  1. good point remember that blueprints system will change on release. right now it requires you to craft an exceptional ship to receive a guaranteed chance of a BP drop. Which is now hard due to fine wood requirements. I need to think about it

  3. Hello captains We will remove the minor randomness in upgrade slots in the next hot fix. If you want to have full control over upgrade slots please delay ship crafting until the hotfix. ETA this Wednesday or Thursday (2-3 Nov). Grey ship will have guaranteed 1 permanent and 1 regular upgrade slot Exceptional ship will have guaranteed 3 permanent and 5 regular upgrade slots npc captured ships will remain the same. We will also temporarily change the wood types colors (until the final wipe). It will make some ships improve their color of quality (without changing the characteristics). This is done to avoid downgrading of color as happened before in the patch. (also remember that color does not matter).
  4. Calm down captains We are sure that everyone was compensated. The process was automatic and removed the buildings and gave everyone back the cost. We have no reason to steal or remove them from your accounts Captain or try to hide something from you and the community. If you are sure something is wrong report it by F11 from the respective accounts and it will be investigated.
  5. all funds used for construction were compensated to the captains funds. if you had a 50k building before after patch you should have lost the building but received the 50k to account.

  7. no because that's why there is a delay and thats why server based game are better for such cases lets say delay is 1 min (gun should fire 1 min after button press) and ping is 59 seconds you click a button at 00-00-00 server time lag makes the server receive the signal at 00-00-59 but because there is a fire delay of 1 min server plays the fire at 00-01-00 if the ping is 59 seconds (1 min since the button press) if ping is 30 seconds server still plays fire at 00-01-00 Only if ping is higher than 1 min you will experience lag But ships are slow and there are no headshots (ps i also need to check if it works this way but this is why the delays were designed and we actually wanted to increase the fire delay to incorporate the beautiful fire commands shouted by crew)

  9. That's totally untrue - its not nice to just claim something about others out of the blue without any factual evidence. Just look at USS Rattlesnake or other US ships and US Nation in game (which was for some reason never added in the majority of age of sail games). Regarding the servers for the 1 year of testing there was 1 server which was fine for the USA based players. On ea release new servers were added to help with potential demand spikes. the majority of USA based player veterans remained on the PVP EU which actually caused many new buyers to just go to this server. I cant make US players to chose US servers, majority still joins PVP One. There is no point to keep empty servers. We believe that in the long term only 1-2 servers are needed. One PVP and one PVE. Boarding will be changed so there will be no ping dependent things in the game left. And being hardcore pvpers ourselves we took care that ping does not matter much. for example if you have noticed there IS a delay after you click fire. Its not lag. its in design. Its both historical simulating fuse burning and helps with ping.

  14. someone posted a good idea on the testing server where everything is wiped for everything. We will think it through.. i think the idea has merit.
  15. rookie zones don't bring fleets into battles. fleets are not counted for the BR of the battle too. So if you attack a fleet of 1 player and 2 ships with 100 battle rating each (300 combined). You will actually start a battle with 100 br on the enemy side. Other people will be able to join him up to 300 br.

  17. It is usually a good idea to do wipes on every significant change, we did them often before. During early access it is harder to do wipes, due to community backlash. Majority plays EA games as normal games ignoring the ugly UI even. The nuclear blast would be extreme if we wiped everything. We will only do them if it becomes absolutely necessary.

