  1. Traverse training of cannons is not as smooth as we have it. Vertical had pre determined elevation wooden angles. A lot to be said about that in relation to our own "swivel" type of aiming in game
  2. Pyracy should be ( not as many of us do/did play by choice ) survival mode, mandatory by specific mechanics.
  3. No. The only gauge we all have, mods and players, is the chatter in chat channels and the CombatNews.
  4. Loot per crewman. A 60 crew schooner that hits a 500k cargo is definitely more successful than a 240 crew cruise that hits the same mark. Sounds good
  5. Captains of old did it by wind strength. Nevermind, they still do it today
  6. That goes a long stretch in assuming how to measure fun. To some it is indeed the 25v25 Trafalgar battles. To others is duels. To others is come what may, we took the day to battle whatever shape and form. - with proper decorum and brain usage of course not having to evade the inevitable. (( Last gank I suffered was indeed right at the start of the session during CombatNews day, French version, against some combined dutch and brit squadron, also in a aggy, some 50 minutes later went down saber in hand. Done. Sail out with a Frigate, get back into combat. Keep it going. We know exactly how that session ended. We didn't evade, we kept at it with intent and purpose, with a plan that does not lend any favours to meta gaming but was a true display of "what you see is what you get" PvP. ))
  7. My builds of choice will remain the same. The versatility has always been my choice. The OW holds too many unknowns to rely simply on speed alone.

  13. the santa marta open world port battle was between two battle groups. BR was fairly equal. take it as it comes, won't get more perfect testing than that.

  17. I am pleased. Never been too much reliant on gear to be upset by the changes. Actually wanting to see a more tthorough crafting system where all the options must be chosen and set on stone when you press craft.

  19. I won't ever give it a rest sir , in good nature I cannot. Even while chasing a poor sod I do it honest. Even while being chased I will do it honest. I welcome loss if it is honestly gained by my opponent. There's more ways to skin a cat other than resort to pieces out of the gaming board. Making them spread their numbers and concentrate your smaller numbers at one point would do way better than having to overcome a faux-perception of the numbers advantage. The honest captains under the Emperor did prove it. Without holes.
  20. Not diminishing any of the individual valor of any player under the black but... If you cannot enter a PB without loopholes you destroy them in the OW. Play honest. Play clean.
  21. Many Rear Admirals perform worse than many Junior Lieutenants. Rank is a misleading guide sir. Also, traders ( as in a trader ship ) have no rank. They are prime targets for commerce raiders. We all, all of we, did learn to play through really rough conditions. A good PvPer is not made by roving against lesser targets. We did grow by getting ourselves into tough spots and learn from the best, even with losing over and over again.
  22. What would be your incentive ? Mine is making up a character, choosing a main occupation for it, and unfold the events that shape the story.
  23. No trouble, was a welcome distraction from writing a harsh work email.
  24. If possible do away with meta by providing - leeway, variable wind, surface and high wind strengths, etc. That way we will see, by proper conditions, all ships having strengths and weakness as proper. A sloop was never ALWAYS faster. A frigate was not ALWAYS faster. A 74 was not ALWAYS slower. Also make rigging properly suffer from mishandling and having the wind blast away tops and even masts if the captains can't the steer it through wind proper. That's how you do away with meta.
