Yes. Naval Action is a bit more like Go though, providing more opportunity to engage opponents into well planned mistakes. Not surprisingly way more interesting than Chess. Given the subject of the mega patch, and not to go much off topic, there are things there were introduced/removed in this version that made a lot of players come back more than made some stop. We might guess what those specifics are, we might discuss the merits of each one but the big picture is, as a whole it is working better than before. I do agree though that it can definitely be tweaked in the entry level up to rank 4. That's the "tutorial" phase.

Sitting around a table is also a game multiplayer, social, with rules and needing a certain degree of imagination depending on the game type. Chess is boring though.

This is okay and true but rather intelligent gamers that are drawn to NA can surpass it, especially now that a lot of players do explain things on Help channels, it is great. Regarding the whole combat, trade planning, etc, new guys are us. Capable and willing to learn. Some are capable to see through the "clan slavery" that some groups tend to promote and do their own way and evolve with the game. It is also a good social experiment due to the multiplayer nature.

That's a dead on. In truth the 24.7 numbers are pleasing, there's always a lot of activity going around. There's a defined peak but not as pronounced as the EU server but it is totally normal, after all the split was due to that specific peak time, nothing else. What I would advocate, as opposite to senator Christendom, is not the Global for a globalist ideal but the increase of populations for two nations, Sweden and Spain. For some reason they are not popular in Global, or maybe they are just silent. Granted Sweden has the Suicide Squad and ISN fellows but that's pretty much it. A dozen ? No idea but seldom they show up. Same with Spain. Global is a good place to start anew especially on those two nations.

Ah yes, think the system always try to repair the maximum on the OW. -

50 is 5 repair cycles for a Endymion if i'm not mistaken. -
Discussion on Ship Repair
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Slamz's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
It is always a matter of planning the cruises once the forward base is setup - be it a conquest platform or a raiding have, doesn't matter much. Knowing how many repairs per cycle and how many cycles one intends to use in any give cruise - objective well defined - does make a huge difference. Hostility cruise is full non stop combat in its nature so one expects to do at least 1 repair cycle per NPC battle and keep a reserve of 3 for any chance counter-hostility PvP situation. So a lot of repairs if you don't want to return to port and you make long gaming sessions. Plus the board is level for both sides in a PvP situation. Both can repair. Both sides holds are relative to their amount of repairs per cycle. And yes, people are selling them quite expensive. A smart trader will undercut them all by a fair margin and sell thousands in an instant leaving them all greed gits to dry. -
Yep Maybe even the wreck stay there, after first discovery, and can be bumped by anyone. That could be cool.
-
If I have to guess the wreck and content are generated when you open the bottle. Message in bottle states location. You sail to location and discover a stash of goods that are unspoiled. Can range a lot in the amount. In reality we cannot take what we may, we have to take it all. Hence therein lies the issue. We can't take what we want, we have to take it all. Maybe that should be changed. There's no lack of information.

Totally correct. It is retro-active and provokes some discomfort..

A letter to the King - Latest Episode (Hiatus)
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Jeheil's topic in National news
Listen to the Royal Historian - "Any war away from your trading zone, from your ship building zone is a "free" war..." This is worth gold. -
Admiralty Refits
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Captain Lust's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Is this specific to one Nation or whole game ?! Looking at the data not all nations have access to all refits in an instant. Some have to smuggle, others have to make long trade routes. All can raid, all can conquest. -
Great Britain position in the map is privileged. Dead center, can expand to any direction with ease. That's not "little value". It is really good setup IF they want to take advantage. In the same way it can contract if needed and do a fighting retreat region by region and still fight a lot in the OW against hostility makers.

Admiralty Refits
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Captain Lust's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Steal them. If in PvP do arm some dedicated raiders for free in exchange for the goods they capture, specifically those goods. After all everyone has to sail. -
If I remember right a Trader Lynx can pick any wreck.
-
How do a captain knows what's leftover on a wreck before getting to the wreck ? I'm imagining the Quartermaster writing the entire list of all the ships content and putting it in a bottle

First Lieutenant is 150 crew, so yeah can be a Mercury a Navy Brig or even a slightly undercrewed Niagara. Myself, like to keep a buffer of crew in the pool to cover losses without having to rehire so i'm sticking with the Pickle/Brig for the moment being on one outpost and Privateer on another, both in opposite sides of the world. Granted PvP helps a lot with ship knowledge but the normal 3 and 4 slots are very straightforward up to the 120 crew 6th rates. Did unlock the basic cutter full, no idea if it influences anything.

Well done sir. A safe journey is always better than losing your entire trade convoy. You should ask how many have combats have occurred since two has been removed. Actually don't ask, better read the threads about some fellow players losing ships to someone else. Is it uneventful at times ? Yes it is.
