Yes, rather raid the traders than do the trader runs myself , meaning deny the enemy nation of its wealth while getting myself needed prize money while having the challenge of not being a NPC. But hey if you need an escort doing your trade runs I am the first to answer if I'm nearby.

Question to traders, do quantities of national goods ( used for trade lane profits ) are enough for a LOT of traders or are simply in short supply so there might be a rush for them ? Texas, you did reply before my edit, sorry for the mistake I provoked. To be honest I do not care what you make believe. We know what we do and how we did it. We been doing it since forever. In any case putting all eggs in the same basket is pure madness, you know, like losing a Surprise to schooners and then crying everything is expensive because the player went poker style all-in

2 days roughly the same game period, c'mon read again Playing France. It all comes down to managing "insurance" and not spending all at once. The PvP is only a choice but surely pays off more than hunting NPCs, that's all.

from 23pm BST to 1:30AM BST roughly Global server ( 2 days and counting ). Mind you, your mileage may vary, just sharing how we are managing our careers without falling into bankrupcy.

Doing solely PvP starting from newbie rank, nothing redeemed, two captains already established outposts, bought guns, bought a new clan, and additional shop ships - schooners - on top of the captured ships ( pickles, trader brigs and a surprise ). The clan bank has a "insurance" reserve that can cover the need for guns and stands at about 60k. No mission running at all, a couple NPC traders nailed in the lull between PvP ( cider and tobacco cargo ). Only OW hunting. Progression feels on par, given mostly captures and not sinkings so rewards are the cargo and the ships. Ship knowledge building up nicely and will be a breeze from now on unless we really mess up. Best thing is to keep a cash reserve that covers a full loss, kind a 100% insurance. ( Basic Cutters cost nothing to equip and run, repairs are fully free all the time same as replacing lost guns if basic cannons )

Two things are required: 1. Correct class of cannons/carronades ( as per equipment slot indicators ) 2. Number of cannons/carronades ( as per equipment slot indicator ) Any of those is not fulfilled ?

Ships were designed and built for specific complement of guns. Everything is quite nice now that we did all the way testing and trial the ships since years ago. The time of the MG Santi with 6 pounders ( or the carrosanti battering ram ) is gladly in past Game is not difficult. Is a good measured challenge and the "new players" thing is getting old. Really. Think of it, everytime you buy a new game you are a new player and game needs to be learned. Some games are more challenging than others. Exanima versus Clicker Heroes for example.

Went direct to PvP. Raiding two traders and fending off an accumulated of seven other ships yielded enough prize money for outposts setup, one of the corsairs ship fitted with guns and the clan registration. No idea where's a win button but Praying surely is helping. Cannons are valuable things. I will cherish them and give each a name ( like they did back then ).

Ah ! I got it. Yeah the translation from drone to deck POV can provoke odd out of place disorientation. Forgot to mention I play with camera on deck, so kind of doesn't bother much. -

A option to snap spyglass back to heading ( on/off ) could be a way around it. I use the water movement in relation to my spyglass position - 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. -
