, my good friend, honesty is worth more than a fleet of 1st rates manned by king and country fools. We shall fight side by side in the upcoming war, mark my words. -
