Forthcoming patch final discussion.

You're right. @Schuetzengel had to point out to me that some people pay to do things I consider boring. Fox is annoying as hell, but PvP is the biggest attraction of OW and I agree with him pointing it out. My sense of fun is inversely exponential to the amount of depth and eco there is. I feel obligated to push back at eco stuff. I recruited five guys from wotlabs.net to this game. They loved it. They quit because of lack of PvP and no sense of fun in ecogrind. Anectode, I know. But what if you guys overestimate how many people get fun out of it? -

Hey, @Mrdoomed! Tell us how to make OW work better. In other posts recently you've told us you've known it all along. Don't hold back, please share the details. I was here when you came to this forum but I must have missed your important posts. -

I'm so looking forward to quoting this later. TIL: I have ADD and have been playing nothing but tazmanian clickers the last 15 years, oh, and during that timespan I've only spread across three games with NA being one of them. -

You. I made a post about traders. ____ About newbie help: I want to take away most ,if not all, grind combat bonuses veterans enjoy over newer players. We still have a long way to go. -

I remember the big push for 1.5-2 min timers best. The insta close mechanic relies on the discarded big joing circle, but it may have had a very negative impact on the player psychology. We were never married to the idea of insta close, wysiwyg in whatever form it may take is where it's at for hunters. It's these things that have me thinking that players like me are more trouble than gain for the OW. I struggle to be happy with the time sinks and my goal for being here is imposing loss on someone who tries to avoid it. I did many "draw and tell" posts on the speedfitted traders with the implication that anyone awake and with half a clue are virtually uncatchable in the OW. For the record; I did that to knock at the speedmods themselves (jodgi's broken record), I never cared about traders, RAKERS never cared about traders. It was the "it must matter" crowd that asked for reduced speeds for laden haulers. I'm getting to the point now: Not only were laden haulers beat with the ugly stick but traders as a class now have lower speeds than their fighting ships counterparts. Isn't that a much larger negative for the rabbits than any ROE changes us hunter players ever asked for? If the rabbits suffer, if that's a real concern, you can alleviate that pain tremendously by allowing fast traders again. I can promise you RAKERS and OCEAN (among others) won't mind a single bit. -

(My emphasis) The rare and expensive speedmods even decide if you get a fight or have the possibility to disengage. I get that the eco guys and PvE grinders need to have carrots to work towards, but must they be so strong, or even tied directly to combat? As I see it PvP has struggled in OW since the start, the base of this is fear of loss itself. Now, this is a feature that sandboxers place tremendous value on, fine! Must we multiply this problem with "optional" rare loot or expensive upgrades? I was told that a certain RvR/PvP clan has a PvE grinder sub-group that grinds out shiny stuff for them. This is game content, socializing and cooperation. Good things for a sandbox game (I presume). I cannot help but feel this is playing it fast and loose with server pop. Note that I don't condemn that particular clan for doing it, I may let a smirk flash across my face, but given how the game is set up it is a smart thing to do. A few weeks after OW opened up for santi owners I started my campaign for "New players should be able to, fairly quickly, get competitive gear and fight us old dogs without a gear handicap." Is this impossible or wrong in a sandbox game? -

That's cool and all, but it still pushes people towards giving up instead of inspiring them to work at "deserving" it. -

Hah! In what """"""""""""sim""""""""""" was this ever a debacle? Arrightarrightarrightarrightarright! Let's flip it over then: IF PC and consoles fight it out on the same server you're saying the console peeps won't mind the difference? No chance of bad blood? -

Oh, for sure! Though, I am a tiny bit worried about how the console guys would feel when we have more than a slight edge with our... ...superior controls. Console guys could be given hull aiming assist to level the playing field somewhat? -
There's been a little talk about it lately, so I wanted to check the stern gun arc of the bots. I took the first I found: Trader Brig. I'll check my live TBrig later, but I doubt we can swivel our chasers that far out. edit: live Tbrig check. aimpoint: That's nowhere near as wide as the bots' arc.

Here's my uneducated hypothesis about the Prince and the hermaphrodite rig: We see the rig with the big foremast yards that cues us to expect it'll work just like on the shiprigged (?) ships. This is what the simulation looks at: The foremast yard just isn't there to be manipulated. Just like the the other little ones. How should we balance the prince if we could boost turning, downwind speed, sailbraking, gunnery course neutralize (yard depower), tacking and reverse sailing and steering? My first impulse in a tack was use manual yards to help, I kinda want it too, but we need to be careful what we wish for. What about all the other ships from Privateer to Niagara if the full Prince was unleashed? Be gentle, pls...

almost (w/o direct sunlight): Be aware that photos on the internet are usually boosted, your screens boosts stuff in "gaming mode", your screens are crap and even your drivers may fiddle with color and brightness. Blue and yellow does things to your brain in any and all cases; when it seems glaring it's working as intended (says your brain).

People advise me to just go out in capped ships. That's even cheaper than what you suggest (free), but you wont't get the ship build you like. I wish I had a way to get a good ship and avoid all the eco stuff, I'm not betting anything on it happening, though.
