  1. When resources are low folks tend to hoarde. Though remember we are only dealing with an average of 30-90 players online on testbed. It would be a bit diffrent say if it was 300-900 being the daily average. That reminds me I had some buy orders out from a bit ago I should prob go check in. I haven't done anything since the new patches cause I knew what would happen. Tons of buy orders and ever thing is out. Exactly what we did with Fine Woods to get it. I did a circle around grand turk and all I found was traders until I found one 5/6th rate fleet. Being a pirate I expected a lot more ships to pick. I think some areas still have issues with number of fleets. IF we are having issues with 30-90 players think how it would be with 300-900 players, but than I would assume they expect us to do more PvP, but that means we still need to be able to replace our ships cause most the time some one is going to loose a ship. PvE server is always going to have the smallest numbers. I would pick the best Nation for the best resources if I was to play on there but remember you got smuggler flag and ports produce. So you shouldn't be having any shortages there. Though I do think there is way to much shortage on the testbed that only has 30-90 players compared to one of the PvP servers that might average 300-900 players during prime times. They need to seed the market at first and than let the players take over. some folks think 20% is way to low. That is what I do in my home ports, but it seems more the norm for folks to jack it way the hell up in price. A lot of that problem was the gold was so cheap to make on live. I'm hoping folks don't do the same on the new patch when it goes to live. Though you will always have those willing to pay that much or who jack up buy orders to get every thing. @admin I brought this up before, is there any way to pick what buy orders you want to fill? If an enemy comes into my port and puts up a buy order I will want to fill friendlies over his even if he puts up the bigger buy order price. We should be able to pick which contracts we want to fill.
  2. And folks forget PvP gives big amount of points over PvE kills. We accidentally flipped a port or two we didn't want to cause we stopped but the PvP we got from raising the hostility to get them out caused players to show up. After the battles we flipped the port cause we killed every one that showed up. So remember PvP still will be the number one way to raise hostility, but the devs need to balance it in a means that just ignoring it won't stop them from flipping it either. I notice as some posted you can sail around an area and never see something bigger than a shallow water ship or trader other than one 4/5 rate fleet and than others you see tons of ships. I know there was that 4th rate region spawn bug but that should be fixed. We have to remember also this is with 30-90 players right now. What would it be like with 300-900? Than we should prob see a lot more of the PvP going on in these regions.
  3. I was actually thinking about this. Maybe make sure the ships are in line with one of the paths you want to go on if you want to work on those ships. Even better how about this. Devs give us a redeemable of the mats to make those ships along with the mats to get a level 1 shipyard. That way if we want to have one ship or another we can make that one or we can just skip it. Than the folks that have no plan to make ships don't have to make a shipyard and if they want to use only a basic cutter they can. Remember folks you don't have to redeem your redeemables after all. You can play from scratch or you can redeem them and be where you where level and rank and than with a small fleet to start with. I think the Trader Snow is a good start for a trader so not every one is in the biggest ship doing big trade runs from the start. Makes us work up a bit, Though if they go to small with the ships a lot of folks will be pissed being maxed level and in shallow only ships so needs a good mix. The Surprise is for solo player the Indefatigable is for tanky grind prob in a group play and gives us one permitted ship off the bat. I think the point is we aren't suppose to have the biggest and best at first of they would give us an LVG. You can always upgrade by crafting a Trader Brig or if you can find one for sale in shop. The point is to give us a little trader to start with. But you are forgetting and why it shouldn't be all shallow ships. MOST OF US AREN'T NEWBIES AND AREN'T GOING TO WANT TO BE STUCK IN A BASIC CUTTER.
  4. This really all depends on the new Port battle windows if they where moved to support this so you can have port battles set 2 hours before maintenance down time and not be allowed to set them until after the full 2 hours for updates down time. To be honest I don't think Maintenance time needs to be changed it was just that window for the Global server since it locked out US prime time for port battles. Yah just build one of 5 things at a time until you have every thing. This is what I did for months before I joined a clan and even after than I did most of my resources myself. Your not meant to have every thing in a week to build a ship. It takes time to get a good supply stocked up and ready for such. I use to put buy orders up in locations where new plaeyrs might make something close like the simple stuff and let them fill it so I wouldn't have to produce coal and other common resources. It paid them well too and gave them something to make money off of. And how many guys are doing it? Maybe you need more players? If your not getting a good group than how will you fill that port battle? If you don't have enough players to beat a small fleet of 6 ships than you prob don't have enough for a port battle. I'm sorry we flipped the 25 fleets ships to flip ports It only took one to get 50% hostility on a port and this is how ya'll couldn't figure out how we raised hostility so fast. Most the time with just a small group of 4-6 players. Now I do think they need to look at AI a bit. They pretty much have all green mods so they do get kinda of a Buff. I mean they have marines, but I can kill half there crews and they don't seem effective. They turn on a dime a lot of times even when low on crew. They have every boarding mods so there firepower, marines and muskets are higher than me if I'm in same ship with same crew no matter what unless I do a board fit only ship. They don't sink for a good while cause they have extra pumps. It's stuff like this that some times make folks complain about them. This isn't live, the ships are made different and you do have a lot more repairs to work with. Don't go in there balls to the wall. Not to mention Mahogony now is just a step above Cedar/Fir so it's a softer wood. I don't think they should be using double shot/charge. Cuase they prob aren't limited on ammo use like we are. It should stay basic shot. I seen some one post a battle log of a ship using them though, but haven't seen it in battle myself. That is on the old system, you can't do that now, that cedar connie is going to be butter against any other decent guns.
