  1. If i had the gun boat I would so judge this for you guys, but sadly I don't. Though I would say if you want to do bigger numbers like 15 vs 15 I would pick a port in the middle and fight over it. Hell you do't even have to make it a port battle. Just do an open world engagement some where. 5 vs 5 or 15 vs 15. Though I do wonder does GA even have 15 players? I know VCO can field 15 though maybe not all in 1st rates, but I never seen more than what 5-10 GA guys in any battle so far. Going to go back to eating my popcorn and watching this.
  2. At that time it made since to split the servers. That was when I switched from PvP1 to PvP2. I was getting 10 min ques also and said screw this. That and was getting tired of getting ganked by 6-8 ships ever time I left ports cause it was over populated. That number of players was to many for one server, but we only have a fraction of those numbers total now a days so there is no reason to have 3 servers. Also remember how long EU Mirror servered lasted? The numbers dropped big time and they merged them back into each other......notice that...>MERGED IT BACK TOGETHER CAUSE OF LOW POP< They done it once they can do it again.
  3. Yah what did they take like 4 months to fix the port battle lock timers after they did the EU/GLOBAL thing. We where locked out of port battles in our own prime time for freaking 4+ MONTHS cause they couldn't fix the server prot battle timers which took like one little hot fix to final correct. All they had to do was move the no port battle window over 4 hours to cover the actual maintenance down time and not half the actual game prime times. Every time they do stuff I hate to say they half ass it. They should of did a complete wipe on both servers including clan tags and names of your chars so you had to come back and make actual new chars on the server of choice. I would love to see all the folks that don't want to play in a RvR time restriction to just make a char and come over to GLOBAL and play some. Don't come over and be dicks and hunt newbs and such, actually come over and be a part of the game. We might just find out we have a bigger population than we think. Now what I want to know is Devs said 50% of there sales of the game was North America, than why isn't 50% of the player base from there? They are loosing players and not figuing out why they can't keep that player base. Maybe cause there main server only caters to EU and folks want to play every part of the game on the server with most players. I picked EU server when I started simply cause of the number of players on it. Than I found that it's very anti against none EU players in some nations and switched to the US based server over a year and half a go and haven't looked back. I still keep a pirate over there that I had since day one and never let folks know it's me just for solo hunting one my bored days when it's slow. Another prime example they are EU bias. Why are w we getting three new nations that had nothing to do with this region during that time of the game is set? Instead shouldn't we be getting some proper pirate mechanics instead? Adding more nations won't work. Hell they should drop Swedes and Danes to be honest since they had little influence in this time. They have to many nations as is, you want to have more players in each nation you don't add more nations and not EU nations that had nothing to do with the region. You drop it down to a fewer nations. POTBS had only 3 Nations and Pirates for a reason. The three core was Brits, French, Spain. They where the power players of the area, but I see no problems with tossing in US and DUTCH since most of the sales was us and well a good part of the game land was own by that very country in the in game time period. These are things they should be doing to fix the game instead of adding new game mechanics that prob won't stick around. Fix what you got not add more stupid crap. They should never had three servers from the start. They should of had only one server and that is it (well maybe the testbed to roll out pre-patches to test). I never been in a game that was alpha stage and had a bunch of servers. They almost all had two servers if just one. A pre-test server and the one they rolled out for ever one to test (main). It's a waist of resources to have 4-5 servers going until release.
  4. 3 is a bit to much per day, maybe one a day. Some folks hardly have that many ships why can I move half my fleet in one day. Wasn't the cost before dependent upon the size of the ship and/or distance? I have stacks and stacks of them now....so what the hell are they of use to folks that don't switch nations? Hell let me turn them in for Paint Chest or something for remaining loyal to one nation and not moving around all the time. That or let me trade them to some that might use them. Well maybe testing these new nations will give us hope that they would actually use this for pirates or some type of pirate mechanics cause it would make more since to have pirates with no capitals and having to work up clan base controlled areas than nation based. Not that we ever expect to get any actual pirate mechanics at this rate. Instead we get EU nations that had no real influence in these waters during the games based time periods. And folks are wondering why your having a hard time retaining your none EU player base?