  20. some ports are harder than others.. las tortugas was further away from havana we thought its better. as a lot of spaniards were complaining about gankers operating from the EASY key west. Now its harder for them - so it should be good for spain. But if this is a general majority opinion (that key west is better for spain) we might reconsider las tortugas (and i like key west name better). We are indifferent on those two ports especially if one of them has a horrible entrance point.
  21. Exploration has to tie naturally into main game mechanics - because there is no land it will be very hard to make it interesting and exciting. Otherwise it will just turn into a in game encyclopedia (like current fishes that are historical and live in those places where you can catch them). Bots will be aggressive once we teach them to chase players. Bots don't use cheats and as a result can't outperform a player. If bots become aggressive on ow it will just waste time for players because you can always run away. I think it was Wasa or Diana - need to check There will be more ships if we can afford it. Storms are hard to do with the current visuals tech. As water is synced we can't update water dynamically. The only way for storms could get in back is through events from port lobby (using separate servers). Too early to talk about Naval action 2. But if it happens time compression must be solved and captain must be to walk on deck and on land. All missions generate hostility and we don't want PVE to be safe on the pvp server. Battles are closed instantly because you search for enemies yourself. Missions give you the target without effort and thus we thought we should add some risk to them. On the PVE server they are still safe.
  22. You can't attack individual ports. In real life the region was usually garrisoned and attacking one individual town was somewhat impossible. This is somewhat replicated through the regions mechanic. If you can capture the region you control all ports in the region. Rarity works in games and sometimes provides a goal to a player. We believe that some ships should remain rare and the only way to make them rare is to remove their crafting chance. Raids are a great idea on paper but might turn into a farce if under designed. On paper it looks like that. You enter the port instance, sail by or destroy defenses, get to the town and rob it. If no-one comes to defend it you will steal some goods from the port. In reality it all turns into sail by the defenses and stand near a pier for 5-10 mins. Thus we are not yet 100% sure about raids. we plan to add more ships to the game. Spanish vessels maybe. The problem is to find the perfect vessel so it does not look the same as others. Landlords are currently not a priority - because there are yet some other issues that need to be addressed including UI. But there are some good ideas on this subject and they can be explored. Ironman mode will work best on a separate hardcore server. But it might split the community even more. PvP/PvE split is more than enough. Another reason for the delays is this - hardcore mode might actually make certain things easier for the outlaws/hardcore players.
  23. we don't know blueprints will be reworked most likely - we don't like how they work now.. and how they worked before ai trader numbers were not changed.. what we added is that they don't immediately respawn and can respawn elsewhere in THIS region. But they are in this region ROE - time compression makes everything worse. The only solution to have a perfect roe is to shrink the world and have same speed in instance and ow. then battles can be opened any time and you can enter exactly where you were on the OW. No definitene plans we are still in the collection stage - but from what we see any change to pirate mechanics might screw up everyone - take outlaws for example . outlaws who are against all are the great idea. but being against all makes them the easiest class to play. because they can attack each other. Expeditions and research were a great idea when OW was in a early stage, but we still have not found the way to tie it into gameplay. Because otherwise it will look like fishing. UI is being researched. First we will deploy the functionality change (making things more usable from usability perspective). Player fleets are a feature that is loved by a good percent of players. We never had a ship roadmap before but there is potentially a list of ships we want to make. Dutch included
  24. комплексный ребаланс был в мае - сейчас уже тюнинг раскраски будут сложно достижимыми наградами - также их можно будет получить другими способами но это пока рано обсуждать звук имхо неплох но будет в чем то улучшаться - песни дорого 20 парусников это очень много - посмотрите на 13 машин в Euro Truck Simulator. На гринлайте обещалось 10 кораблей - это обещание уже выполнено Дополнительные доки для кораблей после релиза По прочкам есть идеи сделать 1 прочку всем - поэтому склеивание врядли Компас вуд это кривые бревна подходящие для изогнутых частей кораблей падают с любого леса Ваши боты всегда стандартные - сохранение модулей и пушек сделано для удобства Флаг капитан эскадры на лодке пересел и командует - но воюет капитан бота слушая команды флаг капитана команду начали копать но там все сложно - пока серьезных планов по переработке нет за исключением работы с офицерами после релиза так как игра онлайн поддержка обязательно будет до тех пор пока совсем совсем не перестанет продаваться - что может случится где то через 2 года после релиза. Поэтому нам очень важны ваши обзоры - если вы еще не сделали оставьте отзыв на стиме новые суда планируются гараж клана пока не планируется - но возможность расширить доки будет после релиза или возможно раньше возможность использовать трюм своих ботов будет добавлена в игру возможно даже в этом году по поводу возможности снять склад в любом порту подумаем вижу вымпел в нашем ОМ быстро надоест - зачем вводить звук который тут же захочется отключить отдельной строкой в опциях игра меньше крашится благодаря этой фиче - когда станет крашится очень редко отключим возможно надо сделать опцию на отключение отправки возможно - но сейчас больше других проблем нет