  5. I would say a certain other version of it but hay I'll go with this too. I mean it's only a one dura ship, that the worse we all get sunk lol Oh and remember every one that has the yacht still gets that along with our trusty basic cutter.
  6. I wouldn't go to small cause remember a lot of players are maxed out and aren't going to like the big grind to get back into mid tier game. I think the list admin put up would be good. Privateer - is a good starter shallows ship to move into for the guys that might not redeem there marks and good shallow water hunter of traders. Suprise - For the solo hunters this would be something fast enough to hunt down traders or escape if need be. indefatigable - Remember this takes a permit, but getting one mid tier permit ship isn't bad for a restart. It's big enough to do some decent grind in and can brawl fairly well in a group to support it (cause it turns like a brick). trader snow good starter trader for the shallows and short port to port runs until something bigger made/captured.
  7. From all I seen is it's 4 ships and one might be a trader. Now are they going to give us enough gold to buy the cannons (from the shop) until we can get all the stuff to put up a workshop cause no one will be making any cannons straight off cause it takes stone blocks and oaks to open it.
  8. I don't get why folks just wait and see. Yah I just said that and I"m like the one guy that hates the wait lately. For all me know every one might end up on Global and we have the one server any way. Many folks where locked on one server or the other cause of friends and how much stuff they had there. With the wipe we won't be having anything to tie us down. GLOBAL might BOMB and EU server might be the good one. EU might BOMB (remember the Mirror split?) and be the best one. HELL PvE Might beat every one and become the new main server....nah just joking on that one. For all we know we might get a lot of return players and folks in most nations to give a best balance in most of the time zones for SEA, US, EU....lets just wait and see when the Patch Drops to live and the servers are given a clean slate. Remember didn't they also say they will be given us all a one time change nation token just in case after it starts we want to switch to another nation to balance it out a bit more?
  9. Than this is good news. No not every one can or will do port battles, so they shouldn't get the same rewards as those that can. If you want the mark of conquest than trade some one for them. Remember on the global server we aren't restricted to any certain time for port battles. You don't play during a prime time, get some folks on during your time and flip a port. They don't have to be 25 vs 25 every time. Just don't complain when a few days later it gets flipped back during a prime time for most of the players in that area. Now just remember some one does have to show for you to get the marks so doing off time flips aren't all ways the smartest, but still if you know they can field say 15 vs 15 at that time than get some buddies together and set something up. Some one said there was a Bridgetown Frames found so prob my guess is for the refits for sure. I saw the same logs in a port but wasn't sure what that region bonus us to be at the moment.
  10. Yah they said some ships just didn't get added to the test version and folks are just assuming they will cost us or something. They need to just come out and say it not 20 pages deep in a thread. All blue ships (store bought and player crafted) should be able to capture like int he past. I'm fine with the Grey OW AI ships not being able to capture, but I lost a full LGV that some one boarded, but than I boardred him and killed him. I could take his Bell Poule which I didn't want or sink it, but I couldn't nor could he have took the LGV in my fleet. And since he put no crew on the LGV I couldn't even capture it back and get points for the scuttle of the ship. Not to mention over 500K cargo that we can't remove cause you can't capture the LGV even though it was a player AI trader in my fleet I was protecting. This needs to be fixed. It's partly why I lost interest in Testbed until it's fixed. Don't even really want to test out the new woods if they are going to keep this broken mechanic in game. That and I just felt like I needed a break last week. I'll wait for the next hotfix and or live (cause it's not making May 15th I'm sure). Cause they need to just make all the changes and add it and stop feeding ups bits and pieces. To me I really think they didn't do crap the last 5 months and are trying to play keep up suddenly and that is why they didn't make April 19/20th for the patch. This feeding us little bits as they get it ready just makes me believe that even more.
