  1. Wasn't a try, was a honest thing but I respect a captain with secrets Not that most of the information posted in the wiki and other resource sites isn't community shared, but hey, snappy salute.
  2. I agree that a nice UI is sorely needed and is on the works. I agree more that a initial experience in the first 4 ranks without a overwhelming amount of information is more important.
  3. I am a player just like you Still learning new little and big things in game everyday.
  4. Commerce raiding. Inside enemy territory. Where "it should be safe". The more the risk the more the fun the more the profit. Schooners and brigs are the best bang for the buck. No need for frigates.
  5. Not you nor me, specifically, but whomever plays the game. Let's say that 700k is just an Attack away. Or that a 1st rate in materials ( ready to assemble ) is just around the next bay. ( in the time that takes to run from one Freeport to another Freeport, not bad for one hour of gameplay ) I agree some smoother way for the first four ranks should be considered. But not in the way that wrong lessons are learned.
  6. This is misguiding at best, but I recognize it is the easiest way to do. Easiest meaning less risky. What the "nostalgic old days" didn't have was risk. Risk was reduced to a bare minimum. Now, this need to grind can be reduced of course if the present situation of having to put yourself in the line of fire every time you want to move/sail anything anywhere. By the way, ranking XP works hand in hand with ships knowledge. Whomever redeemed the XP simply bypassed the rank but forfeited the ship knowledge. By the time a newcomer hits RA he will have a lot of ships knowledge, ranging from 3 slots up to full 5 slots in some. Money comes in a variety of ways. Easiest and safest being quick runs in local waters with a schooner doing 50 - 60k profit at each leg. Next easiest is missions. At the very opposite of spectrum is the commerce raiding / seizing enemy shipping. But yes, *forcing* newcomers to adopt a single way of playing the game, simply because we get comfortable with one single mode of playing the game can be very detrimental. There's not one true way to play. There's easier ways and riskier ways.
  7. a lot of information is left for us to discover. Dark Souls approach if I remember the correct term used since long ago.
  8. Hang the traitors !
  9. How did you come to the limit, please ? ( would be cool if the limits were by plans safety limits and going out of envelop could result in... damage to the parts )
  10. Previous nicknames can be accessed in simple gamer profile in Steam, so I don't see a big issue.
  11. We both agreeing that a slight change is beneficial Gunnery mainly. Speed sure, but please review the base staysails strengths ?
  12. and dispersion of shot and vertical training of guns also reviewed, agreed entirely.
  13. Gotcha. PvE server cannot capture regions but I get what you mean
  14. Marks - I was expecting them to be a Admiralty honor badge for well executed orders/combat against enemy nations - hostility, pvp, port battles. So PvErs could gain them from hostility points done against fleets, OW PvPers gain them with OW raids, combat, etc, and Port Battle admirals and captains in the line get them from their favourite arena mode. Instead they are turned into a necessity, not a reward. Also, in truth, it is not hard for 4 players to build an empire, to carve their own little world of naval action playing as much as 2 hours per day and some only play a evening per week. Newcomers have it harsh still mainly due to a overwhelming amount of information and very little guidance. Casuals is simply a captain that sets realistic objectives to the time it invests, usually the objective is per session - do a mission, trade some goods, sail to a port, enter a PvP battle, sail with some friends and do all the mentioned, etc. When done, logout. Next day login and continue its "journey". That's how much casual it can be in Open World.
  15. Djinn !? Dang, she comes and goes in a whirlwind of .... jacks and parrotfish !
  16. Of course they are. Of course they can be beaten. Of course they are not, of course they are not breakers. ALTs are not to blame. Players are
  17. Reckon we arrived at the end of the line. The kids in the corner want to play with the other kids as much as only them score the goals and the others just applaud. This is not even National News ( just noticed the board where the thread is ). No idea what it is... So to avoid any further knife fights, let's close it.
  18. Yep. But starting with the simple wind we have having more effect on the squares and then moving up could be worth a test. Or maybe it would just collapse into running fights... Was pointing the unrealism excuse to reason against more realism The compromise is technical, 100%.
  19. would like this to be changed to realistic just for the sake of completion.
