  1. If this is done only for port battles so as to not disrupt other game mechanics that rely on BR, I'd support it.
  2. The reason he staggered fire in the books was because those particular ships had older, rotten timbers/frames, and due to their age and decrepitness, would have suffered damage from a unified broadside. Often, in a ship in good condition, the initial broadside went off nearly in a body, followed by individual cannon firing as they were reloaded/bore on the enemy.
  3. This means you logged into the wrong server. Check the other shards and I'll bet you find all of your money and ships.
  4. Ingermanland is in the game - some of us were testing her just prior to EA. She's still being finished, tuned, and balanced, so she isn't available for craft/purchase at the moment, but she is on the way.
  5. Laptop or desktop?
  6. Are you missing the Redeemables on PvP 3 - EU, or PvP 2 - US?
  7. Unfortunately, the bullet log is not conclusive, since it's far easier to edit than a screenshot. That said, there is a system that runs automatically - the interloper got 3x negative XP for damaging your sails and if he does this kind of thing enough, might find some sanctions in his account. Given there isn't enough proof to see conclusively what happened, case is dismissed.
  8. Correct, rank/xp is now tied directly to your Steam Account. Deleting a character simply wipes its assets. I'm not sure GL is currently capable of wiping your entire progress easily.
  9. Forget about Spain in the game (Spain is a victim, to some degree, of the game mechanics themselves - bringing them up directly just turns the thread into another finger pointing and flame war) - let's talk mechanics instead in a general way. Let's go to this thread: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/8775-global-diplomacyand continue the discussion. Thanks.
  10. Was the enemy on fire? Did he perhaps explode and take you out?
  11. 2. A ship can be recaptured or sunk by enemies at any time. Defend your prize. 3. Correct and highly likely. There's no real proof of wrongdoing here. Chat violations are to be reported by right-clicking the offender's name on an offensive statement and clicking "Report". Anything short of screen shots of the actual chat will not work in Tribunal. I see no evidence of actual wrongdoing, case dismissed.
  12. Please see the Defeating a Nation thread - this is already being heavily discussed. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/10533-defeating-a-nation/ Locking as a duplicate.
  13. We don't need yet another thread on Spain and population. To discuss diplomacy ideas, there is a thread here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/8775-global-diplomacy Locking as a duplicate.
  14. I believe Raking will become far more devastating in a near future patch. Hang in there.
  15. People seem to think that cargo was generally these light items that were easily roused to the deck by a couple of hands and thrown overboard. With a limited crew, sure, you could likely get rid of some of the smaller items, but given that some ships were literally stuffed to the gills with cargo (I'm thinking about the hide carrying ships) to the point that come-alongs were used to stuff the hold to the point that the ship's geometry was affected, it wasn't a quick or easy matter to rouse out all of that cargo. That said, warships often dumped their stores, water, and finally cannon to try and get that extra bit of speed, merchants didn't enjoy the sheer number of hands that the warships did. On the one hand, you need to be able to get rid of cargo to make room for other cargo. On the other, there needs to be a reason to chase down traders other than to make them ditch their cargo - there needs to be some sort of reward or why bother? Ditching all of your cargo via the destroy button simply to prevent your enemy from getting it is a little greify to me.
  16. Because she's extremely fast and has boarding bonuses. Very, very useful in particular roles.
  17. That's the spirit, keep up the fight! Defend it, keep it, and wipe the eye of those Boston Beans.
  18. There are quite a few words in the dictionary that we absolutely will not use in polite conversation. Do not "roleplay" slavery, do not call people the N word, there are so many great roles to play from that time, we do not need to drag out the worst in humanity. Now let us go back to blasting each other to smithereens with large bore naval artillery, like civilized gentlemen and ladies.
  19. Supply is no longer as fixed as it was. If you put in a Buy Contract at a port that produces something for a high enough amount, it will auto-fill from "warehouses". There is a limit to the depth of those warehouses, but it's a fast, easy way to get something if you don't mind paying extra for it.
  20. Without further evidence presented, case dismissed. Gatsu - if you can provide concrete evidence of this, please PM myself or Steel Sandwich. Thank you.
  21. Chat bans are never for "no reason". Please see: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/10619-chat-bans-chat-access-limited-here-is-why/ That's the most answer you'll get. Please refrain from violating the rules - that includes excessive profanity, any profanity used towards another player, being disrespectful, trolling, racial or other slurs, etc.
  22. I stopped reading at "Eve", I'll admit that. The Eve system back when I played it was a full cash payout of the bounty to the person podding a player with a bounty on his head. They may have changed that in the past few years. Even with paying out cost of what was "lost", same problem. I get in my Vic, you as my friend Capture the Vic, we get paid. Repeat ad nauseum.
  23. The Eve system is completely broken. Let's say you kill me, and that makes me mad. I put 100,000 gold on your head. Then you kill a few people near me, and they get mad, and they also put a bounty on your head. You then sail back to your buddy, get into a basic cutter, he kills you, and y'all split the bounty. It's like getting screwed twice. In a place where being "killed" doesn't mean anything, bounty systems are completely useless and 99% abused.
  24. You logged out from a different server than the one you logged into. So, let's say you got 3rd rank and your 6-th rate on PvP1. Then, you log out. When you come back to the game, you instead select PvP3 - everything but your rank and craft rank won't be there because it's a different server. Try logging into the other servers and I think you'll quickly find the one where you left your 6th rate. Progress is saved instantly as it is attained.
