Would a pump suit help and be a product to enable marathon streamers to keep their blood flowing ? Oh business opportunities -
Nice touch on the casualties tally.

Was answering the question. But regarding the game itself the structural integrity play a part no ? From what I tested before, equally matched ships if not on continuous raking positions will slog it off for a long time. If a light frigate gets under fire from a 64 it will pay dearly if falling out of position. When rakes are correctly applies then it rewards with tremendous catastrophic damage. IMO the warship(s) vs warship(s) combat initial distance is what is not correct. No way on earth and under all Fighting Rules and Articles of War and Rules of Engagement a warship from a enemy nation would ever come closer than 750m in extreme without being considered ready for combat and open to be fired upon with all cannon. We still retain the possibility to override such realities and tag a mighty 74 gun with a corvette right under the shadow of a quarterdeck... -

Still a good stretch every 90 minutes ( 10 minutes break ) is a must i would say, even being fit. -

Quebec vs. Surveillante by Rossel de Cercy During the duel not a single rake pass was done, all shooting was broadside to broadside. One naval author writes "The gunnery duel continued until about one o'cIock when the Surveillante's masts went overboard together" Antoine Vanner, Duty and Daring in the Heyday of Empire[1] -
PSA To All Streamers - Don't Over-Do It

Not really surprised... Is not the first and sadly will not be the last. Too many streamers lost the sense of community and good content service IMO. There are still a lot of good gamer crews out there that host proper educated and mature shows, usually 1 to 2 hours length. On the charity marathons and example is the D&D team, yes that's pen and paper :), makes the same charity runs on stream and works as a team covering the entire 24 hours without any single one going off board with too much time sitting and not sleeping. -

Sail configuration for turning thru the wind
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Farrago's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Hence different models behave differently. Many runners if kept unchecked will go out of position really fast and drift too far - Trincomalee being the fatal example - so keeping he under a good manual leash is essential. Constitution as well as she likes to pick up speed as soon as possible although being heavier she can hold a firing angle better coming out of a dead on wind.- 9 replies

There are ships which names became History and the names of the commanders just a footnote. -
This is old discussion but you are placing "men under the law" in the same bag as "enemies of mankind", that's absolutely not the same. If anything the truest form of pyrate would have less access to outposts and indeed had to search if any given port at any given time would even take their prized cargo. Now, I think the very basis of the suggestion is about power at sea between national navies and associated privateer armateurs and the libertalian form of pyracy. Nations vs Pirates in the true sense is a complete asymmetrical design and very much like a regular army versus insurgents.

Sandbox still offers the players that want to play as sea rovers that opportunity. It is just subjective to the player self-imposed playstyle rules. I think the entire suggestion lies more into packing the pirate option in a box, like many times before and to make them... rare and not the obvious choice. On the other hand it offers liberty of action ( let's dismiss the %% bonuses presented ) that might suit a lot to limited time players.

Sail configuration for turning thru the wind
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Farrago's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Faster or tighter ? Therein lies the decision made by captains when deciding for less or more canvas or depowering or not during the tack. With full you will be out of the eye of the wind already picking up and extending. With less canvas you don't let them ladies on a free rein but can provoke a faster turn angle. Some ships have the big stay sails and spanker which behave better going through the incoming wind, jib and fore stay help keeping speed very close to the wind ) and spanker helps the return. You can compare the Snow and the Brig in regard of the squared rigs speed vs radius of the tack onto the incoming wind. Also Trincomalee and Essex should be a good test as well. Someone please clarify anything I've written that is wrong.- 9 replies

I know what you say too much. Still data is important regarding "customer engagement" as a whole. That's the closes false fact that we can have to measure "the fun people are having". Plus there's nothing wrong with "self imposed" rules in a sandbox. The red call to attention is simply to bring discussion to the track by the way and not divert into a playstyle/time vs playstyle/time. We all know too well and there's always someone out there that will outplay. -

It is the right game for anyone that wants to play it. All players have their standards, playstyles and time investment. Let's not judge lest not be judged... by cannon and cutlass -
The Special Event swords were not really used but I remember entering on some ( I would find them in the open sea in the middle of the map ) and if memory serves me it had named character that were really tough given they were AI. The rewards were nice same as their ships. So, if those same "privateers" will be now roaming the seas, here and there, we might get a chance to see them back.

Fishing event
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to PIerrick de Badas's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
It is of note that many sea rovers since the buccaneer age and throughout the 1812 war did indeed hit the white/fishing fleets taking very good proceedings, especially from fish oil - as valuable as petroleum is today... oh the irony -

Exactly. The time value of a ship depends on the time investment done by a player. One of the investments is to have a ship at hand to use and not necessarily if it is a 1st rate or a Brig - totally dependent on player preference
