Yah they where all combat ships. I thought it was odd, but than RNG hates me some times. I got to thining two of the ships that didn't give me anything where rattlesnakes and I think the third was a Bell Poule or Frigate.

IT was in prep of the big wipe and there was a few changes I found. Nothing big and a few issues i F11 cause they where still showing.

After the wipe, how should I begin?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Barbancourt's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Try running 5 level 3 Silver mines and than transferring it over to notes for mods and frigates. I would send the silver to atwood and than change it to ingets and than run it up to Kidds. Though with the lack of need for copper I don't have to do the same with the other char cause we used a lot of speed trim and copper plated ships in our PvP in OW. With that it won't be as important, but coal and iron will be needed. I was burning through it like crazy making cannons for folks and still using it for ship building mats on testbed so yah it's going to be be needed. Most folks will have a shipyard and workshop if they are a crafter so they will only have three buildings and will prob save those for things that are more needed. Another thing some one can prob make money off early one is stone blocks. Though they adjusted those pretty big so it's not like when we first had to build the workshop and Shipyards, but the level 2 and three take a lot of them. -

After the wipe, how should I begin?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Barbancourt's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Good points, even if you don't plan to craft you can pick something basic that folks might need. I never produce coal. I all ways get some new player to make some and buy it off them. Or just buy it off the store. Though I put up contracts in the port I"m producing at and let new guys know I have contract for Coal there at almost twice the going port price you bring it to this port. They will b e happy to do it and they make easy money. I plan and I know others will do this when patch goes live. Folks will need Coal and Iron for cannons, so that might be something to think about. You wont see this on testbed, but you will for sure see it one live. The first few weeks or even month a lot of folks will need just common mats. Later you can figure out something you might want to craft and set up for that exactly. Like another thing is set you self up for doing repair kits and sail repair. -
Even though I been running three Pirates on Testbed and it might be what I do when patch goes live, but I play on live with 2 Pirates (one shallow and one deep water) and a Dane cause we had had a long running standing alliance with them and wanted to play in some of there US prime time Port battles with the small nations (most Danes on PvP2 are SEA players). This way my Dane wasn't in conflict cause we Pirates and the small alliance fought against the Mega US/GB/DUTCH alliance. All three of my chars are crafting level 50 so your saying I don't play my chars equally? Both pirates are Curse and my Dane is now Flag Captian. That is three chars almost maxed out. Than again I have over 4K hours in game on my main so I play a lot. If any one pays 40 bucks to just destroy a nation eco than that must be a pretty crappy nation to let one guy destroy it and number two one guy isn't going to make a dent in an econ of a large nation or even small one, it's just one guy. What is the difference than me playing three chars or a 3 guys playing one char. Either way it's still three chars. Even the three friends can pick different nations and work together in trading to get the goods they want. I think some of you guys are a bit delusional to think an alt can destroy econ of a nation. There is prob 1 alt for every 100 or more players out there. So the number of solo players way out number the number of guys with alts. So if those players are active than the guy with the alt would never put a dent into anything that the other 99 players aren't all ready effecting. Again as along as the player using alts aren't breaking any rules than there is nothing wrong with how they play the games and the copy they bought. Now if they are breaking any rules throw the book at them.

Each region doesn't have every thing. Well it has maybe every thing to make the basic ship and basic wood. Though many things you will still need other regions for like gold, silver, refits (if they return). Some of the woods you can only get in certain areas of the map so you have to have regions owned or trade in those regions.

The Port Battle Blockade Idea
Sir Texas Sir replied to Norfolk nChance's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I know contracts have only 15 day life span, but one thing I think if a port excanges hands the contract should be lost. This will keep folks for making to big of a contract or trying to over price every one to either keep the resources from them or get every last one before the port is lost. And I mean the contract and all goods gather are just that lost. This will mean you have to get in that port and get your goods befroe the battle and maybe get them out. I also think all buildings should be wipped when a port exchanges hand along with what was in them. The only thing safe is your warehouse. This would mean hitting very economy important regions/ports can hurt a nation bad, but that means folks will be more willing to fight and protect it. If you don't want the risk than keep all your production back at home capital region. -
I said it before right now we are clearing out and maxing these limits with 30-90 -players. What going to happen if it's 300-900 players instead? They also need to seed the shops at first until the player economy gets kicked off. I can't do any gridnign to make money cause I can't leave from a friendly port range cause I have ZERO repair kits. I have to pull into port after every battle. There are only a few ships I been fidnign around the Crooks area and Turk (about to head back over there). If I can't find but one ore two fleets of 5th/6th rates in two 4th rate regions than how would a bunch of players and how the hell would we flip these ports than? I mean I could take some fleet missions but thought we weren't suppose to use missions to get agro any more? Out of 7 ships I have sunk and only not checking one cargo I got 17 sail repair. That is the only repairs i gotten so far. I did get a pump mod from one ship too. I haven't hit any traders yet cause I'm trying to test the XP grind on the first slot of this Aggy just for the fun of it since I been in all pretty much 5th rates for the last few weeks.

