  1. Solid write up @Cecil Selous Allow me one detail - ship sturdiness, etc is defined at building shipyard. After it goes on water it never gets better, only worse, so anything fantasy with crewmen allowing the ship to have more "wood thickness" or being overall more resilient is really not okay IMO Questions: given all games i played with similar systems, in PC and tabletop, the existence of the named crewmen system was tied to the fact that it was 1 captain, 1 crew, 1 ship so there wasn't the "problem" of a captain having a "small nation" fleet to manage. So, several crews or one crew shared among all ships with hire/fire system ? Crew allowance paid from income ? Officers in dubloons and hands in pieces of eight ? How are their deaths computed ? They immortal ? I like this approach to roleplay a lot. In another game I really spend a bit of time working out the crew - and even marines, lookouts and cooks have their own names and personalities, but it is single player per se, not a multiplayer by nature.
  2. Sailing the OW you might have PvP whether you don't want it or the other way around. Sometimes a lot, sometimes very little. Sure way to get PvP are the Patrol Zones AND Conquest. but back on topic, Tow to Port was always intended as a "get unstuck from geometry" option, so to overcome a error and not a final mechanic ( was extensively used in testing and manifestely used in other ways by players ). It is still in game for those rare occasions where a player gets sorrowfully stuck in shallows - you can test it yourself, find a position where your ship has shallows all around and the button will show. Ship Tow is a good measure of comfort that allows 1 ship to be placed in whatever outpost you want immediately ( like putting a playing piece in a board ). The limit of one per day is a balancer, not a setback.
  3. Honestly I wouldn't mind that all crafted ships to be plain blue 3/5 ( or 2/5 with extra refit choice ) and get over with it Must say the removal of random may not be a badd idea if we stick to standard quality.
  4. What does that has anything do with my feedback and question ?!... c'mon man, make your own thread if you want to make such suggestion... 🍻
  5. ?? I'm not understanding what you mean. I did not mention captain's account. Referred that stuff you catch have to be sailed until placed in the chest, same as dubloons O_o Plus it is not hardcore. It is loss and gain. My loss your gain. Your loss someone's gain. Major difference.
  6. Ship must sink in the battle. That is the rule in NA for insurance.
  7. Apart from that detail the entire changes surrounding the cargo and transportation of goods seem solid. Albeit lots of clans still having excessive warehouse stashes the trade lanes, and by consequence the raiding and anti raiding spirit of the grand age of sail, seem to be on the rise again. One can only speculate at this point what it would be with clean slate warehouse and nation/clan getting on the move to assemble their fleets once more. One good outtake of the changes is the abundance of frigates in the OW, often squadron with a 74 gun but all in all perceive a more balance composition of the squadrons. I am really appreciating the patch detail about all loot having to be carried until arrival to a safe harbour. It adds a good measure of "the hunt". But I am kind of confused why does the currency and books ( unless they are read by captain on the spot ) has to be transported in the hold but not the modules/equipment ? Shouldn't Modules have the same mechanics as dubloons and only be safe and "teleported" to magic chest once captain reaches safe harbour ?
  8. NPC captured ones. Live of the "land".
  9. All comes down to the game campaign map area ( devs can we have a glimpse ? ) IMO...Too few games using the Mediterranean really ( just as a example, the med was to the germans what the atlantic was to the brits, in ww2 ), and at an age with great navies present there is such a good opportunity to take over Italia, Austro-Hungary, Ottomans, Russian Black Sea fleet, etc.
  10. Frankly that's not my experience. Had combats involving Dianas, Indefatigables, Trincs, L'Hermiones... But sure, experiences may vary.
  11. Intercepting players returning to port full of loot is more certain, that is correct Archaos.
  12. Fireship is a permanent now. So can assume all the missing ones have been removed from book grade and became permanents.
  13. Very nice I like how you link the different in-game models with the storyline. Transition of the LGV to refit is a nice snippet. ( plus I know that burning snow ! )
  14. Some inbound traders have been "randomly" attacked by some of my associates which yielded some good amount of white and live oak that would have, if they arrived safely, secured some of the contracted quantities. Alas they were intercepted. Said amount of prized woods seen their way to La Tortue - the convoy was untouched by enemies, which was surprising - and should be up for sale if not all bought already. It is impossible, virtually impossible, to stop all "auto deliveries" but some may well fall prey to players.
  15. Add my nickname to that list of testers. Thank you.
  16. Keep the RoE of the safezones ( always open for owner ). Make AI aggressive to enemy players - they will actively sail towards and attack enemy players sailing in the area. If possible make OW NPC fleets join ongoing battles.
  17. NPC need to shoot at all ranges. The 50m range seems to make them stop shooting ( so player will keep side by side keeping distance and killing the NPC without a reply ). This has been around forever. IMO this fix alone would raise the bar regarding NPC challenge. Second, add behavior that if the shots to hull angle is too accute the NPC will select to shoot at masts.
  18. If they are farming they will have loot in their hold before they return to port. Kill them. Win win. Actually this is no novelty that RA do taxi a lot in cutters transporting goodies. Get them ( might take a fore and aft ship though )
  19. Moderation actions are not transparent but all abide by the rules established by GameLabs. There's no neon signs saying this or that individual got warned. Accept that it works. Remember, majority of NA players are playing the game, testing, adapting to the project evolutiona and not the least interested in colluding with forum drama. This is a fact. A undeniable fact. Honest, clear and purposeful posts never ever had any counter measures.
  20. I did put that on top of a Redoutable Refit ship captured from the AI lovely.... *sigh* Still maintain my liking for marginal gains ( F1 racing style ) from the tinkering with different equipment.
  21. All feedback is personal. There's no such thing as "we". That being said, it is an opinion but given the forum is a open public place owned and rules by GameLabs there are certain duties that come hand in hand with liberties. Respecting the game designers has nothing to do with not agreeing with their design. Thought provoking posts is one thing; I do it, others do it as well, and admin certainly does it. Why ? Simple - write EXACTLY what you mean. Explain in detail, as it is hard to survey thoughts through the internet. Honesty in feedback is essential. Example: A) this patch sucks because now I cannot build ships. devs don't know how to code, etc B.) this patch makes it very difficult to continuously gather resources and permits to build ships of the line. I understand that frigates became more easy but I'm not looking to play anything else than ships of the line. ... B is way more clear and honest than A, which is totally unacceptable and meaningless and just a spoiled brat rant. ( i gave the example of crafting but could be any aspect that gets changed and we hate that our toys got moved aka. "who the f.... moved my cheese !?" syndrome ) Best advice is to read what you wrote a couple times before clicking Submit Reply. This is the Internet and if we do not make an effort to communicate in a clear and honest way the message will be lost, misinterpreted and give way to misunderstandings.
  22. Duel Tournaments still a thing to come, right ?
  23. Clubs were created with that in mind, so that creators could manage and moderate themselves. https://forum.game-labs.net/clubs/ My guess is that ... they are not as public as they should, hence trolls avoid it given very little visibility to their arts and science. If you intend to close your own topic, just report it for closure, and moderation team will certainly help.
  24. Both are, at this stage in development, accessible as Admiralty Rewards, in the Admiralty screen in port ( White Building ) via the PvP tab. There are no blueprints. Alternatively the L'Hermione can be captured from the OW NPC.
  25. 🤨 ... please read that slowly.
