  1. The Chance take on the Amiable Maria. Interesting quote by Nicholas Dawlish - "At this remove in time it is difficult to imagine just how savage a boarding action could be. In a novel it may occupy a few pages, in a movie some minutes, but the reality of hacking, stabbing and shooting in a small area sometimes lasted for hours."
  2. Give me a few days, will find you a handful of examples all within NA timeframe. But the Isabella, commander Hornsby, against the Brancas, captain André, comes to mind although the boarding action lasted very long ( they always do ) the numbers are stuff of legend.
  3. All wishful thinking Slim. I rather not have it than have rampant powergamers taking advantage of every loophole.
  4. I interpret that as ( and please do not take this as a negative remark, it is just a observation ) we need more and more and more there's no limit for what we need.
  5. No you would'nt, how dare you even bring arms to a civilized discussion with a fellow you want to buy favours from... You know what actually happened ? Your rudder and sails would be ordered to be taken out as punishment for being an upstart like in so many recorded instances. Back to subject, - Is there a limit of slots for ships on sale ? If not then any prolific ship builder can pump out as many ships as he wants. Slots represent "personal fleet" ( whatever than means in this abstract world ).
  6. Must bring profit to the town, that's the only way a Governor would ever reward a captain. Plenty of instances recorded of how Governos would... reward seafarers and ALL involved coin coming in to town.
  7. Start a new game from scratch ? Sounds okay Hopefully a 1:1 timespace scale, no instances. I'm game.
  8. Mechnics wise same nation cannot attack same nation. ( so far nation is the baseline guiding rule for each player. Nation first, clan second. ) Should a "rebel nation" be dynamically created ? That is a interesting point, and a clan could use enough influence ( marks or whatever ) to "rebel against tyranny".
  9. I think it was a suggestion relating to Conquest that gave way to some changes, like the one you refer. Gaining access to said resources is meant to be a driving force in Conquest.
  10. Me neither. A rulebook are words explaining how rules work Any table wargame rules can be translated into machine code
  11. Suggest them in detail. Like a rulebook. That can be check for possibility of being put into code.
  12. Er... external intervention = Other Nation taking the ports. You'll be pushed to valley forge situation. What you gnona do about it !? Claim exploit or fight ?
  13. Given that a Major colonial power is moving in to intervene and establish control and order over the area... ... no idea. Tories and Patriots games ?
  14. Big problem. Who are you, or me, or another player, to define some clan as Rebels ?
  15. I want nothing just stating that "exploit" word is used too often.
  16. Peter and the Wolf. Everything is an exploit....
  17. hours... like what ? From Charleston to El Toco ? That's hours.
  18. Good. The best fitted and equipped ship, with the best crew, with the best captain will achieve the historical recorded best speeds. Thank you very much. Which players !? You or me ? Them or us !? The others or these ones !? Let's test please.
  19. Wonder if it possible for @Ink @admin to add profile fields. - In-Game Nation -
  20. What if a captain serves "5 different nations in the time span of 10 years" like a dutch buccaneer in the late 1600's... ?
  21. Game - Forum synch would be perfect * wink wink * if some folk wouldn't be ********** and used it for less than gallant purposes. ***** **** ***
  22. I see nothing relation to nation, just Location. Is that what you are describing ?
  23. Can't say I remember his name, we crossed his path a few times near Belize, Salamanca inlets, and in some other area. He was running the 100 days at sea and as far as I know he did them, living of nothing but raided ships. He was using a Prince de Neufchattel all the times we crossed his routes.
  24. Would do a profit in "stolen goods" and collateral bounce back. ( just like IRL but then they had courts to judge such cases, we do not ) E : D is fully on the freighter.
  25. Knowing the enemy has one less warship. Capturing the trade goods of the enemy nation. Interdicting the routes behind the lines. So many reasons other than marks. Admiralty could pay your Admirals the allowance, guaranteed cash every 30 days at sea plus share bonuses for prizes ( not sinkings, that's your duty ). O a lot could be done with career papers and not marks. ...* wakes up *...
