  1. That's the midnight fog happens once in a full cycle except when there are storms.
  2. 16 miles is the horizon spotting range in a extremely clear day - one can see a puff of white in the horizon and shout "Sail! Sail!" and with no chance to know what origin, type of ship, etc In game we have well over 50km at all times - click sail, all info is there. Should the information box of the sighted ship hide some info until the enemy ship is within 2nd circle distance ?

  3. Signaling works perfectly. There's no need to bait, the rattlesnake simply attacks and the battle will stay open for a long time.

  4. Interesting that with the upcoming curve of Br and numbers of ships this problem won't exist making the true nature of a invasion fleet to be undisclosed and make the frigates the true eyes of the fleet. You simply have information that a lot is going on on some port. After that is up to the defending nation to organize, spy, scout, and gauge wind and time to potential targets. It is my firm belief it is a system worth trying as it pertains inclusive and exclusive choice for both sides in a war and surely works with a 24/7 worldwide community and at the same time giving the clans their importance and not blocking non clan players from the conquest mode, as they can also setup operations on their own with other buddies without clans or small clans.
  5. And there will be even less if you keep pushing for a CET server.
  6. Right... the +5 is to GMT as much as the -5 of the East Coast then. Hence I ask which of the EU timezone you refer to.
  7. You are totally correct. The game should from now on be focused on proper age of sail trade and the wars resulting from that. Need a living world full of activity, pve and pvp that may lead to wars and big battles where winning and losing makes sense.

