Patch 10.4 Conquest changes, Battle Groups, Wapen von Hamburg (III)
Liq replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Looks promising! Like the speedboost change during invis. Will go and test it. Especially like this: Will hopefully reduce the time sailing around not meeting a single player. But Ive got some concerns regarding the battle group thingy; couldnt it be used to make sure only part of a group gets pulled in battle, so the rest is more or less safe? -
Typos and Awkward Phrasing
Liq replied to Powderhorn's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
If thats the most important thing you want to be changed in the game at the moment, you're lucky -
In most cases it's rich alts holding the monopoly on the demanded items, and will then sell it for a lot so only the most "hardcore gold grinders" (isnt that a oxymorgon) have access to it, which means the average player will never even get to see one - except if he's super lucky and gets one from a mission. But that's rare. Also, as the items are being sold in a port of a nation A, regular players from any other nations can't simply go there and put a contract for it, even IF they have the gold, as you cannot place contracts in another nation's port. Here's a compilation of the most important stuff being said. #2 means, if you're in a frigate not doing 15 knots, you will have a hard time to get away from a big enemy force, having the crucial upgrades (e.g. Connies doing 15 knots). And since you, as a regular player, have no access to those upgrades, you will sooner or later just stop to even bother anymore and put the game aside.

It's not the ships that are difficult to aquire but more the Upgrades which allow you to be competetive in the current OW PvP situation, due to the silly 15 knots hardcap. Some crucial upgrades like Copper Plating only drop from PvE missions (with a very low droprate) The two main upgrades (Bovenwind and Crooked hull) require materials which are only available from 1 (Crooked hull) and 2 (Bovenwind Refit) ports. Additionally, there currently is literally not a single reason for anyone to be in the middle of the sea in no nation's waters. That leads to the fact that if you want PvP, you'll have to enter enemy waters. And if you were lucky enough to finally get something into a battle, the probability of ships waiting outside for you due to the existence of two dimenstions, 75x compressed OW and battle instances, is extremely high. So you cannot really blame players for not looking for pvp at the current circumstances. Ships themselves are relatively cheap to craft (ressource prices wise), at least anything up to 5th rates. But if you're not competetive enough, you will get roflstomped by the 15 knot connie / surp spam, which will then lead to players quitting.

I'm pretty sure that bonus is only affecting the mast's thickness / HP. The light frigates topmasts (especially surprise) are still pretty much paper. It takes one good "spray" into the topmast section with a surprise (9s and 6s) to score a topmast, and therefore either forcing the enemy to use a repair or give up some of his manouverability. But in general I dont think upgrades buffing the thickness rather than the HP is the right approach. By buffing thickness, at some point it will be impossible to demast, compared to buffing HP where it will just take a bigger effort.

How long before OW is PVE only
Liq replied to Justme's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
So what do you suggest? Making ow pvp battles open for the whole 90 minute to "promote pvp"? (They should add that for a weekend so people can realize how terrible of an idea that is) As long as the revenge fleet issue is not being dealt with you cannot blame the players for being too much of a coward to go actively seek for pvp. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
How does the taging time have anything to do with the range you spawn in battle? You can just refresh tags as often as you want until you think you're close enough Reducing the tag timer will reduce the time during which you can reset the tag, so its more likely to spawn further away

That feeling you get when you finally upgrade to a 1440p 165hz screen But when you go ingame and realise the tiny UI

Trying to solve revenge fleet problem
Liq replied to elite92's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
At some point you will need to have a much bigger revenge fleet if you want to accomplish it though - 30 sec invis radius is pretty small, so not really hard to anticipate - 45sec - 60sec invis and speed boost will increase the radius by quite a bit, and gives the guys in battle at least a chance I'm all for at least giving it a test -
Trying to solve revenge fleet problem
Liq replied to elite92's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Ganking happens in nearly every MMO, but no other MMO I know has to deal with the revenge fleet phenomena, why that is I think has been explained enough often. And you can have a 15 knot surp or whatever, if the revenge fleeters are any smart, they will position a few good ships at your best point of escape (wind wise) - and a few backup ships in case you want to run into another direction - It really does not take a genius - 30 sec invis timer is basically a joke at the moment - But I've got some hope left, as I've seen admin taking up the suggestion of increased speed during invis. in one of his posts last week -
Trying to solve revenge fleet problem

but needs a bigger 'you cannot attack or enter battle' timer aswell then -
if they weren't just like any other nation sure, but as long as they're just another nation except with the jolly roger, they'll have to behave as such and accept the rules IMO
-
wrong, this is not an outlaw battle; only there when names are RED to each other it's okay to shoot - Since this was not an outlaw battle and teams existed, and players were displayed as GREEN names, it's green on green

you should have received a mail saying you are now lord of port xy, 1st mark you get the following day, aka tomorrow

Dane alt in frig in firstrate pirate battle
Liq replied to Lord Vicious's topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
Can I just say: lol Liquid Dirt is not my alt - all my alts are Danish. Devs can gladly check the IPs. (by the way, I was stuck in the screenimg battle just infront of the port, cant fight two battles at a time - LiquidDirt even messaged me before the PB, as he saw me there, saying people often ask him if he's me and he then often says yes, somewhat "just for the lolz") Would make a somewhat bigger reply but gotta go to work now.- 12 replies

Finding action may not be the main issue, but if the revenge fleeters are any smart, they'll position a few ships at your best point of wind escape direction - doesn't take a genius 30 sec invis timer is a joke
-
you can still cap players tho dont think capping random inteleporting npcs for an unlimited supply back in the day is all they did
-
so have a 10 min 'you cannot attack others or join battles' for 10 min timer when logging back in

Low level player used to tag port battle fleet into battle.
Liq replied to Sir Texas Sir's topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
A thing I've been wondering about for a while in general: It's forbidden to use alts for port battle activities as clearly stated before - But what if you hire a legit player from the nation for gold to do the dirty job? It's a sandbox so legit players can sell themselves, or not? In general it'll be a lot harder to figure out who's an alt and who's not if you start to think from that side
