  1. Ehm We will repeat. Steam and game rules say - if you bought the game and have not broken any rules you can play the game without any limitations. This means if you have bought 10 copies you can play on all of them without limits unless you broke the rules (for example interfered repeatedly in the port battle activities) Alt = logged in player. We allow alts because steam allows alts. Attempts to present alts as bad should be directed to steam support requesting them to ban players for usage of multiple steam client on the same computer or from the same IP. Alts exist in all games (or twinks). So for us - Alt is just a player. Unless he breaks game rules. If a player sails to sink an npc and get a reward its allowed. If a player sails to raid a port - it's allowed. This event is for everyone = for every logged in player. They are the target in both cases and can be sank by others. If others wish to do so. Meaning the server can really **** someone up if they gang up on the port (getting the reward increases - making raiding yourself somewhat counterproductive. * who knows what that collective of raiders would do..   3. Assets lost to bugs have full return guarantee We are not best players and could defend the port internally in testing. I am sure the nation with a full bonuses port can field a top class fleet to defend it and will defend it. But if so happens that someone will lose - it would happen because of bad choice of ships or because they did not read our first post with our amazing tips on strategy. + We understand that losing a 55 point full invested port is bad and will piss off some players, but please do not forget that losing a full invested port to NPCs will also ENTERTAIN the rest of the server which is a lot more people. Large strong nations have strong hardcore veterans.We know that hardened veterans who built those ports by pvping and conquering and will never lose a port to NPCs unless other nations unite and screen them out.
  4. A trading ship carrying very expensive cargo to a distant port is a target even if it is an alt. We do not care if an alt sails outside and you should to. As long as it is attackable for profit. + We did not say there will be no consequences for the raided port going forward. We said there we might add them in the future if raids become popular.
  5. You are missing the spoon of shit in the barrel of whiskey. Which can be spoiling the whole barrel. Alts exist in all mmmos and should be always taken into account. But Alts are a minor problem. Main problem is griefing and raid denial by using friends and other nations. And even 6 griefers can ruin the raid for many (If it is symmetric pvp only event) The main goal is to be for everyone and without griefing. Which means it must work even if there are only 6 players online. Which means it cannot be pvp only. BUT Raid chest delivery is the PVP part. Picking the chest is not the event. The event is bringing it back. Your pvp event is to find the raiders and sink them. Their goal is to avoid you. It is the PVP pure age of sail pvp. Those who wanted raid to be a pvp 6v6 battle arranged fair battle go to patrols. Raid is an asymmetric event for EVERYONE.

So you say clan can create the battle instance and join from port. And you say clan can give rights to friendly list to join. Great But if the same clan also have 6 alts? So they raid themselves? Locking everyone else out - like it was with port battle flags? What if there are 10 other groups who want to raid the port too? Will clan have enough people to be everywhere? What if there are 6 trolls who join just to waste your time? And everyone just waits for that raid to be over? No i dont need your proposal What you are proposing is content for trolls and alts. Imagine if we allowed parallel port battles for same port. Did you really think your proposal through ? For all outcomes (including people trying to exploit or troll or waste your time?) Do it next time. It will help you to become less annoyed.
  10. You do not need a key if you open the the chest in the raid mission origin. Having said that - we want to make raiding chest carriers interesting without lots of hoops jumping.   12. There is currently no impact on the port. Port richness just determines how lucrative the chest would be. After initial testing we will see if win-lose situations will be added.

And you cannot have the content for everyone if someone can block it for you (alts or other clans) As a result current implementation of the raid most closely resembles the real life. You sail to port, kill some escorts, steal the chest, and take it back. If there are noone patrolling - you safely take the goods and steal them. If there are people patrolling or come prey on your chests - you might lose them to players. You are the players who raid = this means this is potentially a pvp event. So @AeRoTR you can do it. You can turn this even into 100% pvp event. Patrol the raid ports 24 hours a day and make sure you create pvp for everyone. Don't fail the community - Dont be a meme - we all have high hopes on you.

