Patch 13: Variability in port battles, epic events, swivel guns
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
I noticed a lot of 3400 BR ones and that is 136 BR split 25 ways. Uh I'm wondering how this works? Do ships just enter until the BR is reached an than it's locked? That a lot of math to make sure your fleet can fit in to the BR. Also some shallow water ports have high numbers, you can reach the Attacker area to join in deep water ships, but the defense is in shallow. So would this mean the attacker can get DEEP WATER SHIPS and the DEFENDER SHALLOW WATER? With BR changes does this mean Niagara now can get in port battles? Just way to much not known. I can see some one taking in 5 Vict's into a shallow and just decimating the little ships lol -
Can't do that, than what will people complain about next?

Eliminate Nations

That funny cause port timers was removed during the Alliance patch and new port battles. That was over a year ago around August. So how exactly did you test this a few months ago on the current port battle system? Timers was only tried on the old flag system not current so that means you only speaking from stuff in game over a year ago that didn't work and I think most of us agree at that time it was a bad system for the game mechanics. The game mechanics aren't the same now, but we need something that brings more player to the game over all not just to one small portion of the players that think the game revolves around them. -

Have you tried? Nope you refuse to try something new. This is testing phase of a game. It's not the final release. So with that you should try new things. If it doesn't work wipe the map and go back to something that works. The fact ya'll refuse to try means you don't want to encourage more players to come and play. I ask you why do you think 50% of the buyers of the game aren't playing the game? Why do you think they stop playing? -
Little river would worked and it still sits in protection zones I think. Can't telport if your not of that nation. Some nations don't have the power to take a port but would like to hunt. It's funny US is the best location for any Carebear players and they cry when you take a port from them. They don't have any freetowns close to there area so any one that hunts has to sail half way across the map or take port close to them.

Eliminate Nations

Why do you need to attack the US clan? Go fight other EU clans....oh wait cause ya'll all joined the same alliance and couldn't fight each other last time? Well there is no alliance system so you can attack any one in any nation in your time zone slot so EU clans can fight EU and US clans can fight US clans. Evne the SEA guys can attack each other. The problem it seems is ya'll can't other clans doing there own things in there own time zones. Or big clans that can handle mulit time zones beating you in your prime zone and than setting the port in there own. If you couldn't beat them in your own prime time than you prob not going to beat them in there prime time. The issue is ya'll need to stop chasing other clans of other areas of the world out of your nation and let clans fight each other. This game is no longer Nation vs Nation it's about the clans. If you can't beat them in there time zone than get a friendly clan that can attack that port and then they can reset it back to EU time. You know do some actually diplomacy and get other RL national players of other time zones into your friends list. As for why there is more players on EU is cause the majority of the players don't give a crap about RvR and they just want to play on a populated server so they join EU and let the RvR guys do there own thing. That was the whole reason I started on EU originally cause I had no interest in RvR and just wanted to play in the OW with a good big pop. It wasn't until I got level enough to start RvR and no chance to get into port battles I moved over to the PvP2 server and got very involved into RvR. -