  11. Ya'll need to set folks straight as to why they aren't in the Testbed. To many folks are just guessing that they will be special like the H Rattler or other ships not listed, but ya'll need to just add them in with the next patch or make a post exactly what ships will be special, marks only or common craft ships. Folks are just guessing since we can't craft them right now. Whigh would be nice since I lost that LVG full of goods I have not been able to find a replacement on the market and I can't capture NPC's or PC AI ships to get another back. So right now we are getting very limited on ships for traders other than Brigs and Snows?

  12. Yah I see both sides of it even though I don't think they should be converted but if they are than it should be something that cost more than now. Now what I'm totally against is anything being able to be converted into Marks of Conquest. While they can remain tradeable but I think nothing should be converted into them. You want them you need to either go to port battles and do RvR or you need to trade with some one that does RvR. @admin Speaking of things you get from the Shop. I still have yet to get an answer why pirates get only a 5th rate (Pirate Frigate) and the other 7 Nations (remember they are all nations) gets a 4th Rate (Aggy) and all the SOL's so they get a total of 8 ships so 7 extra that pirates don't get. I'm sorry if we are a nation than we should get the same options they do. I don't mind you having the Aggy National special and the P. Frigate Pirate special, but the rest of the ships? You just effectively took them out of 1/3 of the RvR of the game. This is fine if you don't want them to be part of Conquest and RvR, but than you need something special for pirates like Pirate only Raids and such. Right now Pirates have a tons of restrictions but no perks (we don't even have the pirate perk any more.) Though until you make pirates special and unique with there own mechanics than they should be treated like very other nation out there.

  13. If they keep them in I think they should be higher conversion instead of 10 to 1. I though 100 to 1 was to much, but 25 to 1 isn't to bad. I'm against them being able to be converted cause I think they would make a great trade market for folks that want them. Clan mates have all ready been giving me their marks when I make a ship for them cause I been doing mainly the crafting stuff on testbed. As long as you can trade them between players there will be a market for them. If you make them convertible than why would I need them from a PvP player when I can just convert my PvE's over to PvP marks?

  14. No if you want PvP rewards you should have to do PvP Contetnt to get them. Or pay for it with something to trade like crafting. I made a clan mate a Trinc the other day cause it's his fav ships and he gave me the permits and BP to make the Pirate frigate in trade since he had the PvP marks I didn't cause I been spending all my time testing the crafting stuff. So no if you want the Rewards for the PvP/RvR player you need to either do that content or trade for it. I don't think we should be able to trade PvE for PvP Marks either as that will take out the trade market between players. Any other MMO you play on you go to the Auction House and you can buy any content pretty much unless it's player locked for the PvE currency if you have enough of it. Even content you buy with real money you can trade. And it turns like a freaking brick so most other 5th rates can stern camp the hell out of it. It's so deadly cause it can carry very big guns on a small package. With it's low profile it can sit below upper deck guns of most SOL's ships and just eat away there armor at close range. Some do it 15 mins a day but most don't notice it cause it's during off times, others do it once a week. One thing you notice is when those go down they have to roll back a day or a week if data is lost. It's only really goes down 30 mins a day on live, but once the game gets more stable it prob will drop down to less time and they might even roll it to once a week. Yah we need the guys that like to mainly PvE cause they are the majority of the player population. If we didn't have them there would be no one to hunt. If you only want PvP 100% of the time than we got a great arena game coming for you in the future. We need the crafters and traders to build the ships to keep the PvP flow going. Without them than there would be no ships to PvP in. I have done very little PvP on testbed, but some of my clan mates have done a lot. We just been trading what we got. I made a few guys ships and they been paying me in marks and what little supplies they have. Isn't that the whole goal of the game? To get players to trade for the resources and such? Exactly, so I think once they take the Trade for PvE to PvP marks out for live I think it will work it self out. I got something you don't have we will trade for things. Isn't that how a clan suppose to work any way? Well every big clan I been in games we done that we work with each other to get to a common goal instead of being a bunch of guys that don't work together other than RvR fights like it sounds like some folks clans work out. And remember in game you can all ways get something, it just might take you a bit longer than some one else to get to it. A solo player might get to build a 1st rate, but it's going to take him longer than a clan would, but he will still be able to achieve that goal one day.