  5. Yah I have problem with the missions and ships used. What I"m talking about is on the old flag system if some one pulled and dropped a false flag you could go into the port battle. If no one shows by time battle start timer runs out and you exit as the defender port battle was won. Now you have to sit in there for 30 pluss mins. Since your defending you have to cap all circles and wait for the 1K points for battle to be over. Defenders need a fast way to win port of attackers don't show. Other wise this becomes an issue with folks flipping ports and not showing to tie up fleets. We had over 30 players at Nassau last week when it was flipped by a GB clan. They never showed, to busy helping US grind up agro on a small clan in the gulf instead. We still had to go in and cap the circles and wait the full timer even though it was our port and defended. We need to the auto win for defender to return if no one joins on attacker side at the start. Maybe make it so that if no one on the attackers side joins in the first 10 mins battle is instant win for defender. That will give fleets time to stage as we all ready have the 10 min window before points start racking up on cap circles.
  6. PS who ever shot me and OUTCAST when I was boarding him and lit me on fire (him too)....that fire was a yellow mag hit. Yes if I didn't have crew I and the free repair I prob would of blew up there if I culdn't get the fire in control. So please watch them friendly fires guys....lol
  7. Yah I think I'm going to start doing my post like this. Kidd's Harbor SOL port: 25 Pirates (always put defender first) vs 25 Some unlucky chaps. Port was Defended/Capture by Winner I just wanted to add to this since some one is going around saying we ditched AIB. We did not. HYDRA even left too as we where keeping the numbers equal on both sides. This was in an area we have set aside to fight over and not have any one butt hurt over loosing a port. It was also in ARMEDS off time (lunch for the AUS players mid week). We are trying to prevent off hour flips on all sides since they make up most of the servers AUS/SEA players that aren't Dane and even they been kinda hurting on players lately either. Not to mention we want some of the new smaller clans to get there feet wet and have some fun. We can't fight every fight for the nation and don't want to. It was a good learning experience for them. That was I believe honestly there very first live Player vs Player port battle that they did on there own. If it had been any other GB clan we would of course all joined in and helped but cause of the off hour flip we wanted to keep the battle fair on both sides. Hope they try more against other clans in proper time zones as they prob the only other clan than VCO and BLACK that can almost field a full port battle team in Pirates. I would also like to say had fun in Bimi even though I didn't bring my normal PB H rattler it was fun trying out something new in that fight too. It was all VCO's show and they had a lot of new players to Port battles. We should plan more battles like that between nations to help some of the less experience players get involved and new guys. That will help the player population way more than anything. We have offered up Nassau to be that battle grounds so if the US want to remain safe in the North Bahamas and leave our ports alone in the south we will do the same. Just no stupid crazy off time flips or we will start doing the same too. I would also like to get the other nations up there too. Danes/Spanish maybe can do it. Don't think there is enough French but if they could flip one AI port (each nation has one port that remains safe from flip). Than we can just do OW PvP and fight over some none important ports we can encourage growth in our lower level player base.
  8. We can give VCO @Khyron would that make it fair for them?
  9. The only problem I have are the shallow ones. Most folks take time to knock off the deep water ones if it's a small group doing them, but I can solo the shallow ones in any 4/5th rate with out hardly any damage. Than flip that port and not show up. Than it might become kinda of exploit/griefing if that starts to become a problem. We all ready had one shallow port flipped and the clan didn't show so it wasted our time as we all came and had to do the port battle to make sure no one jumped in for 30 mins. Maybe we should have some system if this starts to become a problem where a clan that grief to much (not show to a port battle) actually can loose there ability to cause agro on a port for a set time. Like a cool down. As it was an issue with constant false flips with the old flag system. We will see if this starts to be an issue though.
