  1. While it is true what you bring, the fellows did jump the ball and did the specifically same with 160ms as they do normally with 40. *shrugs* Anyway, just a sidenote, many EU fellows play on PvP2, let's not fall into generalization, they know exactly what is to play with US ping.
  2. ping doesn't matter. has been proven by scandinavians playing on us server with 160 ping rest of " what if " is correct.
  3. Dummy targets do not move ( and we do have stabilization ) At the moment all combat opportunities have a real chance of crippling the opponents. Raking can demast as much as mast snipe, for example. Hull damage can be decisive with a good pass, leaks can be catastrophic, and so forth.
  4. Angles were notched during exercises. Markings carved for presets ( we don't have to worry much as we have a mouse control stabilizer ). The more elevation angles were notched and noted into the batteries the easier it would be in real combat.
  5. At the very least, bare bones minimum, talk to opponents in battle. Easier to report and track reports, and necessary for gallant captains and immersionists.
  6. Sold all my stone in less than hours at 55 a piece. Small profit but surely welcome by the buyers. Guess some greedy fellows could ask for way more.
  7. Niagara never sailed out of the lakes and the Lynx was a yankee privateer. Pirate crews did have to share the prize with the crew, roughly equal shares. etc etc etc.
  8. Yes. That makes sense. No defenders to shoot at, no marks
  9. Superb resistance to ship worm.
  10. Shop !? You mean players selling marks and labour contracts to other players for gold or resources, directly or on shop contracts ?
  11. One Yankee privateer, in 1812, left port for a cruise of four months with only 3 guns whilst the ship war ready for 17. She managed to prize a english armed merchant, from London, on the north approach to Habana. Gladly the cannon was the exact bore they needed and they transferred the 14 needed. It was really common to all sea rovers, independent "enemies of mankind" or properly sanctioned by nations. Their major issue was having correct size ammunition for any cannons they would prize... oh and quality gunpowder. Navy vessels didn't have the issue to contend with. They had standards. And oh, no proper independent pirate would be a farmer, or a miner, or a fat trader, or work on a ship yard for a wage... no sir. Liberty had a price. No infrastructure to support the way of life. So...Why should pirates have that specific ability if in reality they did not ? It has to be something else.
  12. Been selling out all the contracts I put out, from the Antilles to San Domingo, bermuda cedar, stone enough for a lot of workshops and some copper, side production of the mines. No idea if other players just hoarde stuff, but the small margin of profit is profit.
  13. Oh yeah, weight is indeed playing a part now and personally I am very pleased with the result. Thickness will only hold so much versus all that mass and speed. And those 18 pounder surely pack. Mediums and Carronades damage output is great at close range, really really good. While longs can provide higher penetration and start shattering the structure ribs ( and both planking sides ) early on if penetration is high enough. But risk pays off. Combat is really raw and decisive and will not tolerate many mistakes. Wood types can only help as much.
  14. Faster Hostility raise should be an alarm to the defending nation to put the squadrons in the water. PB notice, 46 hours, could be tested indeed but I still think it is too long. It is 2 days of...inaction. I suggest contested region to be locked out, meaning no teleports available to any of the ports. At least a measure of planning on defense/attack will have to rely totally on OW sailing. ( long live screening frigate captains ! ) NPC lost cannons is a great fix. Not sure about the 60 seconds of invisibility. But can work ( kind of ) if no Attack! can be initiated for 120 secs.
  15. Let's cool down. We discuss game, not captains. Please. There are always tidbits that we, players, will not like that much but the global picture is what matters. I dislike orange colour ( sorry dutchies ) but some paintings wouldn't be so awesome without orange colour. Reserve your personal divergences to the roar of cannon fire in the OW, in the PBs.
  16. Something great has to start somewhere. Keep it going. Some fellows dropped a few resources here
  17. http://www.18thcjournals.amdigital.co.uk/Introduction/NatureAndScope#selection ( for reference on layouts, etc )
  18. less grain. imo, even if the cotton paper would not be perfect and with a aged look
  19. Yes. Suggestion: less noisy background.
  20. Well, that's an idea, but please do not bring RL into it. Most of the time they had no ammunition for the cannons. Pirates, not buccaneers/pirates sponsored by the crowns.
  21. Totally fine with anything. My suggestion came in line with captains simply not sailing what they can't afford to lose, a good bang for the buck, which seems to be quite "suicidal" if we take from too many "everything is expensive and I just lost my ship !!!! " Pickle - best OW travel choice by far. Ideal for early OW long sails to open outpost on far side of the world. T.Brig - well, the workhorse for early trade. Niagara - has the most awesome bang for the buck once over rank 4. Cerberus - the very first true light frigate / corvette.
  22. ( Basic Cutter ) + Trader Brig, Pickle, Niagara, Cerberus