  15. Plan and simple there is a report feature for this game. You see a bunch of guys doing this and showing up in the same crappy ships and not fighting you report them with the evidence. I have alts, but I'm all against folks using them in means that are against the rules and this is exactly against the rules to farm them this way. Oh and last I checked you can't enter any port battles in a basic cutter. I really think you anti-alt guys make more crap up than actually play the game thinking that there is some one doing bad thing around every corner. Folks with alts is prob a very small percentage of the game population. The players without them way out number them so there shouldn't be any big effect by them cause you still going to out number them 10 to 1 or prob more realistic it's like 100 to 1 players that don't have alts.3
  16. How many weeks have it been since the patch that had stuff wiped on testbed? 4-5 weeks now or something. Well in the first 2-3 weeks I was able to craft ships. Yes I have three chars and that helped, but it should be no different for a small clan of 5-10 players, they just have to have some team work. I have since made 3 Surprises, Trinc and P Frigate. I haven't been on much the last week cause of waiting for more of the patches to be put in. So lets say 3-4 weeks I can make 5 ships of the 5th rate class that isn't to bad, but I would be making way more if I was playing very active on live server. Even without the alts you should be able to push out some ships pretty quickly if your smart about yor resources. Pump out a few buildings of one type of resources and than switch to another. The hardest thing was getting enough of the stone for the shipyard and workshop upgrades. Though I have yet to build a ship other than the Surprise and P. Frigate with the new wood really Other than useing Mahog and Oak. So I'm limited on any other wood types right now. I'm not even going to look it up, but I bet Cecil pretty much just hit it on the nose. Your using Carros. What is the pens of those? PRetty much anything over 100 is going to drop big time and you won't be pen even though you hit it. Remember those are sail hits that doesn't mean you hit the mast every time. I haven't had a problem demasting the LVG with 9lbrs or above longs on any thing. Every game I been on you can't get PvP rewards without doing the PvP content. Every MMO has been like this. Most of them even lock it to your char so you can't trade it. The reason be is cause the PvP players take the most risk and do the hardest content to get those items. So why should you get exactly the same thing as I get when your only doing PvE content? The games that do allow folks to trade these items it's a very big profit to sale them on the auction houses to folks that won't take the time to do the content to get them. So you want PvE and RvR content rewards without doing them? Well your going to pay for it.
  17. When I was on this morning a group of pirates was doing nothing but tagging other pirates as soon as they got out of the green zone from the capital and I said group so it wasn't a solo guy. It was a group that would tag one guy and all jump in to sink them. I can see how this is going to get every toxic fast. Not to mention we are so restricted on other things now we have to watch out for guys like this. I know it's test bed and ever test server gets guys like this when there is nothing else to do they just PK over and over and camp new spawn camps and such. Sounds like that is what we are getting. Some bored players that are now camping a capital cause they can just get easy kills instead of going to a nations capitals and actually fight a national instead of camping solo players. We still don't know anything about the hostilities stuff yet. Hell they haven't even finished the ship crafting stuff. It's not like we won't see that for another couple of weeks at this rate.

  18. And you think he would be more worried about the ships that shows nipples of women and men. BOOBIES....... And what exact idols are you talking about? Cause there are none on ships. But your ok with the raping and pillaging going on in the game and your worried about some figureheads. I can think he means the one of a greek god? Oh did I mention there are some boobies on them tooo? POWER OF BOOBIES......lol
  19. Even more fun when your 4 ships sinks almost all the 12 ships and only loose maybe 1 at the most. We have done that more than a few times or sink a few and the majority of them start to run instead. If your in a group of 5-4 rates than turn and sink those fir rattlers or do what I done. DEMAST THE BASTARD and sink it. They aren't hard to demast in Trinc or other 4/5 rates. And if your worried about them stern camping you than work in pairs to have one guy always covering the other. Yah I wonder and now with the limited ship slots and 1 dura ships it's not like we will have a ship in every major port or freetown. Hell I know the second to last slot to open up docks is 26 million. Hell I thought 1 million was insane the first time I open up my 8th Outpost but I did it. Really the salt issue is going to be a problem. Now I know I made a little provisions in the past, but I been pooling all my fish and salt on one char. I had just enough to make 300 provisions after a a few weeks of playing. That is enough to make my P. Frigate once I figure out the trims I want for it. Yah they need some way to get salt if every ship needs provisions. Could they be for British Refit? As isn't that the other port that has that refit?
