Had you ever redeemed any of the items on that server before? Or did you never get them? Also, which server please?
-
I can't help with the first problem - but as to the second problem, are you playing on the exact same server as the one you created your account on prior to the 21st?

Unfortunately, once hung from the yardarm, a Captain is deader than dead. There is currently no way to recover deleted accounts. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Graphics optimizations are still ongoing - you're right, they're still not as great as they could be. Try disabling AntiAliasing and lowering the water quality for a fast FPS boost.

I need a screenshot of him ramming in between you and your prize please.

That is the temporary port UI, it's normal. -
I love my 970 - play it on Ultra. 960 should be great too if you want to save some gold.

The rank idea just encourages bullying and griefing. I agree, it would be very "in period", but I'm not sure it would work well from a fun game standpoint. -
Damage Farming - Demotions
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
Damage Farming (of the "Against the Rules" variety): Taking a large ship, say a Third Rate, captained by a Pirate or other nation, going into an instance, and then sitting there letting other ships pound on it for XP and Gold. When the ship is getting low, everyone stops, it exits, repairs, repeat, ad nauseum. Effectively, making a ship available to repeatedly pound on while not actually fighting back. If you, say, chase a guy down and agree at the start of the match: "Hey, let's just fight until someone says uncle and then we'll sail off and exit", you're still causing damage to each other, you'll both still need to repair, that's generally ok. There may be some other definitions, but in general, if you're in a battle instance and are fighting your ship to the best of your ability, you'll not fall afoul of the rules. -
From the message, I think that it may be, but that's just a guess. This is likely more of a Steam Issue than a Naval Action issue though.

On damage farming
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
The people we have initially noticed doing this ARE NOT PIRATES. Sorry to rain on your pirate banning parade sir. You don't have the first clue what you are talking about, please stop blaming pirates and start discussing the mechanic. Who did what is OFF TOPIC for this thread. I'm not saying that there aren't pirates doing this, but to continually harp on a nation when we are discussing a mechanic is out of order. Thank you. -

There's already a very healthy thread on this. Please continue the discussion there. Thanks! http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/8263-petition-remove-port-capture-windows/ -
XP Lost after nation change after the update.

I didn't see that that feature had been completed in the patch notes - I think you may have deleted prematurely. Hopefully a Developer will be along to comment. -
Reporting a few toxic people in chat
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Leth's topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
The way to report people who are being toxic in chat is to right click their name when they say something that is against the rules, and then click the "Report" option. You won't see anything happen, but all reports are logged and followed up on. Thank you. Closing case.- 1 reply

Missions for your rank, or one rank below you, should nearly always be soloable if you're in a ship that is correct for your rank. If you want to work together with someone, you'll need to ask for help in Nation chat and see if someone doesn't mind you joining their missions.

Make surrendering worth it.
Henry d'Esterre Darby replied to Meraun's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
A Captain who surrendered to a superior force, after making every effort to escape, was never sanctioned though. Captains weren't expected to fight to the death to keep their rank. They were expected to fight to the best of their abilities and their ships' abilities, but to strike when the situation became hopeless. So long as their losing the ship (due to striking or sinking) wasn't a result of negligence, their rank and stature was retained. As to Durability - allowing you to keep the durability just means that, since the opponent gets your ship, you'd create "duplicate" ships running around out there, which is also a bad idea, and incredibly easily exploited for gain. -
Make surrendering worth it.

A captain firing into a ship that had surrendered, intentionally, is known as a Pirate. Nations simply did not operate that way - if the other ship struck, you ceased fire and sent over a prize crew. In fact, there were a number of instances where a Captain believed the other ship had struck (damage brought the ensign down), sent over a prize crew, who were received by the enemy ship, informed they hadn't yet struck, and were returned to their ship to relay the message and continue the fight. Honor was HUGE in those days, and one conducted himself with same (Pirates excepted of course). The original mechanics forced you to pay repairs on your ship (from 0) if you sank. Surrender you only had to pay repairs for the damage done up to the point you surrendered. This was stranding people without ships when they mistakenly sailed with too little money in their pocket to pay the repair cost. Repairs were removed from sinkings, and surrender became worthless. I believe the implementation of Officers, and maybe Crew will re-energize the surrender button. My current idea is that crew can gain experience with each battle, and the more experience they have, the more (small) buffs to things like reload, sailing, turning, speed, etc. If your ship sinks, you lose your crew - most of them couldn't swim and you didn't necessarily have the boats to carry them all effectively. You also risk losing an officer or two. This will bring back the idea of fighting hard, but when it becomes obvious that you've lost, simply surrendering to save your crew. Very historical. -
More advanced games sometimes need to make a number of connections with a server to work correctly. If you're unable to open certain ports, and they are being blocked without your ability to make modifications to the network, you're unfortunately going to be unable to play the game.

A quick note - if you go to edit your profile, there's an option to rename your forum display name. If it's not already taken, you should be able to drop that extra R.