  10. I would prefer to see BR spread changed. Instead of being Shallows: 50-75 Deep water: 75-250 SOL:75-650 Maybe make some ports something like 75-210, or 75-300. Make the caps an zone limit the BR that can be brought in. Though I can see some small none important ports being 12 vs 12 instead of 25 vs 25. They need to be a decent limit and the maps are still big for anything smaller. Maybe some smaller ports can be 12 vs 12 and have only one circle system instead of the the three maybe? Those ports will have more of a king of the circle rule where you have to win the circle control or sink them all.
  11. How you know he was in a Molly House? Old British habits are hard to kill....lol Just joking. Looks like I'll have to modify some of these capture ships for salvage barges until all the wreckage is removed from the bay and safe ship travel can be assured.
  12. I have @Willis PVP2 do our battle plans every time he's on for the fight and this is what they look like. Remember now matter how much you plan, it all goes out the window as soon as that timer goes off. This was our plan for tonight's port battle. https://imgur.com/9JA0ZZt Most the time we just want the wind and basic lay out of the ports. Than we just go with it on the fly as the fight unrolls.
  13. Cartagena de Indias SOL port battle: 25 Pirates vs 25 GB Pirates lost 4 ships Brits lost 19 Ships (Plus more where was killed out side after). While I would say this was the battle of the circles but more just a big giant brawl in ships way to big to be Brawling in that tight of a space. It was a great fight guys and one thing I got to say I'm bring my freaking Vict down there for the next one. Something that can actually turn in that tight area.
  14. They really should remove the 15 knt cap on ships and make it only a percentage cap for each ship. So a ship that is 20% faster might go over 15 knts, but if can't than it can't. This will give the fast small ships a chance since it takes very little for them to hit the cap. Than all they have to do is tweek the 20% part of it to balance them more. The other problem is some ships need to be updated and rebalance. Connie and Aggy needs there old stats. Hopefully we will see this soon with ship rebalance that is to come. We need to bring back xp for damage for the last part as those little ships get nothing unless they do enough damage to get assist and kills. Like the other day when we took those three Buccs. It would of not been done if the guys in low level ships jumped in with a H. Rattler and Prince and keep them in the battle until the rest of the ships could show up. Those two players pretty much got nothing for there hard work. Only the folks that got to keep the ships (captured) got something. We did give one of the Bucc's to the H. Rattler player cause he could crew it. The Prince is only rank 3 so he got nothing.
  15. Kemps Bay: 17 Pirates vs 13 US players We weren't expecting them to show at first but got as many folks to show up. They cam in the south and we capped "A" and "B" and meet them in the choke point between "A" and "C". The battle continued to "A". I want to thank the US for actually fighting it out. This is getting to be a good trend. The more fights the more fun we have. Until next time.
  16. Only way I can see this working if there was a group called PORT BATTLE GROUP. That only the clan that owns/attacks the port can make and only those ships can enter the port battle. You an other wise always have some one not in the group just jump in. Kinda don't like this cause you can some times have folks fill last minute spots if some one gets tagged cause they fall behind or DC and need to fill the slot. I would more love a rate limit for port battles. Say we want all 3rd rates only at a port. They should do that with certain ports make the limits not the bast stepping stone. Maybe change the BR's a bit. Are you can change the BR lock limit. Right now it's. Shallow: 50-75 BR Frigates: 75-250 BR SOL: 75-650 BR What if we changed some ports so they are only limit to a certain BR like only 3rd rates and not all SOL so it would be a 75-400 BR limit. Maybe another port is limited to 5th rates and would have a limit of 75-225 (Indefatigable has a 4th rate BR so it will not be allowed in). Even have shallows with 50-100 BR so the Niagara and Cerberus can get into Port Battles, but this would prob be shallow ports that deep water ships can get into. I've have noticed shallows are kinda being added to battles (with shore lines and such). So maybe in the future we can have some cap circles in battles where you can only get to that cap circle with a shallow drafted ship over something deep drafted. We have a lot of options out there with some of the ports locations and lay outs that this can be done with I'm sure. Still any one on your list can join and lock out, that is why maybe a clan battle group for port battles would be the only way to lock folks out. I don't want to have to remove certain clans to limit guys form joining our group cause some random guy from there clan not on coms jumps in and locks a ship out that was in the battle group.
