No sir, I meant no disrespect, we just stand in very different places. Maybe I am too much of a dreamer, but then games rely on imagination. I am trying to get the puzzle together linking your opening post scattered ideas and the assumptions we both making regarding game population. Facts are not opinions, mind you. Let's not make that mistake again, you and I. What defines the exact nature of what you mean of "death of a server". That's what I was waiting for in your opening post.

On the week previous to the 21st January EA release ? I'm pretty sure it was higher than 800.

even veterans do that. What is different is how the vets use the 2 hours. Also consistency of presence is a trait for veterans. Meaning, if a given scarred captains has the habit of playing the game every Saturday the entire evening, he can be trusted to show almost every Saturday in the evening. He won't show any other day, but his day of choice he is going to kick Game can be very complex at the commitment level and at the same time so simple with planning aka. not wanting to do everything at the same time. NA has a strong social interaction ( maybe fueled by "unintended" alternatives ) which many games do not have. Maybe the PvE server should be the high security option until a captain reaches fourth rank ? Then he has the choice to carry over to his PvP of choice or remain in the PvE server.

We have hostility to pave the way to a port battle, basically an arena type battle taking part in awesome port landscapes with defenses and fleets arrayed in spectacular fashion. Hostility is run by whatever means necessary - attacking open world NPC fleets, deploying smugglers carrying war supplies to "rebels" and actually battling and interdicting players from the enemy faction. This last option, bringing PvP to the enemy shores is, in itself, a prelude to a blockade if you think about it. Port Battle itself is sterile and with no connection whatsoever to the effort put by the captains in all the mentioned activities, being the easiest and safest form to attack the NPC fleets, the dishonest one being simply trading the war supplies to a ghost captain and the PvP option being the most focused on player to player interaction. Hostility can be run very very fast if captains choose to run up the NPC fleets. This could be tuned to half and quarter values for both sides, respectively, raising and lowering hostility. Raising hostility needs specific faction fleets, hence half value. Lowering hostility requires just about any enemy fleet, hence quarter values. War Supplies need to "run the blockade". Meaning they should be flagged as [nation] War Supplies and no cross nation trade of the mentioned items. Now, onto the prelude for a conquest age of sail deployment against a port. The port is technically blockaded. There's no way out and no way in unless running the gauntlet. I propose that once Hostility reaches the high mark the entire region gets locked down. - no teleports from and to the region ports until the port battle is decided - NPC shop ships get half price until the port battle is decided - "cannot gain hostility until..." removed entirely Economically, during a blockade, prices would soar, especially on the basic resources so maybe appropriate increase of NPC shop price resources could also be thought of.

Repair/Hold Speed Penalty
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Captain Lust's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Correct. ( makes little sense but trimming is a tricky business, so who knows. Some age of sail notes do say that some adjustment of the cargo seemed to have an effect on the speed but related to bow and stern heavy, which we do not have in game ) -
Pre Steam Level, 60 players. Post public EA, 5500 players high water mark. Rough estimate across all timezones monthly, 20k unique accounts !? ( not going to search the admin post about this number but is out there ) There's plenty of people that play once a week or so for a half a dozen hours on a saturday. You simply don't see their names that often.

Maybe the time has come for British Patrol Captains, being the subject of the thread, the Dutch and the French captains, that almost get in each other's way, to sit and define common objectives. I like the Dutch. I dislike ALTs.

A successful nation needs only the capital region and 1 region next to the enemies. Teleports assure that it will remain that way But that's a old old talk and opinions diverge as much as the speed bonuses percentage output. Going into port battles is good, some players will see that trafalgars is not their thing and dedicated themselves heart and soul to ow pvp, others do feel the call for the line of battle and decide to invest their time towards more of it. It is a win win situation.

why bringing ship capture back?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to z4ys's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Takes time for a newcomer to get used to the rhythm of the game. Same as jumping from a jet air sim and suddenly dropping to a 1940 prop. Everything will feel sloooooow. That is the very first thing that every newcomer must be ready for in the OW. It is not a rush and go, not a pop and out, not a ego bam. It is a deliberate slow pace mimic of age of sail. Also... planning. It is a game that requires planning, not sailing aimlessly. You plan your cruises if you wish efficiency- 133 replies

A failed port battle is a "raid".
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Slamz's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Yes. But locking the Facilities in the port for one entire cycle could be an idea. First and foremost, how does the machine knows the difference between a mock-up show up and retreat and a failed port battle ?- 15 replies

Having a No Mercy attitude or a corsair heart playstyle doesn't mean we are rear ends of mules nor that we do not possess experience in the multi levels of the game. We love reading the most funny assumptions raging like wildfire. Thanks for the gun salute Davos.

Yes. Not disagreeing, just placing half the responsability on our shoulders, the players. Mechanics can't do it all and if economy must be run by us, to a point, well then we need to actually work together, especially in the same nation That being said, equipping captured cannons in the OW should be possible. Like, must stop in the OW, have a timer like in Pray after we click Commit changes.
