  1. I was hoping for a NA Arena announcement when I was stumbling through the Forum yesterday.. Welp, you rvr guys have fun lol
  2. At some point it becomes a logical anti griefing measurement. A lone surp can still tag a frig with fleetships. But a privateer cant, since it wouldnt stand much of a chance vs 3-4 frigates.
  3. What's next, can only attack warships of same BR or higher? Dont like the idea. Any ship on the OW should remain a target, and shouldnt be able to hide behind a BR wall
  4. I think in this case it's because you stopped both your sides from reloading, only your front chasers require crew, 10 men. As the rest is not used, it goes to the other tasks, and if those are full, eventually to boarding But I have experienced the "Reload Bug" a few times again since the wipe. Full crew on Gunnery, yet only a part of cannons is being reloaded. Really annoying and not sure what's causing it.
  5. You dont like a challenge in an outnumbered battle? A little disappointing
  6. So sinking a ship in a 5v1 is not a gank; but capping a ship in that 5v1 is? huh
  7. We should go back to 'GettingKickedOutStraightToOW' for a week or so. No invisibility timer, no speed boost. Let people realize how broken it is. Oh it would be a joy to go cherry-picking all those juicy PortBattle Fleets. Oh wait. For that to happen, there would actually need to be PortBattles happening. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  8. "You always want to pick what suits you the most" Not even close to true. I TRIED to fight SEVERAL 1v2, 1v3, 2v3, etc (while being the outnumbered ones) in the last few weeks. Some I lost, some I won. That's how it goes, you can't win everything. But the battles were enjoyable! And ships are cheap. I quite frankly do NOT understand why anyone would not want to commit to a balanced battle. But the vast majority of players seems to do so at the moment. Hence I changed my Steam Review. Can't recommend this game to anyone looking for enjoyable "PvP" on a "PvP" server at the moment. "A safe way out" because of the fact that players outside are waiting, profiting from the 75x OW compression.. Do you really don't get this? It's like the most easiest thing ever to set up a somewhat reliable revenge fleet, without the speed boost. Sure, you guys over there might like 10v1 roflstomps. But some guys actually like a challenge Also, "you only care about your playstyle..." - This is an OW MMO. Ganking is a part of ANY OW MMO. Even I personally don't enjoy engaging battles where the opponent doesn't have a slight chance of winning, why would they be unable to do so? As said before, it's your own fault if you get caught.
  9. Because they attacked something, and when there is no reinforcement withing the 3 minutes join timer, THERE IS NOONE IN RANGE. 3 minute OW time is plenty. It lets you cover quite a distance. Players assembling outside are profiting from the 75x compressed OW to set up. Let me quote you: It's your own fault if you get caught. Except newbs maybe. They need to be given a safe starting point.
  10. So then re-introduce rookie zones rather than messing up the whole RoE again? We've gone through revenge fleets lively and the vast majority of players came to the conclusion that they're NOT supposed to even be a thing. In general I say ganking is part of an OW MMO. Admin said himself a while ago, "everytime you set sail, you should be aware of the fact that you're risking your ship" or something similar. However I agree new players need a safe spot to get going. I liked the idea of Rookie Zones. @admin What happened to the idea of giving new starters a safe starting point? At the moment it seems like the Bahamas got #Swerged and are not used for anything anyway, other than easy Conquest points.
  11. To be honest, I dont give a f*ck what you think what sort of person I am If you dont like ganking, dont play a fking OW MMO... Go play Hello Kitty online or Clicker heroes Oh and it's not like alts were not used for spying before.. You could log out and have an alt spying for you before.. Alt issues are never going to be dealt with becaue they're an easy income for the game.
  12. lol You do understand we have to dimensions, 1) 75x compressed OW and 2) instanced battles, hence the 3 minute join timer, which is more than enough time to let nearby ships (10+ enemy players) join. If they are NOT in that range, they can't join. Why would they? "Speed boost is just way too exploitable" you said yourself. So wheres the problem? I want what's best for the game to have a good PvP experience - Being rejected a 1v2, while being the one, to then find yourself to fight an 1v10, because they profited from the OW speed bosot and were NOT in 3 minute vicinity of the original battle, is NOT a good game experience. Maybe for some guys who prefer 10v1 roflstomps only, but for me it isnt.
