WAR of the LOVERS! Spain VS France
Christendom replied to Admiral Horatio Hornblower's topic in Caribbean News
My love story with KoC is far better than the 7up one. You guys will always be 2nd best. I do think about Grafs voice on occasion. If only you guys put up as much of a fight defending Spain’s ports. -
WAR of the LOVERS! Spain VS France

JAGs and Spain could of chosen to not show up to help Russia and been fine. Just like Spain didn’t show up to help Russia when they were losing the secret islands or Bermuda. Just like when Spain didn’t show up at night when the US lost every port on the easy coast. Some curious selective ally stuff going on. I cant help but feel like showing up was a personal choice and that’s fine. I told him not to and what would happen if he did. He chose poorly. -

Speaking of your friends. Can you do something about that 11-14 timer on Williams Bay? I like to sleep in on Saturdays -

They stopped showing up against us. 1 and done. Wonder what it means? Clearly they fear me more than the night time french 🙂 -
[PvP] Spanish clan political situation
Christendom replied to Celtiberofrog's topic in Caribbean News
I keep doing this because JAGs and 7up decided to screen us out of a PB against Russia. He was warned what would happen if he went hostile against us and this is the result. He knows how to end it. No other reason. I would prefer to not grind up ports and fight empty battles. To be honest I'd prefer to own ZERO ports and just go back to PVP'n at night and occasionally assisting the XXXXX clan during their port battles when asked. We went pirate to get away from port battles and nation drama, but when it necessitates we will rise to the occasion. To put it simply, Spain poked us and now they get the stick. Fighting KoC is neither here nor there, but since you mentioned it.....he simply has too large a force with UWS/BLANC at his disposal to contend with and it's not worth our time to attack him. Meanwhile your nationmates continue to get slaughtered outside Habana and Batanbano as well as inside port battles. You chose to not help them. Much shame and cowardice. -

I agree in spirit, though this situation was a bit more complex. I think you mistake friends for in-game acquaintances. Though your friends have a knack for going US and trying to take your ports 🙂 Some don't and will never share this opinion. -

Besalem, Robras and Key West weren't exactly empty. They were missing VLTRA members though. 7up and VIXIT showed up to defend KW against us and ended up donating 1st rates to our cause. VLTRA, you and Jorge were down around the Belize area about an hour before the battle sinking brits on the very same night. Unless of course there are 2 different Alucards and Jorges in the game :-). So maybe 7up doesn't have all the support you claim it does. Or VLTRA just doesn't care anymore. -

When did JAGs kick my ass? I think the only time I've seen him in the same battle was at Key West and....well you know how that turned out. My only beef with JAGs is that he chose to assist a useless ally at a trash port over his friends. In particular a friend who got him unbanned from the game and got him to come back and start playing again. -
[PvP] Spanish clan political situation
Christendom replied to Celtiberofrog's topic in Caribbean News
7up only has a handful of Spanish players, which is probably why they are a better than the rest of Spain. What he did not mention was that 7up is part of the clan confederation RAI and supposed to be a singular RVR and Political group. What 7up, VLTRA or even VIXIT does is supposed to be supported by the rest of RAI. Seems like the Spanish speakers of Spain are trying to hang 7up out on their own as some rogue clan because they are not Spanish. Which is precisely the reason why non-Spanish clans traditionally never moved or lasted long in Spain. Spanish make poor allies, poor nation mates and dislike anyone but their own. -

Nice to see Graf try and put a positive spin on 7up sticking their nose into other nations RVR and expecting them to listen. Last week it was JAGs simply trying to defend an ally...this week you want nigtflips to bring about another global server. Good luck with that. -