  8. There are plenty of players at 1:40AM server time ( and up to 2:30 AM taking from yesterday sample ) and the ones I saw were spanish and french nations and sailing west yucatan and gulf of mexico. No idea if they participate in conquest though.
  9. To me it does, sorry. But maybe just maybe you are right and EU centric players have their way. The Devs will decide whatever. We will keep this tug-of-war until a decision is made. I hang tough and stand my ground. Want to play in a OW populated at all times not just when you want. Conquest is just one part of the game. You cannot simply make a decision of splitting the server based on one aspect of the game.
  10. Getting rid of players ?! Is that your solution for a worldwide community ? Your European centric mentality really hurts my western european timezone to the point when I leave office at a normal time all the conquest stuff is already done and underway. Should we suggest to get rid of players that have no out-of-game schedules ? Seriously, just seriously, take a step back and read what you wrote. Split the community in 2 server will result in the same. Whatever EU server you imagine will be split in 3 - eastern europe time, central and western.
  11. Maybe Yar is right, maybe I am the exception but in the last 4 hours of gameplay we, yankee privateers, did intercept no less than four trade convoys and two warship patrols - that's a 4 hours period of sailing and battle instances - not bad. Does it have a consequence in the big scheme of Conquest ? No idea and to be honest I don't want to know. It is simply the Action, the Naval pursuit of prize, the chase and the escape, the bouncing enemy trade and extend safely from the counter coast guard deployment. Obviously I would entertain myself with PvE activities IF those would be streamlined line a string of pearls. Finding clues here and there about a Special Event ship. Anchoring at remote locations like log camps, fisher villages, taking on special passengers, or even aid a revolution somewhere by smuggling goods like essential supplies or weapons. What I do agree with the testbed notes is the moving of PvE missions to the Open World, as a chase, as a pursuit of, instead of the same old same old - take quest, run, do quest, return - which I personally find abhorrent. There's more space in Naval Action to expand to both sides, PvP and PvE, but we must be ready for compromise. We can't have everything at all times when we want. Here are a lot of suggestions made to make everything in game more interesting - http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/19135-open-worldinstance-fog-clouds/ http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/18844-rivers-and-mills/ http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/19086-post-battle-salvaging/ ... http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/18934-new-shipwreck-mechanic/ http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/18757-suggestion-to-track-navy-career-beginning-to-end/ ... http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/18641-suggestion-gaming-session-logs/http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/18838-suggestion-lord-protectors-war-fleets/ http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/18854-crafted-ships-with-default-national-colours/ ... http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/18476-splitting-crew-into-ordinary-and-able-seamen/ http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15843-suggestion-mission-types-ideas/ ... http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/17917-visual-overflow-in-shop-harbor/ http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/17957-a-real-navy-has-a-real-navy-yard/ There's so many many more. Will take some time re-indexing them all so they don't fall out of memory. In the meanwhile is nice to spend a bit of time and even ressurrect some of them even if old.
  12. Generally put we do not engage unless we are almost sure of win. Just had a Constitution and Endymion retreating after pressing attack after noticed we were 2 instead of 1, a surprise and a rattlesnake. I rest my case. And I have no issues with that mind you It is what it is. War for the upper hand by use of the open world and kind of fair fights were not the norm then and will never be here unless arenas. Game might lack PvE content, totally agree no doubt there, but PvP content is us. Only us.
  13. In truth we players, we playerbase, do not want evenly matched fights or else the Small battles would be full all the time. Very generic I know but it cannot be denied. That's the nature of the beast. Even against AI we try to always have the edge. Or going out to a wreck or transporting good from place to place with a NPC fleet. Considering only and simply this aspect of the game - the pure battle - the tug-of-war in the OW of running away and chasing, involving war squadrons is all about one having a edge over the other or one feeling that the fight is too evenly matched and as such decides to give room and move away from a too equally matched situation, literally a 50-50. - "unfair" and true to the age of sail west indies, to a point. Even the Fighting Instructions for the RN indicated that a Flag Squadron would detach enough force to have one edge, in 1 ship or total guns/weight of shot - to engage a enemy squadron. It was never equal, by the book. Most of times it came down to captain decision when they engaged in inferiority, pretty much as in NA.
  14. So having different nations admirals setup now and then Large Battles could help having some guys get introduced to "trafalgars" and possibly win their shoulder pads ?
  15. Oh I don't disagree. We, community, need to be more welcoming to the newcomers and that means from all timezones. We are not a mirror of the RL age of sail. We are re-writing fictional history . I just remembered that communication is a good start on a Nation chat and not alienating anyone from the action is also a good second step.
  16. Two things I have came to notice regarding the awesome wave of newcomers recently that might or not be tied to population spread and nation/clan politics indirectly They remade character in other nations due to some nation(s) having little or almost no english being used. They wish some nations would be more universal and less language focused. It is a community issue. On the opposite side of the coin we have a lot of native language players that do not write or understand english that join nations due to language issues. Again a community issue. So better get to work and welcome all in a good universal way/language than struggling with population issues because the game-nations self isolate themselves when they unware impose barriers.
  17. Do not mix real life politics with in game nations. Please ?
  18. Roger. Misread but the note stays. IIRC the hostility update sometimes takes a bit to process.
  19. War supplies only work up to region hostility 50%. Nothing is added above 50% if the region is already at 50% due to combat.
  20. Some clans changed nations to balance the timezones where it was needed. Thank you for your post and due to chances of a strawman burning pyre it is hence locked but readable.
  21. As long as I can raid the Spanish treasure fleets ( and fishing white fleets ) the diplomats can do whatever. Personally I would favour siding with French corsairs doubles rather than the Brittish "let's raid with squadron of 8+"
  22. *watching* This is such a good initiative, glad you didn't drop the idea. The video synch with the map is another plus. Funny points to the low rhythm soothing tones, as good academics studying a battle of old . Will expect a head-to-head special with both commanders of one battle down the line.
  23. It is good idea. Having a "Tavern" at each port with missions to be taken, bounties to hunt, etc.
  24. Not saying you are wrong, just saying that expecting the Developers to take care of it is a incorrect presumption - especially when there's alts taking spots that could be used for other players as well. But let's not get muddy. Back to the subject, seeing the amount of Port Battles scheduled for today we should see a lot of action, both at interdiction level and inside the ports.
