PvP XP and gold -rewards balance
Sir Texas Sir replied to Anolytic's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
One of our new guys in clan did some PvP with us the other night. He's only a Raider I think or had just made it after the fight. It blew his mind when we caught a Bellona and sunk it and than Bucc how much XP he got over PvE. It's not like that on testbed. It's funny we find a lot of guys that get into PvP didn't know how much more xp and credits you make from PvP kills over PvE. Most of them find out when they get into there first reall Port Battles and live or PvP fights where all they did is help and shot sails. -

Actually you only get if you did any assit or kills and won. So say you where in the back of the pack and didn't get any damge or hardly any but your team wins. YOU GET NOTHING. Say I send you over to circle C to cap it and no one goes to stop you and the fight ends. YOU GET NOTHING. -
I don't have to do any thing. What I'm going to do is every thing I can to get the biggest edge in game as long as it's within the rules. If I'm not crafting on those servers but have chars so why shouldn't I trade those hours since all my chars are level 50 crafters? Plus labor contracts (the way I would trader labor) are very handy when you get others to build things like ships for you. People do it all the time in other MMO's. They make chars on other servers to trade with folks. Sounds like ya'll need to get some friends and clans to help you get things built to me. A solo player is always going to get out performed by any group of players no matter what. If you keep bumping up things for the solo player to compete it's a never ending cycle cause that group gets bumped up too and you will never be able to compete.

With that same thought wouldn't that mean I would be even more willing to want this? There needs to be something to slow down production and I don't see an issue with 2000 Labor hours max and the current amount of labor. In fact when I run econ on my chars I have hours left over big time. Alts are nothing but other chars/players. If you had a clan that worked together than you wouldn't have an issue with getting things and pooling them. So with that if your solo and not going to have a clan or alts than it should take you some time to get things built up. A glan of 5 guys very well organized will out produce me with my 3 chars any day. A clan with 100 guys all in for them selves and not helping each other is going out produced by a clan with say 25 gusy or a combo of alts and players total that are very organize. Sorry if you don't plan to work with others it's going to take you some time. You want to produce more quicker? Than get into a clan and work as a team.

Yah that first one should been the low one by the sounds of it, cause there was a big BR diffrence between ya'll and the AI. The second one BR was closer and it was a first rate so you should of gotten way more. Just doesn't sound right at all. They need to take a look at this or we will never level up or gain ship knowledge either. Which seams that is what they are trying to do slow the grind down for every one. I hate to be a casual player tyring to rank up anything with those numbers. I was getting about 20-25K credits and around 300-500 xp killing those 5/6th rates in my Aggy with a Connine in fleet and it was normally 2 vs 5 in most of the fights as I was trying to find big fleets on the OW to hit. Speaking of which I spent a good part around Atwood/Pitts and couldn't find hardly any fleets. How the hell are we suppose to get agro and flip a port. Most of the ones I did find weren't british ships but other nations too. The few fleets I was finding where over in Atwood waters and didn't count for that region as they where ships heading back and forth from like Kidds or something. -

