  1. I know man. I suggested Career modes a long ago. Imagine that a player wouldn't be able to command a 74 gun ship if he didn't prove worthy to the Admiralty... neither a frgate... and be relegated to brig work in some corner of the empire until he did prove worthy.... oh the hooooorrrror 😮
  2. Been discussed to the grave. Let's get over it.
  3. Then go out and PvP. Example: Why would any captain/player be given a Admiral station when he runs away from minor rates when confronted ? He should be trialed for cowardice. That's how "make your own story" can help you, as opposed to a career based where cowardice, as per many navy regulations, would mean stripping rank and income.
  4. More reward. This can mean he had more battles but somewhere he killed more valuable targets in comparison ?
  5. I was the most honest i could. Anything that provokes "discomfort" on alt usage is a plus for me. If they managed until now, they can live without auto-follow ; same as with any player. Chaos in a line of battle is great, imo.
  6. Like 9 other accounts that are in my group that are all mine ?
  7. Anything that puts more "discomfort" on alt usage is a plus for me. Hence I cannot, personally, agree with this "auto follow".
  8. Make your own "story". That's open world. Are you a captain of daring deeds, a trade empire mogul, or just a simple footnote ? Only your choices and actions, naval actions, will confirm your choices.
  9. I think you should playtest and experience the changes with a light heart and report as many errors, bugs and participate with your feedback.
  10. Around 10 Special named AI in their "as historical as possible" ship models all around the map would be okay. Entire fleets or a lot of them, maybe not. Safe zones aggressive AI ? Sure. If we going to have them safe zones at least make raiders have a sweat.
  11. Is a odd one, granted, but guess amount of battles is not really a concern. BR per kill vs Loot seems the leading factor.
  12. Drake fell of grace after attempting to attack Lisbon ( under Filipe I, II of Spain). Enough said.
  13. There's different Marines sets for 7 - 6 rates 5 - 4 rates 3 - 1 rates Can you please make sure you acquired the Marines set you intended for the ship rate you trying to use ?
  14. This is EXACTLY what "thousands of players" ( to use your expression ) expect of the War server. Interleaving AI attack with engaging enemy nation player is nothing to be ashamed of.
  15. And yes, I want to be able to build the classic, same as Diana, and I am sure it is coming with EconomyTwo. At the moment our group strives to capture classics and dianas to satisfy the lack of crafting. We really like them. And we also put them in the line of fire, daily. Kudos to the guys using them without fear of loss. That's what War server is about. Crafting will come.
  16. Every Port Battle that is set ( by whatever mechanic ) should generate a Patrol Zone in the Port area with the rules you propose. - I like the 1v1 - I like the squadron vs squadron
  17. A player can optimize its OW operations, say for a week. Take several Search&Destroy or Hunt missions that share same targets - yes yes you might have to sail and visit a few ports, sorry. Example of this is having 3 missions - 2 Hunts and 1 S&D for 5thrates, no model discrimination - and for each 5th rate the player sinks it will count for all 3 missions. This means you can do them by enjoying sailing around and engaging the targets in the open sea ( both Peace and War servers ). For War server specifically, one can fulfill those missions really fast by taking hostility missions - take your 5th rates so it spawns 5th rates - or by engaging other players, actively sailing with the purpose of hunting the enemy frigates, kind of "create your own content". You don't need to do the PortBattle, just the missions and if the hostility gets invaded, well, that's kind of good right ? PvP is PvP. Not only when we want it, but as it comes ( my point of view ). In Peace server things are more linear and relaxed ( with the added bonus of being able to capture ANY ship from the AI ). True it might be lacking a "single player" storyline thing but that might not be intended ( no idea ) given it is a multiplayer game and Peace is like a "coop" mode without pvp. Time spent in NA to do anything is never linear - one might have one day non stop of pvp and the next one being fairly absent.
  18. War server means that a enemy may be anywhere. It may be just a guy that is making missions as well, but suddenly comes upon you and attacks. Battle happens. You cannot go hunting PvE without expecting, at some point, to come across a enemy player. Although it may well pass an entire week without it happening. Peace server means than no enemy can ever engage you in battle. Choices must be made, but playing both servers is what many Naval Action players do and have characters in both although tending more to one or the other.
  19. We all must start to state specifically, when we write our opinions, what server we play on, and if both make a clear distinction on each topic. War and Peace servers have much to gain from many and all of the changes.
  20. 100% correct. Fremantle was the one attacked by Headgerald and originating the battle. Tricks might have been in the circle or joined later. But it is of no consequence. Maybe Attacker didn't see correctly and decided to disengage, which he did. Not different from a thousand other encounters in the OW, unless there's more data which has not been provided by OP.
  21. He tagged your friend, then you joined, then he ran away. Just for the sake of Tribunal rules, what exactly is the case that is not similar to any other OW battle ? ( unless you didn't post all the data needed )
  22. A lot things can happen in a battle. The rigging can go up in flames ( maybe the visuals are not entirely perfect though ) as it depends on the fire position - you can see the rigging be damaged ( by value ) and the higher the flames the worst it becomes. Another nice thing we caught in the last week, thanks to @Vernon Merrill, was the explosions of different magazines - ship got fire, magazine exploded, it survives with massive damage and crew still but the fire continued and ignited a second magazine generating a second explosion which finally ended the struggle.
