  1. That video card does not support DirectX 11 (you can install 11 on your machine, but if the card wasn't built to support it, the extra instructionsets that the game needs don't exist on the card). In order to play Naval Action, you'll need to upgrade that card. Your issue is a bit harder. Please make sure you've installed the C++ Redist from Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 Please also make sure that your video card drivers are fairly recent.
  2. There have been no additional ship grants that I'm aware of. The rest is all to be found at the following link: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/8543-headstart-ships-guide/
  3. When you redeem it, it should pass into the warehouse, and you can then right click and use it. If you can't find it anywhere, please recheck that it's not still in redeemables and if not, please F11 and explain the problem.
  4. If both of you would please post your operating system version, CPU, and video card specs. Thank you.
  5. Gold is pretty easy. The suggestion to capture traders is a good one.
  6. It was effectively a server event. Those that logged into the server in the first days of head start, or on the first day or so of Early Access received two ships and a blueprint in thanks. One of the ships (Niagara) was exclusive (for now - it's not available yet through crafting/market), the other (Renommee) was more "common" and is available via crafting. The blueprint was Pickle, a small fore/aft ship that is available on the market and I believe through crafting as well.
  7. This idea went by the board and I think should be fished out and re-examined. Once procedural generation of land in instances is completed, add exploration (in the abstract), and this is how you do it. The instance would be visible to all, open at all times for people to enter/leave (better keep a sharp eye for enemy sails), and would create a lot of fun content.
  8. Trinco 1v1 I like the idea. No xp/gold for training duels, half xp/gold for 1v1s. Pirates can NOT duel each other (except as a training duel in port for 0xp/gold) - this prevents the exploits that caused Pirate v Pirate gold/xp to be removed in the first place.
  9. Please take discussion of pirate mechanics to the threads that the august Mr. Drummond has provided, or to this thread: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/6344-pirates/ This will keep discussion in one place and prevent a lot of people from having to type up their arguments all over again. Thanks!
  10. Discussion of raw mechanics on this thread is off topic. What could be done to fix it is off topic. Whether or not the accused committed a violation of the rules, and if so, what should be done about it is on topic. Steel is right.
  11. If you go to PvP3, the data on there was "current" as of January 26th (or so). Whatever you had then on PvP1, you'll have now waiting for you on PvP3. It is not mirrored in that it keeps a current up to date copy of the data, it was mirrored when it was created.
  12. No. You are not going to spin this around like that. Allowing this kind of damage would drive just about every player right away. Might does not make right sir, anyone doing this will be dealt with. Period.
  13. See http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/9280-if-when-will-there-be-potential-wipes-in-future/ Please look at the forums for a moment prior to posting to make sure your question hasn't already been answered. I'll lock this as a duplicate. Thank you!
  14. There is a ship's bell that rings twice loudly as you get near the timeout - or at least I got that on my machine.
  15. There was a proposal around here somewhere that the "basic" free cutter only be able to equip 4-lb guns (with, of course, a commensurate scaling down of 1st Rank missions and XP requirements to compensate). One would have to buy a "real" cutter with real repair charges to gain access to 6lb cannon/12lb carronades.
  16. The list of visited ports, and what they produce/consume, is indeed stored locally. There is nothing exploitable in those files (e.g. you can't change anything and cause different behavior in the game itself). There may be a few other small convenience items, but there isn't a whole lot stored locally. Funny story - after nearly a year of testing Open World, when I logged in after the full EA wipe, all of my visited ports information was still present on the map. Almost everything else, gold, assets, progress, ships, etc. are all stored server side.
  17. There's no indicator, but I guarantee you that it's working.
  18. Let's clarify. If you're in a Small Battle, or Large Battle event, accessed from the Missions tab in port, it's considered impolite to just run in order to run. You've joined the instance voluntarily, with the idea that you're going to fight your ship. Get in there and fight it. That's not to say YOLO (you don't have to make a suicide charge), and not running doesn't mean attempting to cut other ships from the herd chasing you so you can cut them up, but just running to run out the timer is a little unsportsmanlike in a lot of people's eyes. It's not that you can't, but it is looked down upon. If you're in Open World, and someone jumps you, feel free to run away all you like. That's Open World for you - if they can't make the tag stick, it's not your problem. Run until you get the "Can Leave" message, and feel free to leave.
  19. If they're swarming (TDA used to do the "Yacht Club" in this manner....quite a sight to see!) you in a Renommee you don't want to catch them. You turn your bow to the point of best sail the moment you see them - it will be downwind, and you'll soon pull away and can leave the instance.
  20. Changed the title to be more descriptive of the content. This "problem" will rapidly go away as people rise up out of the first ranks.
  21. Once inside an instance, I don't think there is any mechanic to apply a Pirate flag if you damage friendlies. There is supposed to be a weekly automated process that might do this, however. You can "legitimately" become a pirate by attacking a friendly on the Open Sea. But once inside a battle, you are expected to aid anyone that is green to the best of your abilities. This is due to game mechanics that put greens in very close proximity - it can be abused if green on green is allowed.
  22. Unless by mutual consent, green on green damage is flat out not allowed. Doesn't matter who invaded whom. He does NOT have the right to "invade you" as you put it.
  23. For now, disregard the chat logs. Admin should be by soon to take a look at the screens.
  24. Thank you Kanay, you're correct about the gunboat, and it is currently still being worked on as it has some issues due to its size. The way these ships work is that they are available on all servers you signed in to prior to the deadline. This means if you signed into both the PvE and PvP servers you're trying to redeem them on prior to some time on Saturday, the 23rd, those ships will be redeemable on each server you signed in to. If you hadn't signed into a particular server by the deadline, there was no "Character" on that server to which the ships could be awarded and they were therefore not rewarded. So if you had signed into the PvP server you want those ships on prior to the deadline, those ships will still be there so long as you hadn't already redeemed them on that particular server - redeeming them on PvE shouldn't make a difference if you also had them on PvPx. Unfortunately, there is no way to "move" them to a different server.
  25. Exactly right. There is a huge difference between accidentally finding it, trying it again to establish the steps, and then reporting it, providing the names of the people involved in finding it (then never using it again), and finding it, reporting it, then using it over and over for benefit.