Navy dockyard - A small clan warehouse
Sir Texas Sir replied to z4ys's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Dev mention we prob will never see a dry dock thing for clans, but I wouldn't mind seeing some smaller warehouses we can drop for front line areas and hold things like cannons and repairs. Maybe 10 slots but can't be upgraded. If you loose the port you loose the warehouse so it's a risk to keep anything important in it. -
Politics and PBs (Patch 11/12 - "Clan Wars")
Sir Texas Sir replied to Teutonic's topic in Caribbean News
Better than what i heard last night, "Texas is running this one." My response back. "I'm multi boxing port battles right now I AM NOT RUNNING THIS ONE." I did drop a few things to get things started in chat coms, but i pretty much let them run the show. Rincon 4th Rate Port Battle: 18 Pirates vs 16 US - Pirates defended the port. I was kinda half distracted cause of above and I kinda wanted to take a break any way from leading so I let the HYRDA guys take charge of this one since it was there port. All three circles where cap by time US joined the fight and we took the brawl to between circles. One fast Pirate Frigate was lost on pirate and 3 US ships was lost. We chased them after and they had fast open world ships not heavy port battle so I'm surprised they didn't loose more ships. US lost 3 ships Pirates lost 1 ship. This is the screen of the start I didn't get the after battle screen. -
Using hostility missions to get gold, not hostility
Sir Texas Sir replied to zaba's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
The new thing is to go into these missions with a mortar brig and one AI ship. You go up wind from them while they sink your AI ship (some cheap store bought ship). They all are stuck in the wind trying to get to you as you kill them with a Mortar Brig. I have no clue what they make, but with the BR diffrence I'm going to bet it's a killing compare to doing them with like ships such as a 1st rate or two. -
Solution for Empty Portbattles?
Sir Texas Sir replied to sveno's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
If there was port timers than your clan would set it to your clans prime time so how would they be flipping your ports when your asleep? If it's not your clans ports than you shouldn't have to worry about it. Let some other person worry about there ports if they can't defend it in other what ever time it's set in than that is there problem not yours. Paint Chest is a great reward. Make certain ships that might be great for OW but not used in Port Battle the rewards. Niagara and a few other ships could be put into that place. Hell even the Prince is more an OW ship than port battle ships. There could be flags, sails and paints though that you can only get through PvP/RvR (make them the same thing point wise) that you can only get with marks from them. There is no reward for showing up against a force you prob won't win against other than the reword of keeping your port. We see this all the time on Global when we do port battles. Certain nations loose a few and than refuse to show up and fight. Though right now it's not the RvR Nation that has the Victory marks for conquest, it's the biggest carebear nation that is grabbing up empty AI owned ports not player owned. Why should they be rewarded on PvP/RvR against AI? Though I think the conquest reward should be for difrent place. Give every one one victory mark that went to a port battle, this for both sides win or loose. Give the winners something like the Paint Chest. Give the top three nations a victory mark, but the number one nation gets an extra one for winning the week. This rewards folks that show up for port battles and it rewards the top three nations. Though port battles against AI gives no rewards not even the paint chest. Though I honestly would just be happy with the pain chest reward for my hard work in port battle or weekly victory of conquest. Though anouther way to do it is bring back PvP marks and put the rewards in the shops for the RvR/PvP guys. That way you can only get the marks from fighting other players. The problem is when they stop fighting. Pirates on GLOBAL has been fighting this fight against the two largest nations and winning. They stop fighting back when they loose a port or two. Than what? Paints would be a great item to introduce that way. The PvE'er's would buy them off the RvR/PvPers if they really really want them bad enough or they can show up to port battles and get them. I would also give them a chance in the ship wreck events again and other ways to earn them like buying a chest in the shop for PvP points. The only ships I would put for PvP/RvR only are ships like the Niagara that don't have a place in port batttles, but can be used in OW. Yah fighting AI's should not count or taking ports that are empty. Maybe have contested player owned ports cost more points then an AI owned port? Right now GB has the most ports by almost 20 more than any one else and it's just cause they are grabbing ports from AI, they haven't many of them from contested ports, but they get the Victory marks cause of a bunch of guys running around in Mortar Brigs flipping the ports. We don't want to grab all those dots cause they are worthless to us for one victory point I can get from doing a little PvP in the OW. He means when a nation captures a AI owned Neutral port it should not give them a point for the port battle win. That point should only be for contested port battles against another nation. One nation zerging all the empty AI Neutral ports is not RvR Conquest it's PvE. The only way another nation can beat them is to attack all those ports and the majority of the port battles will be empty. I know my clan doesn't want another 20-40 ports we don't want anything to do with. The other thing is you loose points when a port goes back to neutral. I think if you abandon it it shouldn't. Now if you forgot to pay than yes it should. Though right now with the money you can easly make it's not hard to pay for the ports. Specially with these guys going in with a mortar brig sitting up win from the 1st rates and killing them. The BR difference is making it so they are making a killing. They make more than if you solo the 1st rates missions with a 1st rate. While I love the mortar brig but it shouldn't be used this way. Maybe make it so that a mission can't gain hostility points unless you bring in a certain BR first. Simply limit that BR to that type of mission. 1st rates 600+, 4th rates you need 250+, shallow 75+. So that way it has to be at least one ship of the proper BR. Though the best way to fix the Mortar brig thing is to do an announcement when Agro starts on a port and than they can't do it all sneaky like. I jumped into two missions this week with a simple basic cutter and killed guys doing this. Most of them don't even put side cannons on there mortar brigs, it's just finding them when they pull missions that is a pain. As for empty or low number port battles. I know one way they can help fix this. Turn Pirates nation into a Privateer faction. Allow the clans to work as Mercs/Privateers for other nations and that allows them to fill port battles of said clans/nations. IF some one doesn't want to be invovled in the RvR than they they can just be Pirates/Oulaws and enjoy there OW pvp. Give all pirates perm ports (freetowns/PIrate Havens) they can fight out of. With these new nations and not a single thing done with pirates mechanics it's time they get some love. -
Politics and PBs (Patch 11/12 - "Clan Wars")

