  1. You see the video ? Wasn't green on green
  2. Not advocating anything. Giving my opinion on the subject same as everyone.
  3. All NPC ships may drop dubloons. Means a NPC you attack in the OW, means your own fleet NPC that gets sunk/captured, or a player NPC fleet ship that gets sunk/captured, etc All NPC ships may drop "crew pay" in form of dubloons. May means exactly that - not guaranteed.
  4. I find that totally reductive in relation to open ended wargame and fitting only to a arena game. As an example from RL, how much K/D you'd attribute a spy that stole plans for great offensive ? He killed no one, he didn't engage no one, but his side won the battle in the end. Same as in NA. Say you capture 100 enemy ships. You never sink anyone. But those 100 ships would beused by your nation to wage war on enemy ships / ports. What is you K/D ? Naught, but yet you did a great service as a captain for your nation in NA and gave a lot of ships to your fellows. Keep stats for Duel Tournaments and Arena please.
  5. Second account is a singular different captain that can, and will, be intercepted at some point, in the open sea. Even if the character is not used to sail, and only as storage, it is no different to clanmates constantly sharing dock space, warehouse slots and so on. I believe that each option, dlc or account, has intrinsic value to the individual that buys it ( note: i'm adamant that one should play as much as possible without external aids - alts, etc ) The extra Tow might be the edge of the iceberg, in the longest of runs, but nothing clanmates don't do for each other as well - "anyone has a tow?" - "sure buddy!" But if you purely writing about the solo player, then peace. That's a harsh choice to make when one decides to play a multiplayer game. Some would say it is... anti-nature
  6. Sacking of enemy ports should be also be option post victory ( at the disposal of the leading clan officers). PB not to occupy the port but to sack it of all valuables, burning of ships, stealing the warehouses etc. That would give you immense rewards in immensely valuable ports.
  7. Just a sidenote: he did what had to be done in the local tactical situation. He had a mission assignement. Be it to intercept the enemy attackers or go on free hunt ( air superiority ) patrols. As he said himself - there were plenty of better than me, but they all dead. Plus he wasn't a exceptional pilot, he was a exceptional killer. Go in, get close, shoot. Nevermind the fancy flying, that's for air shows. If thing got hairy he would disengage. Back to Naval Action open world war of nations.... Everytime a captain engages a enemy it should, by design, affect the war. Sinking a 74 gunner en route to the frontlines is as valuable as sinking him inside the port battle, or should. Stealing resources bound to shipyards to build a 1st rate is as valuable, or should, as sinking that same 1st rate in a port battle. Stealing a enemy valuable ship is as valuable, or should, as crafting it myself. Whether you like the playstyle or not is moot. Same as me liking or not set piece battles in a open ended wargame. That is what Naval Action is for me. For arena fights and equal matchups I have Legends for that... *waits for it* We will never, or rather rarely, agree on this point. Some play matchup battle arena modes, some play simulated wargames. ALL participate in some measure. Some are excellent sailors, others are excellent killers. I wholeheartedly agree with you that there's little space for "arena" gameplay. I totally wish there will be more options for Conquest aficionados that only want to do Port Battles. But please oh please, do not diminish the unsung guys that kill the enemy ships before they are born, or that sink them before they reach their intended targets and all of it not in the zones or patrol areas. Some of us really like the simulated character in the age of sail in the caribbean.
  8. Learn from them. Try to emulate their tricks. Practice. If you die in a group fight, stay around and observe the others, what they do what moves they perform, etc.
  9. Still valid most of it ! Especially positioning and working the wind to gain advantage.
  10. Map is huge ! 😮 C'moooon....
  11. Want to see all these pros take the challenge of making US a colonial power again in NA. 🤗
  12. Then I have to send my longboats to loot the longboats that my enemy sent to plunder the other fellow loot ? 😲
  13. Logged in Peace server and population increased nicely. Don't usually chat in there but nice to see the numbers grow. Wonder if a migration happened.
  14. We all do. Some guys want Patrol Zones. Others want nothing to do with them. Is so so so simple to accept. And here we are, all sharing the same game.
  15. Some are, some aren't. Some guys and gals live and die only for the PvP Zones. They constantly fight there. Others live and die for the sake of plunder, whatever form it comes. Others just want port battles conquest. Being open ended world anyone can do as they please, and the only way to stop them is for yourself to sail out and kill them. Let's not transform this nice set of data into a witch hunt to prove game design theories.
  16. Can they be shot at ? ( not that the rules of war during those centuries 'allowed' such practices but you know... )
  17. Not only NavalAction has that (that's the strange part for me. had enough US buddies buying other games that they seldom play ever... no idea ). But back on topic, sorry for the sidenote.
  18. Correct, during Port timer. There's plenty of ports with full open window.
  19. National is definitely more interesting IMO. Less individual but more sense of "team". Also Ships used. ( note: bloody hell, some of the folk on those pics do play a lot 😮 kudos ! but others with as little play have a high efficiency )
  20. Correct. it is a nominal value. Extras is the prize some of us hunt for. Hitting a "pay ship" on his way back home. Sorry m8, but my crew has to be paid... with yer gold. NPCs, entirely different story.
  21. So... like... we would be able to only Redeem the DLC ships in a Nation Port / Free Port where we had a capable shipyard ?...or... ?
  22. Gotcha. More risky business for the "possible" rewards when you take a enemy holding.
  23. You're right. We rove and run away a lot. Love the guerrilla warfare and hit and run. The same as you like your line battles. Anyway, gains from Conquest should pay off the enterprise of setting up a fleet to Conquer, i agree. Henry Morgan had to "promise" a lot to his fleet when he advanced against Panama, right ? Well, it actually paid off no matter the risk. We only have to rely on a hypothetical "magical" ingredient for modules or building woods OR major increase of trade to make it worthwhile. Doesn't compare. The pay off is too shallow in comparison. So loss of your enemy is your gain, that's how I see it. Start from this: not everyone wants to play nelson. Not everyone wants to play Medina Sidonia. Some just want to be Black Bart, Jack Aubreys. Some just want to be trade moguls of Salem. In a arena game of "Trafalgar" i would totally be there. But the game I was eventually sold is a open world simulation of the age of sail, with its activities, risks and consequences. As always, each pair of eyes sees things differently.
