  1. White swords - open battle. Red swords - closed ongoing battle. Also set timeout ( 5 - 15 minutes )on Battle Over status & Battle Result info.
  2. I, for one, as an individual captain, mainly privateer and steering away from politics, and especially at this very post away from any role play must say that we, the Dutch Nation, are being taught a lesson on organization, despite whatever factors related to mechanics that are implied. On the other hand I do wish that the Swedish Nation captains refrain on their arrogance. I am sure you passed the same process of Nation reorganization after the collapse. We all must learn and see how can we play the strategy game. If it boils down to a second life then we are already failing. Until the port timers are changed we have to live with them without any resentments and without any expectations but no one is expected to be online all the time, but when one is online by all means give the Naval part some Action. Being a bloody AI farmer helps no one and all Nations have these and they are the first to jump of to other nations when something goes wrong I welcome this change of pace. No clan is a nation, no nation is a clan. Praise to the gallant Swedish and Dutch captains that raise above the common mutual disrespect and love the game.
  3. Solo Player. Understood. But you can only use the hours for yourself or use them for another player correct ? I see the crafting hours, especially from someone who doesn't craft to be a favour, a gift, a token, a handshake. But yeah, guess it could improve your own gaming experience and from now on ask gold from your service. Some crafters even go the length of offering 25 gold per hour. All you have to do is ask, beg, strike a bargain Sorry to disturb then Best of luck. This is a case of... do we really need it like proposed ?! *shrugs*
  4. Ah ! You must always praise their confidence sir. And never back down from a fair brawl.
  5. Nah. Actually we have the best of it. Good wars going on, great battles, and generally great opponents which never resort to insults nor out of bounds taunting, apart from some notable exceptions but they can be dismissed - - notable call to a captain that surrendered his frigate in all 3 different battles, last one we even gave him a pure 1v1, following a 3v1 and 2v1, in less than 5 minutes without even considering firing a shot and adding the traditional faggot insult before striking the colours... no decency sometimes. Maybe he is a immigrant from the West thinking he would have a safe ride in the East... ? Who knows. Still say the French were more honest in their conquest strategy but cannot blame the Swedes for using the rules we have in game. Brits... well... from what I have seen in the North while I was there they can be excellent opponents but can also resort to imaginative cursing.
  6. Granted That I agree, that PvE needs more dynamics for sure. And regarding E:D I cannot even... it is a top game. The only displeasing factor with it is the auto target and fire and forget weaponry. Hard to digest for a prophead ( nothing beats annoying Annies with a ice cold viper ihihih, similar to be using a Privateer in NA )
  7. Thank you for the clarification then.
  8. Upon purchase of the advanced order of the game in its Alpha state you abide for all the rules and guidelines as warranted by the developers. You can login to the forum so I assume you can also find the appropriate Admin posts about what behaviour is expected. You are not the first nor you will be the last to have some sort of lockout or ban. You are not special. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/6023-open-world-behavior-and-chat-bans/#entry114300 http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/6419-warning-friendly-kills-for-all-nations-are-not-allowed/#entry121997
  9. True, but as the ships of the line had their own specific use and orders they were not event regarded as an option to engage in these high seas skirmishes unless of course the fleet / convoy was engaged. That's where brigs and frigates enter And yes we need Admiralty mechanics with reputation, fame and obviously infamy rules. Many ideas have been shared since long ago.
  10. We will have to stand with our own cups then, given the volumes are the same but mine is indeed half full. I won't dwell into the Alpha Revision Build, it should be obvious and IF any real interest is shown by the game then the SEARCH for information would be beneficial for both of us. What I enjoy about the Emptiness you feel is exactly the "full with opportunity" feeling, but I must apologize as I play on a player versus player environment in which both worlds pve and pvp coexist in cruel harmony. It is never the same and every day brings something new. Mind you that I do not even trade nor craft and keep myself into the Action part of Naval which includes the navigation, exploration and obviously all the combat. I have no master in hydrodynamics but given the software limitations we are getting there. And given turning ability is highly misused I suggest you compare turn time versus turn travel distance versus ship dimensions. Historically 3rd rates wouldn't even be allowed to engage any ship with a rate lower. So let's say an Admiralty mechanic would be introduce that would give you negative reputation for engaging lower rates with a higher rate. Would that be pleasing ? Mind you, you put up some nice points of view especially regarding the shallowness of the PvE environment. Salute.
  11. I totally disagree. The game is challenging towards new comers and doesn't reward failure ( the biggest mistake in the world of multiplayer games ) while providing a nice array of game activities and opportunities ( read: in development, alpha revision build ). This simple basic premise is enough for a long time gamer ( seemingly you have half a decade on top of many of us ), from computer products to tabletop wargames and tactical to immediately like it. Historical, challenging, vast, elegant, visually enticing. Nothing to dislike. Salute.
  12. - Cannon mass, Leaks and Boarding fixes very welcome.
  13. Replacing the Social aspect of a MULTIPLAYER game with artificial/proto/social mechanics is never a good thing. Make connections. Hire your hours or give them away. In the long run the crafter will be very pleased and actually help you out when you least expect it with some niiiiiiiiiiiiiice discounts.
  14. Good Sir, Privateers, at least under the patronage of the United Provinces, do not resort to whaler boats. I cannot but feel disgust by these distinguished gentlemen having to resort to the free way out. We do indeed commission ships that are costly and represent the "Something to Lose" instead of this ... masquerade under the guise of gallantry and bravery. Let alone for each one of these, other ten attempts that go awfully wrong are seldom noticed. But then we all like a good story. Let them have it and keep the masses of indentured servants happy in their ignorance. Would indeed be front news if they would represent the King and Crown aboard commissioned class privateers. As it is, it is simply anecdotal value for the masses of peasants which seemingly have populated the Royal Navy in the last half a century. With the highest esteem for the French cause. 15. France versus Britain is a classic war.
  16. - Learned that crew also gets magically replaced, especially on the Royal Navy ships. - Found myself cheering "ACHERON!!!" given the recent developments in our imaginary real world of NA - Tried to take a glimpse to any fabled Forester's Pellew Sights without success. - Discussion over Aubrey's choice of Marines over Powder Monkeys is necessary
  17. Escort in exchange for Reinforcements ( not reduced but totally off ). Deal ?
  18. Battle Ratings are not finished yet. They are flat. They do not take into account captain rank, build quality, trims, upgrades, gun complements, etc.
  19. I have no idea, but they might be out there *shrugs* .... tempting huh. Mermaids...GOLD...mermaids...GOLD...
  20. Excellent piece. Some hillarious moments there plus true to form to Naval Action forum ahahahahah
  21. Have you ever seen a loading screen with a message about secret islands ? That should be a hint Those up there you can see but the vast ocean to reach them...who knows...
  22. 15 mins from Battle Over message until return to Open World, no matter if you go to result screen or stay at instance navigating. The only issue is the players that use the instances for tutoring others in the game, but on the overall scenario of the use of these mechanics I am inclined to think these are really the minority even if their contribute is precious to new comers.
  23. Report bug with F11 function if you haven't already. Hope it gets sorted.