I'm suprsie we haven't seen any post since this patch update. They being to silent. When we don't hear from them they tend to be busy doing something lol
-
Yah so far I a haven't found any in any of the shops. TONS OF AI TRADERS, but we can't capture them and use them. If they aren't doing the trade manifest for those ships (the LVG and Indiaman) than they should just make them like the war ships and pve marks to get the BP/Permit. Along with thre skill knowledge nees to not be auto ulocked.

That is why they need to split the crafting perks from the combat perks. That way if you take this perk than it only effects trade ships not combat ships. I'm sure it's not hard to set flags as to what ships the perk effects. What they should do is have 10 perks for combat tier do tyour Rank (I don't like you can get all 10 perks by mid level. It shoud go back to one point per level to encourage leveling up). Than have the crafting perks tied to your Crafting level. You get one perk for every 5 levels you make until your level 50. Since they are both two different ranking systems they shouldn't be tied together. With the removal of exceptional ships and mods you really don't need to go past level 35 in crafting other than if you wish to build anything with a level three shipyard. This will give some meaning back to crafting. That way some one that doesn't want to be big into combat can stay low rank but max out there crafting. While some one that doesn't want to do any crafting doesn't have to rank up any crafting level and can only work on there Rank instead in combat.

Port Battle Fleet Composition
Sir Texas Sir replied to Captiva's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Yah the only way to do it I would say is set the BR limit for the port battle of what ship can come in and below. It wouldn't be a slot limit as if you have a 2nd rate port than only 2nd rates and below can be at that port battle. If you have a 7th rate port battle ......I better get a gunboat BP lol -
Port Battle Fleet Composition
Sir Texas Sir replied to Captiva's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
only way to do this is with a loby, you will get your loby game with the arena game. -
I actually like this, but the problem is most trade ships other than the two big ones don't have guns. THough the point is now that cargo effects speed it needs to be tweaked a bit. I Still think we need to split the combat and crafting skills. have combat skills tied to your Rank and Crafting tied to your Crafting level.

If you keep the ship exclusive to pirates other than if you capture one, but the problem comes is it's easier to get for a National than it is for a pirate to get any of the SOL's/Aggies cause it doesn't take conquest marks to get the BP/Permits. Remember I'm pirate and I would be all for this if they made it exclusive to pirates only, and would be all for it if they locked the Aggy and SOL's to Nationals only, but right now why limit every one ship to just a few? Than you will have the exact same problem you have with 1st rates and 4th rates. Every one will still bring the Meta ship either a tanked out Indefatigable or a Pirate Frigate built out for stern camping or boarding. Is that Agememnon on the testbed or the live? Is it loaded with repairs? What is it's build? Remember Testbed speed isn't the same as live cause of the change factors like your guns and what you carry on your ship like repairs. Depending the location of that raid you can't wait on a ship that falls behind. So a tanked out ship of any class might not be the best bet. Unless your smart and have all your heavy fleet heading to the raid location before the flag is pulled and than only keep an escort fleet with the flag of fast ships. Though if it's limted to a 12 man group and only that group is involved in the raid than your going to see a lot more ships specialized for the raids not made to port battle standards.

I get the devs are trying to stop abuse of alts and such, but we can't make the game about that. If there is no incentive to show up and fight than you will have a bunch of empty port battles any way.

I was just looking at this screen shot and was thinking if this was on the new system out of 25 guys only 12 of us would get the Marks of Conquest and PvP Marks. That was only cause a few guys stuck around to have a little fun. If those guys didn't than all 25 of us would of gotten nothing. I'm going have to say both sides need to get something for showing up. Again I mention 1 Conquest point if they do any fighting on both sides would work. Than the victory rewards should be to every one on the wining team. Cause in the past every one got a ship/paint crate, but no unless we still get those this would mean half the team got nothing even though they showed u to defend a port.

Yah Admin said that the current exchange was what they where going to have on testbed. @admin Testbed still has the Notes for ships listed, the Low, Med and High notes in ship crafting. They should be removed if not used any more.

I think I only have the Wappen on PvP1 any more, but you guys have fun. I think I might try to set up some fire ship battles tonight on PvP2

Nerf the GPS
Sir Texas Sir replied to BallsOfSteel's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
See prime example my navigation skills blow at times...I did just wake up after all...lol Yah some folks isn't the other 90% of the players though. As was said above that no matter what we do the more elite players are all ways going to have means to get a head of the average player, but we should make this game for the other 90% not the top 10% of the game. Oh and I never used F11 cause I could figure out how to use them and I wasn't going to use a tons of external products. Hell I used burningsails and that was enough for me, took me forever to figure it out, but once again it's an external product that didn't come with the game and this is not a simulator but a game. I don't think the revenge fleets are going to be like folks think unless your in deep enemy waters most folks won't have ships all over the place and be able to just pop out and be right there for the fight. Again it's not pinpoint GPS, you still have to look at the map and figure out your coordinates. Now if it gave you a dot where you where that is pinpoint coordinates GPS and I would agree we don't need that. -

