Join timers are extended. All in circle will be drawn into battle. Signaling works a bit different - relates only to the faction/side of the perk users - but it can effectively be used by both sides ( still have to run some definitive tests on it ). Cannot rejoin a battle after exiting a battle. I did test it and shows Battle closed for me.

Patch thoughts.

This is very important, believe it or not. The opposite as well. Understand why the loss happens and what could be done to prevent it. -
Love letter to the devs
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Captain Lust's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
For a player to lose a ship with guns, other play will win a ship with guns. There's a symbiotic element now that we didn't have before. Again ( as I did in testbed ) starting completely from 0. It is a bit of a struggle but can be managed. Keeping a stash to cover full loss is a must IMO. Overall a great patch to test. Thanks the devs the opportunity for testing some of the mechanics that were being suggested since first iteration of OW including 1 durability and map plotting. -
Basic Cutter needs a change

Basic Cutter needs a change
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to a topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Not only that but also cannot join / get pulled into any battle. Not Rank limited. Basic Cutter should be the "tutorial campaign". -
Got my Chackal ( Lynx ) for little over 9k plus full complement of mediums costing little over 19k. So to use the Lynx costs, in my mind, 28k + personal insurance of 28k to cover loss. If we simply look at missions - Each low rank mission yielding roughly 8k ( plus any cannons loot ) against a equal ship ( or npc trader yielding anything from 0 to 150k ). 7 missions for a veteran. make that 9 to 18 for a absolute newcomer. Remember Basic Cutter repairs and all is totally free, just press the key and it consumes nothing. Given that we do have the Pickle as a redeemable we can even play a bit more with the kickstart wallet situation.

Easy to fall into the trap of spending it all in one hand. We all do that mistake. Actually, as a good advice, communities should encourage newcomers to work towards having a backup amount of cash to cover a full loss.

Global. Other Reasons, including friends and community, and also due to the game, in its entire scope, being playable at all times by everyone. From Europe. Western tip of the continent. Very pleased with the choice. Ping is good for a game of this genre and there are players from everywhere in the world at all times. Numbers might not be as high for now but population numbers seem stable around the clock.

given the map is flat but earth is not, and seeing that all the spots are in the correct real world coordinates, reckon there might be declination to account for ?! unsure on this but feels like it.

There were no missions in first iterations. All hunting OW.

Naval Action disables Logitech mouse button bindings?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Arsilon's topic in Support
Unsure if related but with my HOTAS control setup I can't use any profile loaded that uses keystroke commands along with any unity based game - NA, Wasteland 2, etc etc etc So could be related in the sense it would be worth a try to disable any keyboard replacements you have. -
Great Not that it makes a world difference buuuuuuut it may well do ! Thanks for the clarification sirs.

How much weight being carried ? Seems like full or even overloaded.

I do Pray before every cruise. And I do Pray upon safe return to port. No idea how it works but surely helps.

Protractor tool added to map in the open world ( & compass ) Thumbs up. Will get lost again anyway

Okay, thank you. Yngvarr, maybe I was a bit short on my reasoning. Let's say a frigate level mission where we are faced with a squadron of 3 to 4 NPC frigates. There's enough of those roaming the regions. What is the difference ( apart from the specific location as strife pointed out ) ?

Think you can do whatever, simply the ship knowledge is limited to three expertises. To fully unlock mastery ( five slots ) one must learn whatever ships are indicated in the locked slot. It is a odd system, granted but also provides much needed variety.

Can that be that hunting the NPCs in the OW be the equivalent of going into a mission to hunt NPCs ?

Yes. Exactly. Less gold for the enemy due to privateering, more gold for my nation due to robbing the enemy. Anything wrong ? Stealing NPCs is a choice not mandatory, at least in any of the PvP servers. I suddenly remember seeing a screenshot of PvP EU yesterday where the Swedish nation assembled this massive trader fleet for common protection. ( thanks to Sveno ) Good example of players of a nation banding together, playing together for common goals. Sounds they are proving themselves the sinews of war using the mechanics in place.

Gotcha. Third day post patch. Maybe time to start planning the war and think about logistics. Raiders can help a lot by denying those same logistics to the enemy ( and give shares to shipbuilders if the resources are needed ) but hey, what do I know. There's something interesting in this new system that we will only see after two weeks. While cash is important it doesn't really replace the need for vital national cooperation to get combat capability going.

Full complement of guns for a Lynx is 19k, something like that. Two missions ( or two NPC raids ) of Midshipman level buy you the Lynx and the cannons. One single PVP trader capture does pay for a entire squadron of those. Choices, planning, social, getting out there. There's no inside knowledge but to be fair many strategies from other games do apply in NA cash management.