Just a heads up click on those and expand them next time. It will give us more detail of what went on. I was getting way more than that killing 5/6th rates on OW. Though I'll admit I was using a 4th rate. What ships where ya'll in to cause remember the rewards are weighted by your BR too. If you in something way bigger your going to get less rewards. If you killed a 4th rate with a 5th rate you will get bigger rewards than if you killed a 6th rate with that same 5th rate. Though I do agree the rewards need to be changes. You need to get XP off your damage. The credits and Marks I can say stay with the assist and kills, but xp should be rewarded no mater if you sink something or not. Oh and this was exactly what I was complaining back when every one was running around in 6/7th rates and saying it was ok. Yes in low tiers I think it's balanced right. Mid tier it's not enough and I haven't played any SOl's to know what they would be like. If you got 9K credits for 2 asssit in a SOL PB that is just insanely to low. Wouldn't even pay for your crew lost for the most part and what every you had to replace like repairs. -
a lil' help for beginners
Sir Texas Sir replied to Stilgar's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
That is why they get the 4 ranks of solo missions. Cause capitals aren't shallow waters and won't have small ships or very many for them. Those missions are only to help new players level up. -
a lil' help for beginners
Sir Texas Sir replied to Stilgar's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
And you can't do this around the protected waters of your capital? You say only the first few ranks that isn't much and I would assume most capital waters will be very protected by most nations. As for crafting levels that really shouldn't have anything to do with you main rank. You can be crafting level 5 and a newbie or you can be a RA that just hates crafting. Just help out the new players when they ask protect your capital waters. Most the times when I see new players get killed around this region it's cause known of the vets will come out and protect them. Instead they prefer to go off some where else and ignore the problem. Don't be that vet player. Specially with how the new system is going to be there will be a lot more national players around that area from start. -
Well it is a weekend but I think we are getting either one last hotfix on Testbed Monday or we are getting the patch on live before the 24. @admin said something about this over on the Russian section in the Q&A so lets cross our fingers.
-
I been using them a lot on testbed, but I used them a lot on live on the bottom decks of most my brawling ships cause those fights tend to be under 500m and they shine when your down to 250 or even 100m side by side with a ship. NO it doesn't things are suppose to take time to make. Once we all get settled in we are not going to have the issues we will the first few weeks or even the first month. I was doing my labor for my buildings and having tons left over for mats. Now when you build a ship it eats up most of it, but than it should. When I run most 4th rates or above I tend to put Mediums on the bottom decks and than longs or carros on the decks above. With the 24/18 or 32/24 combo mediums on the bottom and longs on top you get exact same reload for all you guns, your do more damage up close (don't even talk about double ball in them) and you take less crew so you can better man your guns and sails. At that size gun that is almost 2 crew per gun difference so a good number of crew you have free to main other guns or be taken up with as Marines. I found double charge helps at range with Mediums, but that is why I keep longs on the top decks. I will use those until I get into Medium and Carros rang. This set up is for fights like Port Batltes and PvE grind not for your average OW PvP though. I tend to run all longs for that depending on the ship.

Decentralised Economy
Sir Texas Sir replied to Fellvred's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
As for the Shipyard thing I don't think it shoudl be a national thing. I'm sorry I don't want to depend on others to make my cannons or ships. I will depend on my clan mates though, but say I have a fall out with them (prob never happen) than I want the option to build stuff myself. Now what I wouldn't mind seeing is the level of shipyard tied to the port. Shallow Water Ports only level 1 shipyards can be built Normal Water ports up to level 2 shipyards an be built Lineship deep water ports up to level 3 shipyards can be built. Than again if these seeded woods don't work out I think they should make a Timber Yard for you to put in a port to get the woods it produce. One building for all woods type but you are limited on your labor hours what you can harvest or not. The same goes for Mines in ports. One building that can mine any metal/stone in that port. -
I have one alt that was set up for crafting only and you don't have enough slots to set one up with the ship perks and all the crafting. I have points left over. I did take one fleet slot but I took the Lightship/Frigate crafting perks, Foreman and the Royal Ship builder since I figure I"ll prob only be building those ships. Any Line Ships it will be a while before I build them. They really need to have the crafting perks tied into your crafting level and the combat perks tied into your Rank. @admin Hinted at Privateer, Trader Brig, Surprise and Indefatigable as the four ships. The Pandora as much as I would love to see it sooner is we aren't suppose to get until the game release or right before.

I really really hate to say it but I think this is spot on about how they been doing every thing. I agree with the rest of the stuff you said too, but it seems they are making a lot of these changes for this and not doing what they shoudl be doing. PUNISHING THOSE THAT GET CAUGHT. We have found so many ways around certain things on test bed simply cause of how hard they made it to do things and the grind. They seem to forget when you make something hard for folks, it drives them to find something easier to get around it. Some of the problems have been fixed but not all, but I don't get the reason to hurt the rest of the plaeyrs that are playing the game fairly. You only get rewarded if the ship is killed, you still get assist on that kill though, but unless the ship is sunk no one gets any rewards. Though one good thing is if you get sunk by your buddies sink a ship afterwards, as along as you did enough damage to get the Assist/kill you still get rewarded even though you sunk too.

Testbed Santa Cecilia Devs gift
Sir Texas Sir replied to a topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Well for one it would of been nice if more than just a dozen got it on PvP2. Many of us have never seen one. Speaking of which I need to beat up a clan mate and make him let me play with the 1 dura capped one he has. Crap 7 was on last night I should of asked him if he still had the one some one gave him a while back...... -
Welcome to hard core mode that only rewards the winners or those that kill folks. You get nothing for helping unless the end product is a kill. I think what would help is if you where rewarded the assist even if the ship wasn't sunk reward. A smaller persentage of the xp/credits off your damge, but the marks and full rewards are only for kills.