We have a clan remember right now that calls me 2nd Lt. A while back we where going to set up for a port battle the Swedes where going to give us since they couldn't keep it from the Brits taking it back. So we go to head that way. I miss the port and got us kinda lost cause all the stupid rain and I couldn't see the land and I wasn't in waters I was very familiar with and than the kicker was.....I HAD THE WRONG DAY....the port battle as the next day. Hay it was freaking 3 am in the morning for me and I was tired. We are both former military guys so now he calls me 2nd Lt cause of my bad Navigation skills. And for any of you none military guys who don't know the 2nd Lt joke is you never give your 2nd Lt the compass and map, he will get you lost every time.-

Testbed - Demasting & Accuracy cap
Sir Texas Sir replied to Liq's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
a duel, which is a controlled environment that most folks play by set rules. Though how often do they do this in OW fights? I know we do at times in Live as a means to stop/slow down the other guys and most of them have no clue how to demast for the life of them, but we do so we use it. That is called experience. -
Not to mention the Connie is a permit that takes PvP marks and the Aggy takes Conquest. You guys act like every one is going to have 25 of these instantly. They won't so we will see a more mix of ships for a good while. Now what we talked about in clan last night in TS was that the biggest clan/nations will prob have these ships the fastest, but I'm still going to bet it will be a good long time before you see 25 Aggy's in a port battle. It's going to be a big mix of ships. Even longer before we see 25 1st rats. Also you guys are talking about the current ship builds, with the new woods and such it's not always good to make the most tanked out ship as you take speed, acceleration and turn penalties. Which means your totally tanked out ship can now be pretty much a sitting duck in the water if some one brings a more agil ship that can stay on your stern all the time. Which means you prob won't be doing line battles in every freaking fight. You might actually have it turn into some big brawls. Specially with the new PB mechanics that is encouraging fighting more than circle capping. You mean like when ya'll came to Savanna to take it back from us after we capture it? Pirates had 23 ships at the start and we brought all SOL's for the fight cause it's a first rate port battle. Ya'll showed up with 19 mainly 2nd rates. Saw our numbers and than left the battle just as it started. The only reason we got some fun out if it was a few guys from DD stayed and the screeners popped in to make the number match up. So we had our two alts out side pop in too since no reason to stay out side. The only reason I got any points was cause a few us went to brawl it out with the few of them that stayed to have some fun. You should remember this very well you where one of the ones that left without a fight. Should I remind you we took two ports out number 16 vs 21 and than 19 vs 25 so you had a chance to still win, if ya'll would got your act to gether and got organized. I can see this happening ever freaking time some one is out number. Just leave and they will denie the points for the winning team. I think every one should get 1 conquest point for showing up. Though make that rule they have to do some damage to get this 1 point. Than I think all the winners get the 1, 3, 5 no matter if they do damage or not. I get that the Devs are trying to keep folks from exploiting the system, but it's not fair on folks that show up and do work, but do no damage in a fight. We seen this on PvP2 where they pick the cowards way to run than fight, even though they had the alliance of the three largest nations. They would show up in crap ships and run if the numbers where in there odds every time. The actually policy of those nations once we got our numbers up was to just not show up and the pirates will get bored. They didn't mind it when they had 35+ out side ever port battles and we could hardly bring 15 guys to fight against the 25 that made it in.

Nerf the GPS
Sir Texas Sir replied to BallsOfSteel's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
You can use landmarks on the map? WHAT ARE WE FREAKING VIKINGS? By this time they had pretty good maps and charts they can plot there courses. I'm sorry it's not pinpoint GPS, we don't have a dot on the map, you have to push M and than figure out where you are on the map still. For some that is still pretty hard. Hell I screw it up a few times once in a blue moon myself, but I been playing the game long enough I know that I can set sail NE from Atwood for about 30 mins and than I need to adjust my self normally just a tick nww about 30 mins into sail and I"ll be at Kidds, but I made that trip a billion times I don't even have to look at the cordinates, but for some one that has never made it or only a few times they would prob miss the island ever freaking time (I know a good number of players that do). Again why do I have to use external tools for a game I paid for? If you watch the movie Master and Commander what do they do to get a head of the other ship? They pulled out charts and said cause of the drafts of the ships which the charts showed the shallow waters they where able to plot there course and get a head of the ship and they did. They didn't hug the coast the whole dang movie, they used freaking charts and plotted courses. Which in a since what we have in game, but a bit more detailed. You want to know why? Cause this is a game not a simulator. You don't want them than don't look at the map? How hard is that for you guys. But the funny thing is like I said before we rarely say on teamspeak, "I got a 1st rate at 69.82, 31.54" No what we say is, "Get the hell out of here I got a solo first rate out side of Kidds Harbor, head out the South port and head east around the Island and the battle will be right there. I'll hold him off until you guys get here." Which most the time was useless with the return to friendly command. Or maybe we will sit on where he entered the battle until he popped out, but you rarely ever said exact cords over TS. In fact the only times we have used exact cords was to set folks up to log out around the same spot to be ready for a port battle. Than we log in as a group and move it join the battle. Since this have been removed so you have to log in 30 mins early we would prob make these meeting points further out in the middle of the ocean.-