  17. Thanks guys seems to be working back to normal again.
  18. You should honestly test this with pirates and work towards something with them finally. Many folks have said they would love to see something more like Privateers for the clan base folks that want to do RvR and be hired out by other nations. That will still leave those without contracts/letters or Marque can still be Outlaws/Pirates. This would be a great time to finally do up some Pirate mechanics to not make them just another bastard nation and something different.
  19. Again I want to thank you guys for trying. The only way to get better is to keep getting back out there and fighting against others. The more folks every one is fighting the more experience every one gets and the better they do get. The other thing ya'll might want to try more than one caller and work on groups/sections. We honestly don't have ONE caller. We have some one that makes the big choices, but once the fighting starts we kinda group up and call out what needs to be done in our zone we are fighting with. It gets way to confusing having one guy call only. If they do this than all ports should start with no defenses and than you have to add upkeep to add towers and than forts to that port with the max of say 4 Towers and 2 Forts. If they get destroyed you have to rebuild them after the port battle. And just to be clear we have no plan to one port any clan/nation or roll up the East Coast. Now to be ever more clear if you attack major econ ports or can't keep your bloody hands out of the lower Bahamas (Nassau not included) than we will start to take ports in the Upper Bahamas and roll up the East coast. If you want to grind easy ports just for the xp than stop flipping all your ports. Leave some neutral like we have.
  20. As stated the combat news isn't reporting any PvP kills as we have some folks on the leader board, but nothing has been posted.
  21. And this guy cry's when we take one port from his nation. They act like we one ported them every time we take one port. Just think if we can steal there goodies too? Hell we wouldn't keep the port just raid it every couple of weeks to get the goods. I honestly was suprised to see such from a known carebear in game. Though with that I always suggested raids stop production for three days and the raiders get a portion of what ever would of been produced. Never from the players stock as that would as some said kill the game. WHat ever clan did the raiding would get what ever tax would of been gotten those days and such forth. I would say that would be the only thing that comes out of the clan coffer of the owner of the port. They still have to pay tax's or they loose the port but that tax goes to who ever raided them those three days. Along with the goods that the port would of produced or something.
  22. We had ships locked in Islamorada form pre-patch. We plan to take it all along for Pirates. As US like to now declare to all what ports are theirs we have the right to do the same. Islamorada has always been a pirate port and it will remain a pirate port. I plan to also open it up to all to let others use it if they so wish. VCO had no interest in the port as it was never one they used. BLACK does so BLACK took it. You want it back than try to take it back. SELF DECLARED DICTATORSHIP? Dude did you go to that meeting and hear the way MARS was acting to the other clans? They where declaring most of the freaking coast and Keys all US turf. Hell that was worse than Lionshaft and his KING OF US attitude. Well fine if you want to keep it than defend it. Ya'll are more than welcome to have the GoM as we have no interest in that area and that is why TRR got zero support. Should I remind you what nations said what in that meeting. "WE SHOULD JOIN TOGETHER AND CRUSH THE PIRATES." That to me mean ya'll plan to go to war with us. When are ya'll going to learn the best way to keep the heat off you from us is to not attack us. One way to make sure this doesn't happen is not to have meetings about making big care bear alliances and saying you need to crush the pirates cause of things done to you in the past. By they way we took Savanna cause you attacked us in two ports first (Islmorada and West End). Every time we attacked ya'll and took a port was cause of something the US did first to us. When ya'll going to learn that doesn't work? I would also like to remind every what ya'll did in front of Cayo de Sol? Exaclty how many US and GB ships where out side that port when we where taking it from AI? To use that was enough for us to see that in fact ya'll have declared war on pirates. Maybe you shouldn't of showed up with 30+ ships with most of them being 1st rates or SOL's? Ya'll just showed us ya'll have the fleets and numbers to pull off a full port battle. We where actually going to let ARMED take Islamorada until that happend. Hell we where going to stay there and used that as our raiding port for the key's/east coast. Now you just gave us more reason to fight ya'll. And that is exactly what we are doing . Let people fight it out. SO your saying we should sit on our arse and not get involved? MARS got cocky and we are showing them they won't have control over the Key's. If they would like to keep us from walking up there coast they should think wisely about what targets they might hit in the future. As you can see we had only had one other port battle against US and that was Nassau and we warned MARS we where going to take that cause we didn't want US in south Bahamas and that can be a port we can fight over, just as long as they don't go after the other ports in south Bahamas we won't go after US ports in North Bahamas. We are also trying to leave some of those ports neutral to let folks grind up on them and get XP since the shallow water hostility missions are great for that.