Bimini Shallow Water Port Battle: 14 Pirates vs 14 US - Pirates where able to Defend the port. The fight started with the US side having 4 ships more than the pirates. It became a brawl in "A" circle with some fighiting between it and the North Cirlce. US lost 7 ships Pirates lost 3 ships -
Instant is good cause it allow folks to get ships to s location fast. What we have been doing is send some one a head with an escort and trader full of repairs. If some one needs to get a ship ready for port battle they just tow it to closes port of staging for the battle. Than load up with the repairs. IF they don't have a port they just take a basic cutter and than destroy it when they get to the port and set out post and than tow ship. IT honestly cuts down time a lot for folks to get ships moved around. Now the quesiton is are folks blowing it on easy tows to move stuff before finding out what is going on or they waiting to use it after they know if they need to be some where to defend? I save my tows for right about when I log off the game for the night or before server down time.

Open world: technical problems, glitches, bugs and workarounds
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Support
Not sure about the rest of that but when you get boarded your crew auto goes back into Survival and will put out fires and pump water out. I've raged boared both players and AI to put fires out on there ships waiting until it was out before I either disengaged or killed them. Also fire shock depends if your on fire and the location of the fire. Fires might not spread fast even with it turned off cause of location of fire and wood type of the ship. I been noticing a lot of folks are doing the cheese way to get out of fights or loose a ship by constantly turning off survival and hoping to sink or blow up. It shouldn't be the easy way out of a fight or loosing a ship. -
More Secret Islands?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Teutonic's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
The game is highly missing a lot of content that needs to be there to give folks interst in the game and to get folks to do stuff other than sit in port. I been to every port on the map and I really see no reason to do it again. Now if there was a fog of war to relearn things and special rewards for doing things and missions I would do it over again. Right now I have no reason to do it again though. I'm more Pissed Portugal didn't make it in game and they actually had ships on this side of the map unlike 2 of those nations that never even owned a port. Prussia had one for 4 years, but it was in the 1600's not in our time period. If your going to add new nations i want to have Barbary Corsairs added to the game too, I mean we are getting that French Xebec some time soon right? -
Admiralty NPC Fleets
Sir Texas Sir replied to Kawazz's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Basically moving Epic events fleets like how they had a few of them. With this what I think the epic events/treasure fleets should be is a big fleet with some Indiamans or LGV's with chest on them. You can either capture the ships or take the chest off them but you have to do it while fighting the large escort fleets. The chest could be something like the deadmans chest with loot in it. No one does epic events any more cause the loop is crap. Give folks a reason to do them and make them fun. Hell bring back Paint Chest until you have what ever new paint system changes. -
More Secret Islands?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Teutonic's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I wish they had it for exploring the map. Give every one basic map with just Nation Capitals and some important trade (freetowns) but every thing else you need to explore and actually go to before you can see it. If they ever made Pirates more like a Privateer Faction that is the only way to do RvR is by hiring out to a Nation than you can give the Faction Pirate Haven ports. These ports are like Free towns but used by mainly pirates and those that find them. They don't show up on the map unless you have been to them or your a Pirate/Privateer. They can't be captured either (since Pirates/outlawas aren't involved in RvR). -