  13. Nope It really doesn't take a genius to set up a somewhat reliable revenge fleet. Place your ships at the best point of escape for the guys in battle and maybe one or two a little bit upwind in case he tries to "squeeze through a gap" - It has been tested lively.
  14. Isn't the last part a bit ironic? Without the speed boost, we're going back to where we were before - players in battle are just easy food to players waiting outside because THEY are the ones profiting from a super speed. IMHO Currently its fine. 3 minute join timer is plenty to let anything in range join. As Vernon said, get an escort when you're in a trader... this is a pvp server after all, not pve trading simulator, though sometimes it does feel like it -Maybe reduce max. tagging range to somewhat reduce defensive tagging- If we're ever going back to a mechanic which allows players to leave a battle where they are ALREADY outnumbering, to then meet up with mates which profited from the OW speed boost to set up a super gank, I'll be leaving this game for good. That's just poor gameplay design.
  15. I doubt it.. players had millions worth of both assets and ships before wipe and even then didn't bother to fight in anything even-ish I just hope we can get rid off that when moving to NA Legends.. Personally I didn't play Sea Trials but Ive heard stories of players running even there, where you didn't loose anything..
  16. Your suggestion of making battles open for half an hour or even longer will eventually kill off any pvp, as pvp can only be found in enemy waters - Don't kid yourself by saying you should sail in the middle of no nations waters and expect to find anything. There is no reason to be there for noone. But hey maybe that's just me - I'm waiting for Arena at this point anyway. Average player mindset of only engaging when 2-3x the numbers is really getting on my nerves. "Oh hey a surprise! I'm also in a surprise! I could engage him now and have a nice duel! Oooor cry for help in nation chat and wait til I've got a few frigate's backup!" Gameplay at the moment:
  17. It's done when it's done - Nothing prevents you from having fun now already
  18. For me it's all about having enjoyable battles Thus enjoying the phenomenal Combat aspect of the game and having FUN
  20. Maybe tweak XP for knowledge slots for lineships a little bit, but other than that it's not really that much of a grind IMO... I don't have the mindset of "be as rich as possible" anymore - Before the Wipe I spent a ton of time gathering gold, had up to 850 mil in the end - What for? Nothing lol. I barely ever used any of it. Giant waste of time when looking back. Now I just make as much gold as I need. Usually sitting on about 500k - 1mil. That's more than enough for my privateering playstyle. Ships are cheap to craft now. I've lost three ships in the last few weeks but could replace them pretty easily. Also stopped bothering about getting all the good and rare speed upgrades which used to sell for millions - figured crafting a new ship whenever I lose one comes out cheaper. EDIT: Though I don't like the PvE RNG only upgrade / skillbook drops. For quite a few upgrades you need materials you can only get through grinding PvE. Dislike.
  21. Agree but it should take some time, eg. 10-15 sec sails down in OW and not moving while your crew transfers the stuff, so you can't put valuable cargo on a fast traders lynx fleet while being chased in OW and then in battle send the traders lynx away
  22. Poor swedish )
  23. when you use Brace (H by default in the controls settings), it takes about 10 seconds for your crew to prepare. Once the 10 seconds are over, your crew is much more protected, the probability of them dying through a rake (or also explosions) or just crew damage in general is much lower. While your crew is bracing, you have no control over the rudder, nor can you manual sail or shoot the cannons, as your crew is hiding and not working on the tasks they are supposed to. When the danger is over, you can press the Brace button again, so your crew goes back to work. I believe Brace has a cooldown of 5 minutes, not too sure on that though. I dont really use it too often, mainly because I mostly sail small frigate ships anyway.
  24. I'm guessing that's not the Xebec's crew, but a spectator ship's crew (or maybe just some special dev-server settings?). Same thing when they posted a picture of the Hermione, 850 crew was shown.
