  1. Er... Am i seeing this being pushed towards Stats ego-show-off ? That's why I vouch for totally blind results/thresholds and even non-linear awards.
  2. “Yes, the objective of any general is to defeat the enemy, but that doesn’t mean you should be a boor about it.”
  3. Have no clues about the Fame. Make it completely secret. When player gets it, he gets it. Also wins vs losses, all being equivalent to fame in age of sail, would mean that a loss can be really catastrophic ( loss of commission and early forced retirement ) while wins can represent less than expected ( forcing captains to more and more daring acts), so a 1.0 to 1.2 harsh Admiralty points on wins:losses
  4. That same ruse was used by ... all "sea cultures and nations". From traders ( with one quarter only with real guns, after all carriages take too much real estate), to fire ships, to rovers trying to look menacing.
  5. Search for the Articles of Capitulation on the Swedish / Danish West Indies territories. It might give some insight on what can be sorted out regarding loss of regional power. The voting system for the Outpost seems unnecessary to me IF all regional capitals would be a Naval base which yields both a reward ( ship docks ) and a risk if lost to enemy.
  6. This is one of the most painful and truthful parts of your post and it applies not only to Conquest but also to many other aspects of the game. Are we striving for quality of the "hobby" amongst ourselves or are we in eternal competition ? What do you suggest that can be done ? We all know that player communities can rule themselves and weed out undesirable personalities.
  7. Can we add this ? On going Battle swords disappear for player upon entering port. On going Battle swords not visible until after 30 minutes on the open world ( similar to planned for PB entry ).
  8. This requires a preparation of a Career/Officer system so there's a clear distinction and Admiralty/Maritime boards assignments and respective systems.
  9. Not a half-bad reason for me to kickstart on pvp2 just give the shout and i'll be a happy fisherman.
  10. The Governor. Can't beat that
  11. Maybe a "RP clan" can become active on this and make up their own playstyle.
  12. Please, make your statement present in this thread
  13. And GoodTime, make extensive use of the Help chat channel in game. There's plenty of people there exchanging experiences and helping with doubts about mechanics, interface and how to go up the learning curve.
  14. Or a recording if possible.
  15. Thread has run its course. Need more Diplomacy, role-play, events, battle reports and less forum pvp

  16. Anything that replaces "ranks by grinding" is fine with me.
  17. "...That summer, the Prince evaded no fewer than seventeen British warships that chased and tried to capture the swift American privateer." "...a squadron of three British frigates finally captured the Prince..." [ Smithsonian Institute of American History - On the Water ]

  18. What endgame ? Retiring from a Naval Career ? Becoming a Trading Mogul ? Getting hanged at Charleston gallows for pyracy ? Port Battles, despite bringing a possible 50 players into one spot ( or more if there's more PBs ) will never draw as much attention as the entire OW map activities. Solution is FFA politics, no more alliances. How does that sound ?

  19. Plan your cruises and balance what you can gain against what you can afford to lose. The more you play the better you get.
  20. Fast access ( low speed & mobile ), clear index, engaging content.
  21. Wind wind wind... ... also, not all battles need to be a running battle ( full sail and turn and burn ) and not all battles must end in sinking ships or capturing them. Retreating with style is a valid tactic.
  22. Aye, he does it. Yet a image can't replace a good 1000 words reading
  23. All of us and all the wars fought in the last year. Damn it, we need a historian librarian, hard to keep track of all the documentation in NN.
