  1. More than the chip, important is the assembler of the cards ( Sapphire, Asus, VTX, etc ) and they do tinker a lot and come up with their odd setups. As yet a Asus card on top of a Asus board is top. Sapphire is terrific for any build. Club3D and ROGs can be deceptive. Some of the gaming versions are glorified OC boards which will flicker and die very fast.
  2. Tommy was having a pun intended moment A map is a map right ? on screen or on top of your table or in the wall of your map cave... is a map.. Technically one can navigate in NA by using a printed TDA map, for example as there are other excellent ones, and never resort to the M key. Pun intended Ofc map is cool to have, more so if the release version UI brings some of the most awesome maps the community conjured.
  3. Closest friendly of free port.
  4. Did try Oculus and HTC both in simulators, planes and cars. It is a question of bang for the buck. Personally it would be a waste as half the time I'm playing eyes wide open to what's going on with the family part of life so a VR set would be only to be used when 100% nothing will happen. Hence a waste of cash for me. Other than that, give it one more generation of development, especially for hardware to fully support it and game devs to make the "optics" correct. Some games will give you headaches due to wrong eye to screen angles so your optical muscle is always on a strain.
  5. Don't fly what you cannot afford to maintain, lose or "not win".
  6. Totally this. I take my time buying new stations for home but they do hang tough a good deal of time doing their job - gaming, photo and vid editing, remote office work and media station for the entire household devices ( all MS based consoles and phones ). All seamless and often at the same time. Each penny will have to be used.
  7. Simply solely for gaming for sure not. But does give you several things including robust multitasking and task switch being seamless including games of course.
  8. Slab another 800 - 1000 € for a average 4k monitor at 120Hz / Freesync. VR as enticing as it is, is a luxury gadget at the moment imo. I can never stress enough, do not overlook a solid and robust motherboard. It is what bring it all together.
  9. No. Never was. Totally reliant on armateurs to supply the best corsair ships. Has been working perfectly so far. *wink*
  10. Not disagreeing at all was just stating that OW was a novelty for a lot of people back in the first instance and we didn't have map so we were total newbs looking at a screen and a map in the wall. I do what Texas wrote, I bring the Map up but do not even zoom to grid so I'm okay.

  11. It is an opportunity for the clans to establish themselves in areas rather than being all holed up around the capital for nations like France, GB, Spain that have a lot of "ultramarine" territories. Who is to say who will do what ? Getting to Louisiane takes two average sessions. Getting to Antilles for GB is one a half. Each successful raid pushes back enemy "supplies" and the ability to build ships.
  12. True enough my bad. I wanted to mean direct teleport into a outpost deep inside enemy waters without the referred outpost being located in a region controlled by your nation. aka. free ports. With Conquest a enclave can be setup as a forward naval base to harass enemy shipping lanes fast and furiously. I never used alts. We didn't have TPs to anywhere for a long time. This isn't new. I accept that can be discomfortable for many but is also an accepted balancer by as many.

  13. Long term OW raiders had always went to enemy waters whatever RoE, they did adapt to all conditions and are always prepared to call it a defeat by escaping with grace. This is just another phase of the OW and despite having things many of us do not like, others are new and balancing the entire act. The easy picking crowd for sure, will feel the wrath of the coastal guards more than the last 8 months. But on the other hand there will be more player traffic crossing due to no towing, no TP, no deliveries. Escorting a friendly trader is a sure way to get into trouble... er.... I mean PvP.
  14. Return to simple shallow and deep ports. Deep Ports control areas - one area can only be controlled by 5th &4th rates ( and anything below ), another area only controlled by SOLs, another area by all rates. Shallows - one area for 6th rates, another for 7th rates, the third by all.
  15. We all do screw up a lot of times No one is arm-wrestling here and it is great to share each other experiences with having or not gps and how it influences the flow of the game and the open conflict and how to reach a OW battle spot while emulating a bit of age of sail
  16. UTC never changes. That is obvious. Actually even better, for all the military folk out there, use Zulu time. Never fails. Hence you must know where you are on the Planet to know how many fingers you have to count. In my case, during summer I need only one. Any...one...finger. Got it ?
  17. Instant communication with exact coordinates as opposed to instant communication and relay of "relative position" which is always relative to the way they are said and the way they are interpreted. Fog of war in modern communications OT: Funny enough Command Ops even simulates this absolutely essential part.

  18. UTC never changes. Countries local time might change. Some countries adjust +1 during summer. Others don't. Example: Germany is on UTC+2 in summer time. England is on UTC+1 during summer. This DST observance makes a lot of difference when dealing with northern hemisphere and south hemisphere where north is back on UTC, south is on summertime, widening the gap usually by 2 hours relative to the normal gap. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time_by_country
  19. Not discussing you discussing newbs are as bright as any veteran
  20. The very first instance of OW we were all newbs. We had to use real maps to navigate. Not in game map Do not diminish anyone please. People are more bright and resourceful than you give credit for

  23. I might be wrong but simply resets the account once without loss of the redeemable items, not already ingame assets. That's my interpretation.