To be honest I would prob do something like this if I was the leader of a big clan, move away from the main area. If I was French I would go stake our claim in Lousiana. Remember you can allways leave a port in the front line of you rnation to jump back and forth to where the fighting is at. That is why you never put all your eggs in once basket. Even though we can't telport to freeports if you have one close to your main econ port you can set every thing up there and just move it in and out until you can take the region back. You prob shouldn't be doing your major resources/building on the battle front lines. You want to tell me how much wood is going to be left if you have 100 players in one spot all using the same resources? There is a reason to get away, it's called your own space and not over us of resources. How much you think will be left in those shops with every one and there mother grabbing every piece of wood and other stuff dropped?

Yes many us are very competitive PvPers and hard core players, but again I'm going to state we are prob about 10% of the game population. We need to look at things as a new player and the casual average player and how they will effect them. Like I said I'm all for removing the last digit so it goes from 71.23 to 71.2 but not with removing it completely and not without a complete in game replacement.-

You will get your Rank and Crafting level in redeemable xp for both. So we been pushing all clan members to max out there ranks. I been pumping out labor contracts like crazy (three level 50 crafters) to get many of them ranked up and we got just about every one. After patch remember you only gain crafting xp from crafting ships, nothing else.

Sir Texas Sir replied to BallsOfSteel's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Why can't you still get lost? I don't get it why do you have to push M and look at the coordinates if you don't want to? No one is forcing you too. So with those that don't want to use external means to plot courses (you know the general population of the game not 10% of it.) Shouldn't they have those resources to use in game instead of getting completely lost and not having a clue where they are cause there is no in game (if the coords are removed) to figure out where you are. Remember it's not a DOT on the map, you still have to look at the map and figure out where you are at and I know a few folks (even I gotten it wrong) that can't figure the in game coords for the life of them and they stick to the land. The majority of the guys speaking all have played this game for a long time and prob know most regions of the game like the back of there hands. I rarely ever use the Coords unless I"m doing long trips across open waters. I see roughly where I am (you know like a ship navigator would do while plotting course) than I adjust my course. and again it's not even a dot on the map. If you going to adjust it than I would say just remove the last digit so that 69.82, 31.54 (kidds harbor by the way) would be 69.8, 31.5 and not remove it completely. Though removing the . is to much as you can be a very large area off course and not know where you are.-

Don't ask me just repeating what Devs have mentioned. Well the LVG is a 5th rate and really I can see why both where, though I would make it something cheap like PvE marks to get the permit/bp's. They are both kinda more merchant ships than the others. Really you can still use the Trader Brig/Snow and get stuff down. Remember we have other 5th rates that need permits and it seems all 4th rates need them too. I think it was more a way to make some trade ships special for the econ guys. If they keep with that I would love to see one more bigger SOL level merchant ship. Something a trader/econ player could make and still bring to the fight, but hold all the loot to bring back for every one.
-
Kinda wish you can do your crafting resources remote. This is the only problem I have with no telport. It basically means you do all econ. Than go to new region to fight. Return with a fast ship to friendly national port and than do all your econ. Bring supplies back and do raiding for another three days. It's the only way you will be able to support a forward operation and still be able to do econ. I wouldn't give up on french center interest. I know at least some folks plan to hold that area early for a a forward base. Though sadly LA might be a complete lost unless some clan goes out there and sets up a base to be away from every thing. I know if I was french I would want to get away from that cluster ya'll got around the capital pretty early if I want action. Not to mention most nations are prob going to be doing a region grab early of easy Spanish regions to snag up. Would be funny if a big clan or two went Spanish instead and gave a few of these greedy folks a fight lol What I found and haven't checked if your in another ship while checking the stats...it counts your cargo in the ship your in against the speed of the stats.
-
If you go to the data page it gives you the actual hard stats for each wood type . Though remember this can be subject to change so only use it as a reference unless devs say other wise.

Can't remember which of the Devs posted this but it's handy. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mIxvb6VhneMy0pNL5Cht1Wg28dyNlC-cGtEUhTfuY08/edit?usp=sharing