  20. I all ready finding empty ports with buy orders up for those new goods. It's a race of who gets on early after server reset (on live) and can snag up those goods or out bid each other with contracts. This is exactly what we did with Fine Woods and why we keep calling this 2.0. If folks are all ready locking out a sever with 30-90 players how is it going to be with 300-900 players? If you don't have the cargo space than you shouldn't be keeping it all. Though if they fix the capture of AI traders and player owned AI than this could be fixed by keeping a slot oven for the capture ships, but as far as I know we can't do this. You can't move cargo in open sea like you can in port so you shouldn't have all the time in the world to move all that cargo any way. Tag timer is 15 secs so they will have to start dumping the cargo before they got tagged or have to cause the player to do a double tag. I could be a dick and follow you and make you dump your cargo and than leave you alone. Now your short 1000 wood logs you just dumped cause you where worried I capture your ship. Maybe next time you won't be dumping your cargo? @admin Does the game tell you when some one is dumping cargo. Would be nice if we got the message and once a player clicks is it can they stop it? I think it should be a set deal. You click it you loose it flat out. This makes folks not want to dump cargo as much. If your Traders are in fleet we can't capture them and return them to fleet so unless we have the cargo space than it's pretty much a wasted time as your going to send your ships to escape. At most I might be able to capture one and have you out of those goods. Though all I get is the sink and a crappy t-shirt saying I was there cause I can't take the ship or cargo. Unless they fixed the no capture of AI ships. Like I said in other post if it's a Player owned ship (ai fleet or player in it) than we should be able to capture it.

  21. Well the good thing there will be none on live since every thing is wiped so so you wouldn't have a bunch to be useless. Yah a barrel is pretty big, not getting this. @admin Ok so it takes 300 provisions to make the Pirate Frigate. I have every thing but that. So I go to see where you get salt? SO WHERE DO YOU GET SALT. I have only collected 48 salts on the open sea between three chars since I been pooling all my salt and fish meat on one char. Uh how exactly are we to make these provisions again if we have no salt to make the food supplies?

  22. You still have to sail and have them in the ports that have the resources. If one port only has Fir, Oak, Mahog, than another Copper and Coal, but a third has Iron and Hemp you have to put the respective buildings in those ports. Than bring the goods to where your shipyard and workshop is. So no you can't have all your production in one port. As long as I remember since EA started we only had 8 out post never been more than that and you where only able to have 5 buildings. Lets not forget we can't leave our fleet ships in our fleet in that port. You have to take them out even though your not in those ships and put it in the docs. So your fleet ships all ways takes up how many dock spaces you have. They should go back to the click the box thing if your going to use those ships in those ports or not. Though i agree on the problems with the flag system, that is why it's best used for raids and creating agro not actually conquest of a region.
  23. Just F11 on my char "Big Texas" a bug we found. If you are looking at a ship and are in a ship, it counts the cargo as for that ship your looking at either in the shop or in your dock speed according to the cargo you have in the ship your currently sitting in. So if I have a ship with cargo and I"m looking at a Frigate in the shop it told me the speed is 11.80. But when I was in an empty ship it says 12.30 for it's base speed.
  24. Something like this Lumber Camp - Produce any wood of that port that it produces at the camp depending on labor hours. Mining Camp - Produce any metal ore at that port that it produces depending on your labor hours. Farm - Produces any Cotton, Hemp, Sugar, Tobacco (do we still need that?) at a port that produces that them. Shipyard - We all can figure what these do, but would love to limit them to ships of only that port (shallow water ports only produce shallow ships so can only have a level 1. Deep water can produce any Frigates and below. The line ship ports (all capitals should be this) can produce every thing. Workshop - Make it for every thing that isn't a raw material you need a workshop in that port to convert it. You have 5 slots so you can actually produce more in more ports if you want by having only one building for more than one resource, but remember each resource is limited to your Labor Hours on how much it can be produced. Have the buildings take mats to build and upgrade like the workshop and shipyard (though maybe a bit less as that is a lot of mats they took). Shipyards and work shops can be put in any port you have an out post in (including freetowns).
  25. I mean if they gave us all the crafting stuff finsihed at once than we might understand it better, but right now what I'm seeing and hearing is it really is looking like the game is slowly turning into Fine Woods 2.0. Don't get me wrong I love the wood trim concept and it's going to make making ships interesting and slightly different than one another. As my example on the other thread my Mohog Oak Plan, king ship is faster and turns better than my Mahog Speed I built last week. Though it has less armor and HP. My only issue is the means to get these resources. If they did an awsome job of spreading all these resources out so that players can have multi combos, but maybe not all the wood types than that would work out great and if they don't have to fight over folks that are on 24/7 with endless money snagging up all the resources than I won't have a problem with it. But shouldn't I be able to produce it myself? So i can make some of that profit too if I want to on the side? Here is a concept one building call Lumber Mill. You can use it to produce wood that that port produces no matter if it's teak, oak, fir, etc as long as that port produces it. Than you pick according to your labor hours what you want to produce that time out of that port. So if I want to produce a bunch of Teak logs one day and than I can make a bunch of fir logs the next day. As long as that port produces that wood.
