Prussia,Russia,Poland Why?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Urchin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Dariena was Scotland/Ireland colony tryout for a dozen years or so. Maybe we should add one nation more -
If there's nothing more to add, by means of proof by the reporter, the reported and the Tribunal ( as per Tribunal rules), lets leave it as is and gamelabs to do their thing.

All good. While there was full access to all areas I would sail with a buddy everywhere in my favourite type of ships and playing my favourite act. I would still collaborate with fellows from other groups, in a exchange of plundered cargo for ready ships or other needed assets. Now with all protective situations there is little to do as raider, so of course the career changed to flag squadron once more . Still in company and still in collaboration. Was playing recentle on a normal nation, with safe zone. If I wanted to play solo i would spend my 2 hours with absolutely no problems. Had every resource in the zone and could fight the bots and do the missions peacefully. Very much like the PvE server.

Searching hours for PVP
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Er... hostility missions are open for 90 minutes... the defenders can invade the missions and then pvp happens. Maybe I was not clear with "forcing a PB", was more like "raising hostility alarm". -
VMs is a complicated issue. The fair option is to keep the 3 places for nation, okay fair enough, but award VM after cycle to the captains that did sink/assist sinking of enemy player ships in the PBs. So, there must be a PB, and there must be a sinking for one or more captains of a nation that achieves 1st, 2nd or 3rd place to be elligible for the VM. Others can keep on OW pvp and exchange as normal.

Searching hours for PVP

Forcing a PB in there will surely attract attention -
You keep denying there's groups of players playing together that achieve the aims they set for themselves. No one can help you there. And yes, there's groups with more than that. Worldwide communities, so they always have players online Some play once or twice a week. Others day in day out. Others daily. In the end the community pays off. In the end they all collaborate and have good fun together, as a multiplayer group.

Searching hours for PVP
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Slim McSauce's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Use the Bahamas. You will have pvp very fast. RvR very fast. Resources under control. Non stop combat. Do not fear the roving around less popular coastlines. There's a lot of shipping out of the mainstream areas. Big squadrons scare the populace back to port. Fairly small squadrons get into fights faster. -
Was a french frigate in the case I was thinking of. But hey, keep your urban myths close to you, they are comforting A group of 5 players is sailing all rates. Is engaging in transport of resources through enemy territory, always escorted. Same group is building ships and everything else needed. They also engage regularly in pvp. Nope. They are not the exception. They embrace the multiplayer nature of the game and play together, plan the cruises together, in sum, they have fun together and evolve together. Now imagine a clan of 25. or a group of 100. Those will always always always have the upport hand over the solo player. Which is what this discussion is about reading all the previous posts. It has nothing to do with pve protection from pvp.

Bahamas region is a "mini server" on its own. -
carribean server Join Sweden for free Pretzels!
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Havelock's topic in Caribbean News
Never sailed a Wasa, never will. Time to raid Sweden, been a while nothing like being sunk by ol' chaps -
It happened before as well. The auto will simply "reset" any manual you've input and re arrange the strengths on sails in that split second. There is a point after the tack through and even wearing with where the switch to auto is seamless. It is not the same in all ships though but easy to practice.

carribean server Join Sweden for free Pretzels!
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Havelock's topic in Caribbean News
Yes, easy to remember that Sweden was reduced to the capital not once but twice in the past ( black thursday ! woohoo ! 13 ports lost in a single eveningy, was it ? ) and had to deal with it and forge themselves into a well organized nation to prove themselves. Some of the veterans lived through it all without a blink and came out stronger. -
I come to the conclusion this is not a discussion about pve/pvp choices but rather a solo vs multiplayer choices, but hey... let slip the dogs of war. Bom Natal moço o7

Historical note, insurance did not pay losses ferried outside the organized convoys. Actually it did for some insurers ( they got very rich at the expense of hasty merchants and smuggling btw ), but was too steep to be practical given it didn't cover full cargo loss, and rarely the ship at half charter value ( not construction value ). Organized convoys being the key. In truth, and talking about "instances", trader vessels that got windward did fall prey to raiders in full view of the convoy escorts that could do nothing to help due to wind. That's how easy we have it in game. By all means lift all protection areas, spread the resources all over the map, let trade be as essential as war and leave your battles always open ( until they are over ). Let the navies be navies and not mere "ship museums" with dozens of ships sitting in the docks. Fair and even playground. One captain, one ship. No protection zones. No NPC fleets. No timers. No F11 coordinates. Let slip the dogs of war.

Fair enough. But given "in reality" a ship would never fly a ID, i wonder how "in reality" comes to play when a trader would even have an idea it is a enemy ship until it is too late. But hey gameplay, so everything cool. I would, "in reality", sail in port, with the naval base just up river, board and steal a brig at anchor - tradesmen scared to hell surrendering the ship, they are not fighters, nor marines - and sail away with it as prize, and even hail the patrol with impeccable english explaining and showing flase papers, even having a tea while waiting for confirmation, and then make way back to homeland. The timescale is equal for everyone atm. Maybe some groups are just more organize and collaborate more than others. It is not the timers. This has been proven. But by all means, let rip with them open all the time. More meat for the grinder, given at the moment is all flag squadrons flying around

Shader model 5 is hardware related. The software does need the hardware to be capable of it. This is GTX 260 capabilities.

I just provided a equally valid argument sir. Timescale and how to reach to places. aka. you are there or you ain't is it good for gameplay ? you think of saving your buddies. I know exactly of how to ambush you and your buddies blind with a long timer. been there, done that. We do not test for own concern but fair honest experience and equal chances.

I totally support that. Let's make timescale 1:1 in OW and in battles and battles stay open all the time. aka. you are there or you ain't ( or players can collaborate, setup regular convoys and escort them. nothing stops you from doing this except your own haste ) @Sunleader Yes. It is a jungle out there. That's how it is in wargames somehow. Go fly alone and be prey or fly with a wing and put up a fight. Choices choices...

Make sure you did all steps correctly. Last step you need to type the correct words in the text box.

What does the A-P-C Dots mean for Ports
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Sunleader's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
A - Available - port has stock of the resource/material by last news brought by "abstract" mariners. Tech level is value after maintenance, so it updates once per day. P - Produces - the resources can be harvested/mined/etc in the port. A building might be necessary. Captains can fullfil contracts immediately for that resource at the (P) location by paying 4 times the production value of 1 quantity of the resource. C - Consumes - Port pays higher value for the good. It demands that item until quota is full. Quota is also updated once per cycle, same as in (A). -
Do we still need a wipe?
Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to IceBurg's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
IMO we need to level it out on release. Knowledge of how game is played is never lost. That is the edge the EA crowd has. No need for assets. -

Hethwill, the Red Duke replied to Yngvarr's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Submit full battle videos and full details to the devs whenever bringing something like this. Make connection tests to ensure it is not desynch problems on your side. Street word is meaningless. Closed. -
Go check your figures in all the books you can devour about naval warfare. All of it is based on trade protection and transportation of goods and control of routes amking sure enemies do not intercept allied shipping. A wargame based on sea, in any era, is in its essence trade wars. Navies protect trade which fuels building navy. Not that it matters at this point anymore, for you. Stay safe captain.