You never could do tow in port with repairs, the only time we where able to do that was teleport to capital allowed you to do it with repairs. You shouldn't be sending a ship with tons of repairs (you could supply a whole team by doing this). You want repairs send some with a trader the traditional way and stock up.
-
Maybe these new nations where good as i been noticing a lot of that on our server too. A lot of open world PvPers are teaming up multi nation groups and out hunting on both sides of things.
-
It would allow big pirate clans to help small nations/clans fill port battles and get RvR too. While they are on contract they can use the ports of that nation, but they can't do buildings and crafting just set up Out Post. Since the faction is removed from RvR and having captured ports you give them perm ports like Free Towns spread out all over the place they can craft out of called Free/Town Pirate havens. Places like Kidds, Mort and other traditonal Pirate Haven ports would be made these ports and spread all over the map and any one can use them as outpost, but only pirates can put up shipyards and production buildings.
-
Allowing pirate clans to act as Privateers for nations would work out though. What exactly is a Pirate again? A Privateer without a job. Take them out of the normal RvR in game and have them be allowed to higher out there clans to other nations kinda like how Mercs are handled in MWO. If you don't want to be involved with RvR than you just don't get any Letters of Marques with a nation and be a Pirate/Outlaw. And yes the Clan could work with one nation one week and than the next week be working for another. Hell if they can get it so they can be hired by more than one clan they could actually even work for more than one nation at a time. Just imagine a big clan showing up and fighting on both sides of the fight. While not fighting each other they could join say a GB vs US fight and half join each side killing the GB or US on the other side until nothing stands but the merc company....lol Though I agree a reputation system does need to be put in the game, but this type of reputation would be more by actions of the Clan not something in game. If a clan did something as above it would prob get it where most other clans wouldn't trust them and hire them.

Politics and PBs (Patch 11/12 - "Clan Wars")
Sir Texas Sir replied to Teutonic's topic in Caribbean News
George Town SOL port battle: 19 GB vs 25 Pirates - Pirates won the Attack. Pirates came in and capped the North West circle and had there mortar brig take out the Fort. Once it went down the two forces meet between the circles and continue to brawl in the middle of all three circles. Brits did great focus fire when they first clashed causing one of the pirates to go down almost instantly (not even sure what his ship was and he keep not listening to orders to fall back). There was a few boardings on both side with Capture mainly on the Pirates side. A few ships on the GB side also blew up and did some pretty good amount of damage to Pirate ships, but just not enough to sink any one. GB lost 12 ships with 3 of those being captured. Pirates lost 2 ships. Again very good fight form the Brit guys even though way out number ya'll came out and tried. Still gave it a good fight and didn't give up. -
Removed Way to Become Pirate
Sir Texas Sir replied to CrippleGod's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Oh yah when it first came out folks where doing it all the time, than they patched it and you had to tag them. It says your are sure. You said sure. Than it says if you attack them you will become pirate. I know that is how I became pirate. Than suddenly a lot of folks that switched over at the time said it was an accident when it really wasn't, it was just use getting out of the US or other nations. -
Removed Way to Become Pirate
Sir Texas Sir replied to CrippleGod's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Any one that said they accidentally flipped was BS. You had to confirm twice you where going to attack them and than it reminds you your going to turn pirate. It was more pulled cause of folks zerging to one nation more like it. Though with the papers now it's easy to switch. Though I would love to have a reputation system that allows you to change nation in game through doing Pirate deeds or working with a nation as a privateer.
