Captin, we're safe! .. Are we?

Number of nations definitely needs to be reduced. We are currently spread far too thin for our player base size. A lot of the reason folks are able to gank in safe zones currently is because they is a reduced risk of reinforcement by other players. Kinda. There needs to be other incentives for players to leave safe zones also other than just increase mission XP and payout. I would almost suggest that the nations have a 2nd area that is non-capturable but not a safe zone. Players can craft higher level ships there without risking losing their shipyards BUT still have to traverse some risk to do so. Basically what Belize is to KPR. Hence what I mean by progression. High Sec - low level crafting - no pvp Low Sec - mid level crafting - battles stay open Null Sec - open crafting - no PVP restrictions I'd say players need to be progressed along by the game, gently, from high all the way to null sec. Null sec is the proverbial sandbox of player owned ports and anything goes. -

I've made similar suggestions in the past. Most traditional MMOs have multiple sectors with different ROE to protect their new players and ensure they turn into old players. NA fails hard in this. I'd add a couple features to your green zone idea - Basic ships are only craftable in protected ports. Maybe green quality or basic 3/5 blues. This would ensure noobs can still craft and do their thing AND vets cannot abuse the zones to craft good ships. - Cannot tow in or out a ship or OW tow to any protected port. All goods must be shipped in or out. Again, noobs stay in the zone vets can't hide in it. Major problems with your idea. - too many nations - not enough players - no natural progression to player owned ports -
WAR of the LOVERS! Spain VS France

Technically the only evening PB I was in against KoC while in Russia was Hat Island where we won 🙂. I had forgotten about that battle, that was a fun one. The pirates are in a weird spot during the evenings. Both the US and France have 2-3x our regular numbers and debacles like Saint Nic ensure that we get screened out wherever we go. I mean you saw UWS' numbers up at San Jose. Them + WO + BLANC....we've got no shot at night. While we're not really heavily RVR inclined (we just like doing PVP really) not being able to make into most PBs is rather annoying.....so we simply don't bother anymore. That was until Spain stuck their nose into our business. But we set out what we aimed to do in taking Key West, sunk a fleet, and now just sit back and PVP most evenings. It's rather enjoyable. The only teaming up we did was when we happened to run into US players grinding hostility and decided to sink them in return for closer huntings grounds. It's nice being able to sail 5mins now. Generalissimo Christoph sounds better IMO. -

Most of us just PVP at night? Last week during the botched multi flips my guys sunk US time zoned players trying to flip a port. So I fail to see the problem. Last night I was dodging revenge fleets up on the east coast and kingys gang was sinking brits. RVR is pretty quiet at night, most of us don’t want to own more ports than we can afford to put timers on. A lesson perhaps Spain should learn. Though now that the shallows aren’t all requin fests it might be fun to go back to trying those. We’ll see. -

Except a mechanic to prevent said night flips is available for everyone to use. Unlike last time. Such a key mechanic was omitted from your whine posts. Curious. Put timers on the ports you want or risk losing them. Seems like a reasonable request to me. Hold less territory if you can’t afford a lot of timers. Both of you were Russian when night flips were on your side for a while and most of the Belize area was taken from the Brits at night. Most of the ports Spain owns currently in that region were take directly by the Russian night crew. It was ok then though? Maybe you should give them back to GB? Another thought is that these are self inflicted wounds. Spain wasn’t attacked until JAGs and 7up started meddling in the night crews RVR fights. Perhaps you should be picking your faction leaders a bit more wisely. Spain directly ended an evening feud or “war” between 2 nighttime groups that have been fighting each other for over a year. Quite a feat I must add. Both of you seem to also omit that these 2 factions that stopped attacking each other did so for a reason. They’ve also been fighting each other since well before the merge. We stop for 2 weeks and folks lose their minds So TLDR, put timers on your ports and stop letting JAGs do diplo stuff. -
sssssshhhh no they don't 😉

Bath salts Graf and his revisionist history is at it again. First you didn’t want the ports...now you do... yikes. Does your madness fit the narrative or is it the other way around. By the looks of it France and Pirates have the ports they want and 7ups tax bill keeps getting bigger. I don’t have the lust for dots on the map that Rax or others seem to have. I’m comfortable with a little condo on the water at Key West paid for by Spanish clans.

Spain - We don't want useless ports! Attacks Cayo Bisc.

You need to better understand how herding grazing animals works. You have to direct them to different fields from to time to let the grass grow back. WO's currently keeping track of them on the back 40 and once they run out of grazing land there the herd will migrate up north where the grass is nice and thick. Then we'll go back out and cull. It's simple sustainable farming.

Nah we got the northern part of the Stargate. WO can have the rest. We’ve been quiet lately hoping WO pushes the herd more northerly.

I don't seem to recall 10+ princes in deep water PBs. This is a problem exclusive to DLC ships. They've ruined shallow and now deep water PBs. A simple fix would be no DLC ships in port battles ever. I feel this correction would balance the battles out, save the developers work in having to heavily balance shallow water ships relative to DLC ships AND more importantly, it fixes the ethical dilemma of having P2W ships in conquest battles. Right now to win shallow water port battles you have to bring requins. If you don't shell out the 15-20 dollars you are unable to flat out compete in bahamas port battles. This is not good. A more elaborate suggestion one would be to remove shallow water ships with the exception of mortar brings from all deep water battles. Like it used to be for the past couple years. I"m not sure why shallow water ships were allowed to enter deeps, but the removal of the restriction has let to far less dynamic and entertaining port battles since. It was a poor choice. The longer this takes to get fixed the more players are leaving the game over this issue. The le requin/herc in port battles should of been resolved 2 months ago.- 80 replies

I'd prefer zero DLC ships in PBs as I've parroted here on the forums for weeks. Hercs do seem like a natural counter to requins, it'd be nice to have them in shallow battles again IF we must have DLC ships in them.

Not tying to steal UWS's thunder here, but this video is of the PB sunday up at San Jose Watching this I feel like the herc is a good counter to the requin in PBs. Too bad one is allowed in and not the other.

DLC ships in PBs needs to be fixed ASAP
Christendom replied to Christendom's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Alts aren't required. You don't HAVE to use one in the game. Owning one or two helps and it does give a huge advantage, but it's not necessary. The requin is required to win shallow port battles. See the difference? This is pay to win. While I'm not a huge fan of P2W on principle, the DLC has brought a little life back into the game with OW PVP. They just need to be removed from PBs completely. -

This is how shallow water battles pretty much go. Whenever someone says they don't have a requin I just groan knowing that a rattler or niagra in that persons spot hurts the group overall. We've effectively stopped trying to do them as a result. Very sad. -

Back in the days prior to the wipe there was no dealing with Spain. They viewed EVERYTHING in the gulf and up to about Cabo on the east coast as their historical homelands. Which is kinda why they fought almost exclusively over Islamabad and Ays over and over. Graf doesn’t care. The flag means nothing to him. But lifer Spanish like Jorge and Alucard do. Every single port you take drives them and the rest of Spain nuts. Batabano and Key West being in hands other than Spanish is killing the nations morale daily. These ports that they say no one cares about will immediately be ground back up the moment they are dropped or the timers removed.
