  1. Thank you for the description. I knew, by friends that played it for a decade that many, of late years, content is curated. The same happens with Elite D, but is somewhat different. The purpose was exactly... 150 planks !? 40 frames !? No sir... it is a National Home Fleet ship, it is a death star of the seas. It will take as much manpower and resources as it befits a ship of such power. It will allow you to conquer land and new resources.
  2. They will be added to his library/blueprint collection automatically. No items. aka. congratulations, your alts have now 49,999% more entries in their library/blueprint plans.
  3. Finally, closure rate ! Thank you.
  4. Rather destroy the eco of marks and make them soulbound and have the modules and books added to player library/blueprints. Rather have the proper eco working.
  5. Not necessarily. Pomone being a magnificent example with the RN putting a lot of resources to sea to capture her due to being good ( and famous ). Not the captain
  6. That's what the sandbox means. Get to the same results by different means. Example, putting drops aside - crafting a ship piece by piece or getting a ship with pewpew marks. Both should be possible and equivalent in investment. Back to drops - Drops in PvE -or- available in Admiralty for pewpew marks ( against, balance supported by investment spent to achieve same results - if a X drop take 500 pve ships to drop, in average, it should cost a fair amount of marks, not only 10. )
  7. Hire a "private company" to exert and extend your power to those areas. Such as RN Admiralty relying a lot of East Company shipping for the far east territories during certain troubled times. Simulate history a bit with some imagination and social aspects inherent to a multiplayer game. Just giving out ideas and why they are according to age of sail history.
  8. Loosen up. There's even solar sails across the sea as we speak. Reckon the - want a game that relies of experience of the age of sail versus some science fiction thing - wasn't properly explained. That's the clutch - if I wanted this I would play eve. There's no comparison, one is not sci-fi.
  9. *sips good cuban coffee aboard the yacht while hearing the slow gentle roll of the waves against the hull* *seaguls laughing overhead* Science Fiction sir... please. It is not about the GAME, is about the EXPERIENCE provided by the game. Any rulebook can be used and adjusted to provide a credible experience if needed be. Such as having a open world sim or a arena environments. This is the Age of Sail, not some Sci Fi dreams of aliens. * watches new 3 mast yacht with the new solar power sails make way into the dock * They look horrible. Honest.
  10. How long to assemble a 1st rate equivalent ? How much trade and hauling to assemble the equivalent of a PB fleet ?
  11. How is the age of sail in Eve ?
  12. While the 5 slots of knowledge would be a proper upgrade for her, after all she has been refit for "robbers at sea" use, she has 3 innate slots already - boarding guns, preparation and extra crew. She isn't widely used because she isn't OP nor meta. She is a fine trade raider. And does this job perfectly. She's a "robbers at sea" refit. Not a "naval frigate powerzorz refit". Fine tuned to hit whatever she can overpower and run from whatever is a menace is very possible and challenging.
  13. Do you use the Intel HD onboard graphics for anything at all ? Not sure if related but, if it was me, I would disable them on the BIOS/EFI setup.
  14. They won't. The possibility of reward does not surpass the need of safety. The possibility of experiencing the full age of sail in the west indies simulation must be the driving force behind it and not only the - pvp for the sake of pvp. It is a volatile mixture of not embracing the full experience, both wins and losses come what may and learn as you go, and the non stop ego wars, as many fellows confide - no godamn way they gonna give some brat the satisfaction of posting a silly chat box or a gank screen, they came after work to have a good game and not to feed some needy ego that doesn't even GG. I totally get them and try, at best, to encourage to go out and learn as the vets did. And I am talking for long years and thousand of hours of game with tons of changes every month, as a game under development is meant to. Still they strive due to basic knowledge never gets lost. Grab your buddies and get out there.
  15. Main reason for the establishment of Colonies was trade and control of trade routes.
  16. Fair enough. I support everything that brings us closer to the age of sail experience and more away from the counterstrike rvr metashipzorz.
  17. Er... pain is fleeting. Wasn't the officer loss a unwelcome mechanic !? ( same as everything hardcore ? )
  18. Actually they were created exactly as a protective measure for new and prospective future admirals to have a safe area where they could "learn" the game without being under siege. Obviously this implies both navy and maritime trade occupations. Let's grab the bull by the horns.
  19. So.... we returning to "officer lives" again... just with a different name... ? I thought it was a unwelcome mechanic
  20. If we ever return to a state where there's raiding for cargo everywhere ( and marks are not the reward ... tbh marks will always beat the value of cargo 5 times minimum ) then I would definitely need the 3rd option you propose. If...
  21. cadets should start at the Naval Academy on PvE server. Upon passing final exams have the choice to graduate and be stationed in the Caribbean or remain at home. ( meaning free character transfer to the pvp server ) No idea how easy or hard this is to the database works.