Lyanna Stark was better looking than Graf. What burden? Spanish clans are currently paying us to keep KW open. In fact the largest burden on the VCO clan bank currently is certain members, who shall remain nameless, of ours withdrawing cash and placing bets with the Denmark bank guy and losing. We were going to hit Tampa this week to take GA's new clan warehouse but it seems Rax beat us to the punch. -
PVP MARKS and PLAYER RETENTION
Christendom replied to Bluetooth's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
It used to be that way, but Admin in his infinite wisdom decided to listen to some of the more hardcore minded players on the forums and got rid of rewards for losers. The winner get all mindset was idiotic and has since been reworked a bit.....but as you say, it still needs some more love. -
PVP MARKS and PLAYER RETENTION
Christendom replied to Bluetooth's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I'd rather do away with PVP marks entirely and have your reward be the ship and it's contents. Very rarely do we keep ships that we beat, I can probably count on one hand how many 1st rates we've kept and taken back to port since the merge. I feel like if your system encourages sinking 1st rates for imaginary marks rather than keeping the ship......something is wrong. The other day I sunk a Spanish trader full of ship building parts on it's way out of Key West towards Habana. Before the marks system that would be a good score. After I capped it I looked at the contents...said "meh" and then sunk and moved on. I'd rather have marks than shipbuilding stuff. Seems wrong. -
PVP MARKS and PLAYER RETENTION
Christendom replied to Bluetooth's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Personally I feel PVP has gone downhill since the PVP mark system has been introduced. Prior to the marks system my aim in PVP was to have some fun, earn a little cash and more importantly, make out with the prize (cargo/ships). Historically ships fought each other till one surrendered, very rarely did they sink, and a prize of some sort was taken. I feel like the marks system goes against the spirit of historic naval combat and has just turned everything into a gank/destroy fest for imaginary tokens. Prior to the marks system I would let players go in a similar manner as the OP described. I didn't feel the pressure to sink anything/anyone to get marks and show up on the leaderboard. Marks are a lazy crutch that is used to incentivize PVP instead of coding in proper content and mechanics that would do a far better job. -

Must of been the other Jorge then... -
But you did get up at 3am to screen pirates out of a Russian port. It’s odd you won’t to help Spain at that time. Don’t blame you I guess. Some 7up and VIXIT showed up to defend Key West. Not very well, buy they tried.

As I’ve said elsewhere, and my beef with 7up aside, Spain doesn’t deserve the effort they’ve put into making the nation a fighting force. It’s a shame really. Spain / VLTRA are poor allies in and out of their nation. About an hour or so before we did the key west / Vacas battles Jorge and Alucard were sinking brits down by Belize. Neither showed up to help. Just let 7up and VIXIT die on their own. Some bad hombres. See you at Robras! -

I agree that it's up to the players to write the history, hence my support for a clan based game. Nations shouldn't really matter. -

I think he is implying that Prussia, which I don't think had much of a navy, now owns most of N Haiti. Aka Historical accuracy has been thrown out the window. -

Anything more than 1 hull and 1 rig is more than I care to have. Thanks 😕 -
The alt-ception between REDS and Spain is back I fear. But they aren't allies right? Things don't really change I guess. Time to bring back the West vs East alliance again and get myself, Kingy, sruPL and maybe convince LV to come back and do some night flipping.

Rax was 1 and done and then went back to his old US stomping grounds for a pick-me-up. I think 7up and Spain is currently hurting. Saw a couple of them already go back to Russia.

Historic setting.... Russian / D-K / Sweden / Prussia / Poland with a heavy presence in the Caribbean.......unlimited repairs ........ magical mods.......Pirates sailing 1st rates.........Determined defender... Does not compute. We can have a game that is super historically accurate that no one will play or a game with historic elements and game play mechanics that make sense and work. We've tried to have both and it doesn't work. I'd rather have a game that works. Maybe I'm wrong. -

You mean hunting traders while dodging a 8v1 in a battle? Yes. And even historically accurate for this game. Privateering is PVP. I find sitting off KPR in 6 bellonas while waiting or the brits to assemble enough frigates for you to slaughter to be lazy. Perhaps is this game and it's players focused more on the small ship actions and not hyper unrealistic battles with endless repairs it would perhaps be in a better place and far more accommodating.