  23. Ok for the port battle let me start by showing a map of the port and the wind direction. Want to thank @Wraith again for doing this up for us. Most of US was position in "A" at the start of the fight with the Connie back in "B" capping it. As mention by others when we say three Mortar Brigs and a Connie we knew we had the main fleet out gunned. Our plan was to enter by the "C" circle send two to cap it and the rest of the fleet head to A. As you can see the forts and towers don't cover all of A so we let our guys know to keep from the bottom half of the circle. The way the US was position that allowed us to do a "V" formation and cut them off keeping at max range of the forts and towers. Pushing them out of the circle was our plan and away from the forts/towers. First off one US ship went straight at us and was taken down pretty fast with focus fire. The brawl did get engaged in "A" circle and started to push them out as this gave us control of both the "C" and "A" circles. During the fight a few US players pushed through and went to cap "C" back. This brought them out of the fight so made it even less ships in the main fleet. By this time we have sunk a few more ships. At this point the US fleet was pretty much falling apart and looked to be trying to do a retreating fight. They also had 4 guys chasing one ship that got separated by our main group. Again your 4 less ships counting the ones sunk and the ones off at "C" circles and the three Mortar bigs. Mortar Brigs have a place and time. This wasn't it at most on a defense you should of brought 1. They did hit a few of our ships and demast them but we had plenty of time to let those guys fall back and repair and than get back into the fight. If a mortar brig is running it's not firing. It was smart of ya'll to pull them back to the little island with the forts. Now lets look at the fleet make up. Most of our guys pick ships that they have the most experienced or was cheap to make from the start and grind out. We also are starting to lean towards the Victory's on attackers cause they have the best wind profile out of all the 1st rates and turn rate for brawling. Still have a few die hards that love there Santi and I prefer to use the l'Ocean on my alt. I'm glad to see two of you lowest ranked guys where the guys in the Mortar Brigs. It irks me when I see a low rank guy in a ship when he could fill that slot when some Rear Admiral/Curse is in a mortar brig and should be in a 1st rate. With that those guys prob would of been better in Bellona's. As would of been @Slim Jimmerson prob would of done better in a Vict (why are your max rank yet buddy?). With that get these guys to max rank will help you a lot. There is an old saying, "Your only as weak as the guy next to you." If he's in a sub-par ship than it makes you weaker. If he still sitting on a low rank and not leveled up it hurts your team when he comes in a lower rank ship. Fast ships do have there purpose in circle control, but this map really wasn't one about circle control cause of how it's laid out. The other thing the l"ocean i capped was tanked out, a lot of your guys where falling behind the pack. You need to know which guys are tanked out and slow and which are your fast guys. The L'Ocean I brought was Teak/WO with Cart, no other HP mods on it cause I don't want to be slowed the hell down and I want my turn rate and acceleration. Learn to angle your ship when being shot at. Learn to shoot at a ship that isn't angled. A lot of our guys reported shots being fired at them and just bouncing cause you didn't wait for that good broad side. Make those shots count and follow through with a team mate. Pro's of the US fleet: By what I understand you had every one using the same coms. Most of ya'll turned up with the proper ships for the plan, think this the first time in ages I seen that many 1st rates on the other team. We are talking about like since we took Port Antonio from the Brits days when we one ported them. Great job on that US. Con's of the US fleet: Focus fire on your targets, when I was side by side your fleet I should of gone down. That was mainly why I side scrapped the Vict and than boarded him while i was doing my repair. Ya'll should of had me at that point. Learn to board. The first guy I boarded and I was not board fit at all, but I did have my prep up, did nothing but button smashing. @Blackjack McGee you just got killed mainly on the prep...oh and you could of left the fight when it was over and saved your ship. You allowed me to do that last attacked and that gave me the ship. I honestly thought you got saved by the clock. Fight like you