  1. You get a lot more experience for fighting players. Even a losing battle can net you a nice gain. Go where there are players, mix it up and earn some experience.
  2. The reason it wouldn't move is that you were so undercrewed, you needed to wait a VERY long time for your sails to come up. If you weren't in sailing mode, you may never have gotten the sails up. 40 people can not effectively get a Renomee moving without a half an hour of scrambling up and down masts. I've been undercrewed to the point that it took 20-30 seconds per 1% point of sails. Full sails means you've commanded the crew to put up full sails - but watch the % underneath full - there is a lag between Full Sails, and 100% Sail status. If you're undercrewed, you'll see it tick to 1%, then a little while later to 2%, etc.
  3. No, generally if there is an issue, you are out of luck. It's part of testing. While I know it's very disappointing to lose such a great prize after so much hard work, it's hard to prove and takes a lot of time to research. Then a manual database update would have to be made, and who gets the ship? What if there's a disagreement? It makes a huge mess very quickly.
  4. We should have "Get banned for using English Week" to edumacate them. (Kidding of course.)
  5. There are two classes of 4lb'ers, Base and Regular. Base is class 10 and costs 0. 4lb Medium is class 9 and costs gold. Why anyone would buy them is a secondary question, but it is possible to pay gold for 4lb'ers.
  6. F11 is what you need to do in this situation. This will dump logs and other variables to the developers so that they can find and fix the issue.
  7. Most systems that involve pardons would be abused by those that want to grief and get away with it. Once a pirate, always a pirate. Be careful whom you attack!
  8. The AI puts rounds into the water around me all the time. Their favorite thing to do in small ships, in fact, is to bury their broadside into a wave. They do hit pretty often, but I guarantee you, not as often as an experienced player. The number of people utterly missing my hull during a small battle yesterday while I was able to skip the ranging shot and hammer theirs with a full broadside definitely shows the difference between experienced players and those still coming up the curve. In short, practice. Watch carefully, and remember the arcs on your shots. Before long, you'll be hammering anything inside of 250yds without effort.
  9. F11, the Devs can not research it based on what you have posted here. Thanks.
  10. Naval Action does not discriminate based on language. If folks want to speak Russian in chat, or Polish, or Spanish, or French, Latin, Klingon, Elvish, whatever, they may. If you don't like seeing it, there is an ignore function.
  11. Please see: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/8749-were-going-to-need-an-afk-timer/#entry163228 And continue the conversation there. Thank you!
  12. This. Thank you Prater.
  13. Right here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/7978-development-plans-prioritization-proposals-and-feedback/ Feel free to add your comments on that thread
  14. Nope, they have always been 50xp per mission for the first two ranks.
  15. Err, having XP synched across all three servers is hardly starting completely over. Gold is easy.
  16. Thanks for the update. My information is a little dated.
  17. Engaging high-speed moderation mode.

  18. As of the end of closed testing, Niagara had almost half the HP of Mercury, with no real apparent speed benefits (a slight edge towards Niagara). While I know it has the capability to carry large carronades, I'm not sure deep water only is the right choice for her given her HUGE HP deficit (nearly the same as Snow) - especially considering that she was a shallow draft lake ship. Perhaps Maturin can add some good remarks about this. Updated thread title to be reflective of the content.
  19. Please restart steam and ensure you've logged into Steam before starting the game.
  20. It is a new ship, much like the Mercury Brig, with stern chasers, less Armor (HP), and the option to carry heavier carronades (if they have not changed it since I tested it). It has 135 155 crew, so if you can use a Navy Brig or Mercury Brig, you should be able to use this ship.
  21. Yes, you'll need adequate crafting level to see/make it.
  22. There's absolutely no guarantee it will run at all. If it does, Olav's statement will likely be true. The game isn't currently optimized, so you may experience instability, crashes, and/or the game just flat out refusing to run if your system doesn't meet the minimum specs.
  23. Make sure you don't redeem them for now, and they may show up on the other servers as well soon. I'll follow up with Admin when I next see him to see what is going on.
  24. At this time, yes. You can only have one character. If you're unsure about your nation, it's best to create a character, play for a little bit in on nation (don't get too far!), and then delete it and create another in another nation until you find the "right" one.
  25. It's really not that bad. Press M for map, look at where the mission is compared to nearby ports, and sail from that port in roughly the right direction using the compass. The missions are called search and destroy for a reason. These missions also give you great practice in learning navigation, a skill you will sorely need later in the game.
