Patch 10.2 - Changes to mission, crafting, ROE and other fixes
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
This is not a correct assessment. Of course experience vary and own one eyes only sees what one wants to see. There are plenty of trade routes and naval bases for mission runners away from capital. Not all nations are equal geographically and this presents a challenge. It is not about the durabilities. It is about the willingness to move out to the frontiers to fight. Many clans and solo players from all nations do this. -
Ship Knowledge - A Poll
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Werewolf's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I am still totally divided and the reasons are simple. One - there's no wall to play any ship. We can play anything with 3 slots with no issues. ( deathstar level being deathstars are less slots ofc ) Two - I feel that ships should be grouped, somehow by tonnage/sail plan/etc, and not be a linear branch tree. Hence I like the concept, dislike the layout, hope for a change with ships grouped but also expect the requirements to be increased. The full 5 slots to all ships up to the Constitution while running up from Midshipman up to RA seems on the spot. As fact - We can sail any ship we want at any time. There's no option in the poll similar to what I could vote. -

I get that organizing a clan is complicated. But has nothing to do with the 1 durabilities We are a tiny clan and we have our own specific crafting line dedicated to our corsair day to day life. We spend only a couple hours per week in crafting. The other 10 hours we spend out there fighting. I do have rules not from today. 1. cash aside 2. always sail 1 ship below rank and have crew reserve Has served me well in 5 duras and 1 dura.- 43 replies

Ship Durability suggestion

Messed up a catch on your brethren using the Pickle aye, was the one I surrendered. Caught the trader pants down but was greeted with coast guard. Forgot that I had transferred all the crew to the prize and didn't manage any to the pickle when back to the OW. As I said to KM - HMS Huntsman ( sorry if I mistake the correct name ), costly mistake Good NA moment with a successful raid and successful recapture.- 43 replies

Ship Durability suggestion
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Yngvarr's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
On the fire I feel it is okay. The spread can be felt and the urgency feeling of getting out of combat is there. The catastrophic fires don't happen so often, it is a one in a hundred for sure. I like it. It is of note that it wasn't a 1v1 battle, was a 1v3 and as I burnt the enemy kept shooting from crossfire so pretty the remnant structure suffered immensely, IIRC I still had more than half, maybe 2/3 of the bar. I did sink before it ran entirely out. If it matters the ship was a Niagara made out of Teak, bought at store.- 43 replies

Ship Durability suggestion
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Yngvarr's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Having lost 2 ships today ( still laughing my bottom out of it ) I feel that the 1 dura is perfect. One I lost to a uncontrollable fire. It kept growing as I was continuously shot. It never went into shock but ate through the structure. The other was a total lack of attention on my part on crew management coming out of a raid and a fleet recaptured the prize while I left only 2 crew in my schoon. I surrendered not to make anyone lose time. Was a solid setback but nothing breaking. Not giving a step longer than me legs and both ships have been replaced with the reserve funds. Now I just need to make sure they don't go down any soon even if it means I have to escape with grace from a undecided situation.- 43 replies

Yes , that is exactly the point. We can invade any rank solo mission. -
Patch 10.2 - Changes to mission, crafting, ROE and other fixes
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Overall solid. Good changes and quite eager to feel the changes the ships mentioned. Also "Solo orders are now available for all ranks". Sure. I know this is a insistent request by a lot of us players but in a PvP server... I will say "careful what you wish for, for it may become a nightmare", and it has started already. -
PvP Rewards - feedback needed
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to admin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
You have a point. How does it look in other similar setup sandbox MMOs ? Elite D, Eve, etc ? Everyone in capital ships ? Titans ? Does anyone besides a clan even hope to control a system in ED ? Or sectors in EVE ? No ill nature towards the comment, only tracing a comparison to the rest of the industry. And light ships can do what the big stuff can't. There's a place for all ships. -

Demasting too easy?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Kloothommel's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
You can. and you will melt it while they snap your mast. You will repair the rigging better than they will repair hull. -
Demasting too easy?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Kloothommel's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Messing up the rigging has always been a favourite tactic. But before we had murder 4 pounders snapping Essex masts from 1000m or more away and ultra powerful and accurate grouping of chain shot. Is our collective memory this short ? -

Both games have their place in the library. Legends will fill that small gap with free time. In any case statistics show that more hours are spent in a continuous way by one player in arena games than in games that require time to play. WoT vs Steel Fury for example. Or WT vs IL-2. So the "lack of time" does not correlate.

Trading in battle instance
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Koltes's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
One of the best suggestions and old as the sea. -
"If you can move your ship automatically, the said ship will be safe and risk-free during the travel. It shall not be a target in the OW and will always be safe and hidden in port or being towed." I think is the ironic form of it unless I completely misinterpret the meaning. We had it. We had all the teleports and tows and deliveries for the greater part of a year. The OW was still alive to a point but there's absolutely no comparison. We had this same situation, no teleports, before. The OW was populated. Now it is populated again. What is the not-so-good part of having the OW alive with ships everywhere ? Honest question, I am not understanding at all where is the issue with having a living and breathing OW where trade is conducted, combat sweeps are done, coast guards are deployed, fleets have sail out to PBs, logistics at clan and nation council level have to be applies, etc.

Interesting enough many products nowadays rely heavily on Video tutorials linked from within the game but will open in external browser. Not sure I do understand what you mean. I am a player, same as you. I linked that to show that some media makers actually put their time into helping out I did suggest scripted tutorials or specific Missions as tutorials, would require developer time of course.