can't retreat. We never think of retreating from fights even when out number. If you come into the fight thinking your going to loose even when out number your going to loose. Running solo after the fight. I know VCO got one more Santi out side cause he tried to run from the port on his own. Ya'll should group up and leave as a fleet. Yes you might still loose ships that way, but you will loose them together not all by your self. Savanna's last port battle ya'll lost 10 of the 13 SOL's in the port battle. You lost the last three out side when you all ran different directions. Learn when to let targets go and how many to send after them. You don't need to have 4 ships to chase on guy down. You call off the slower ships of that group and let the fast guys that can catch them do so, if they can't than call them all back. The chasing game doesn't work in slow PB ships. I"ll leave you guys with a helpful training source since it's public records. While some of these moves won't always work best depending the build of the player (if your board fit or not) and the size of the ships fighting each other.
  24. Exactly I want them to get organized and better. The only way to do that is to fight some one of there level of skills. That and a few wins on either side would be good for the moral. If you been doing the same thing the same way for over a year and half and it's not working, wouldn't you think it would be a good time to make a change? Oh and any one notice the Brits clans are grabbing up a lot of ports? They are about to make the same mistakes they did the last patch.....spreading all over the place where other clans can not come help you defend key ports.
  25. While we did attack Nassua but that was NPG and I warned MARS about it and told them we have no issues with US staying in the Northern Bahamas as long as they don't try to move into the southern. One nation owning all the shallows is a bad thing as it gives folks of that nation nothing to hunt. I would actually encourage the other nations to take a port up there on one side of the line or the other. Spainish and Danes are more than welcome to take a port on the south Bahamas side. Brits I assume your going to want to take one with your US friends? France if your out there your free to take one too. This will encourage shallow water PvP, trade and other things. Nassau as long as it's in pirate hands will remain open to all. Just as we had plan to keep La Navasse the same (ARMED can make a call about making it open to all now). We wanted to encourage a trade hub. Though with Nassau we have no problems fighitng over that port if the others want to and won't take retaliation against any attacks unless they are something like what CKA did early this week. Flip it in prime time and not show up. Waisted our time but we figure it was cause of an attack on a small clans shallow water port in the gulf we heard they showed up to screen/flip. Exactly we attacked you after you attacked two pirate ports. While we have told them they won't get any support in the gulf from most of the other clans, but any way they took neutral ports not US ports. You than attacked and took Hitten Hatcha and Las Sabinas from pirates. That is two ports that US attacked FIRST. So since these where actions of MARS we attacked a MARS port for that reason and another. They been cocky saying that all the Florida is there's and no one can have they Keys. Well guess what we plan to have every nation in the keys to make that the new OW PvP hotzone for every one. Not only that this is also for a third thing a result of ya'll little meeting last week where you decided to become a bunch of carebears and KILL THE EVIL PIRATES. As you can see when some one declares war on you even in private you don't sit around and wait for them to make the first big strike. You attacked two of our ports so we took one of yours. We might even go back to the 2 for one deal, so that means your going to loose 3 more. Might want to get them fleets ready. You might want to look at that port battle screen shot again. VCO only came and screened for us. We ended up filling the battle group with mostly our guys in BLACK/BLOOD. We thank them for helping us fleep it and screening as we plan to do the same for them when they attack a port and plan to assist them in defending any ports they own. Just as we expect them to help us. That is how team work and organization works. All VCO did was fill in our ranks of the guys that left and went Spanish or in GS6 cause haven't came back to the game. We actually still have less active players than we had before this last patch and before wipe.