  15. Its a player raid - Players raid the port You steal the chest, you sail back to your port with it in a trading ship, you open the chest. Players do everything. If PVP players come to take it back from you it turns into a pvp mission. You can even patrol the area and stop everyone from taking anything . No Because the mission is for everyone too many announcements will spam too often and will defeat the purpose of the announcement anyway.

Raid creation Raids are small group content - raid is only for 6 people or less Raids are pre-determined and are available on one rich port in the vicinity (by investment or tax) Each region can have 1 - 2 ports that can be raided on that particular day Raids are available for ALL members of the nation which have ports in the vicinity of the raided port Player can take 1 raid mission per day (but can help others participating in their raids) Raids are potentially profitable if you are raiding the rich port (this means not all raids are equal) For future reference lets assume that The raid origination port is Maracaibo - raid mission origin The port to be raided is Cartagena - raided port Raid mechanics Player group (raiding group) of 6 captains sails to the port that can be raided (raided port) and joins the mission (indicated by the sword) Mission spawns 5-6 escort ships including the stationary cargo ship Stationary cargo ship contains the Raid Chest (weight around 3500 tons - to allow for guns and couple of repair cycles) All ships must be destroyed and stationary ship can be captured or looted Players can bring their own indiaman or can just take the stationary ship, repair it and use it or add to fleet Raid chest contains % of port investments (items including combat marks, victory marks and doubloons) Raid chest is capturable This means if you cap the raider (steal the chest) you can deliver it yourself to the raid origination point Because chest is heavy you can easily identify the ship carrying the chest Raid chest must be carried back to the port of the raid initiation If you taken the raid in Maracaibo on Cartagena - raid chest must be brought to Maracaibo. You can open the raided chest in another port if you have the key. Raid chest keys can be obtained by open map activities Raid chest has the timer (like the Deadman chest) - which means you cannot log off and hide with it. Raid chest cannot be opened after the timer expired and becomes useless. Meta gameplay If your nation has available raids for rich ports you just do the raids and use looted goods for game contents or upgrading your ports If your nation does not have good raid missions today due to its location you can arrive to raid area and try to capture the ships that carry the raided goods.

  22. Captains NPC have gathered all pain they experienced since launch and decided to fight back. Here is some information on the NPC port battle raids that will help you prepare so you dont lose ports on first events. War Server Preparation Raiders will only attack on weekends Raiders will only attack most developed ports of top 3 nations (mix of investments and tax rate) There will be 3 NPC port attacks over weekend (1 per top nation) Raiders will ignore all other nations Raiders will only attack within the timer (if no timer is present they will attack at random time) Raiders will announce their intention with the server message (like port battles) the day before Raider attacks will be indicated on map tool in port battle list Raiders will always pick the proper wind for attack Raiders know how to fit the ships and will be very combat worthy If raiders win the battle port becomes neutral. Battle Raider fleet usually will consist of 16-20 Lineships(escort) and 4-6 indiaman (transports) and will split into 2 groups attacking from 2 directions To win the battle raiders will need to gain 1000 points Raiders get the points by controlling the control points AND by reaching the control points Transports get A LOT of points for reaching the circle - currently 250-300 Escort get some points for reaching the circle - currently 25-50 All Raiders also get standard points for staying in the circle Raiders will not fire at forts Points cannot go down but you can slow down the point generation or avoid it by stopping the ships trying to reach the control points Optimal strategy in internal testing was found to be the following Destroy Indiamans as soon as possible and slow down the escorts later destroying them with focus fire one by one Create two groups (and maybe one in reserve) as if one raider group reaches the control zone intact they will win the raid Main Groups should prefer to join the raid far at sea (far from pier) because if groups join from pier they sometimes will NOT have enough time to stop the raiders from reaching the control points having said that joining from pier is also possible but not in all scenarios (depend on port) Reserve group can join from pier and provide support at danger points. Joining far at sea has risks of its own because of potential enemy screens Defending the raids could become an interesting logistical and organizational task if enemy is present (meta) Meta gameplay Smaller nations (especially acting together) can completely stop defenders from joining the raid by screening forcing them to lose invested ports (david vs goliaf scenarios) Smaller nations can attack other ports during the raid times and take them undefended For Peace Server Raiders will attack random ports turning them neutral Hostility will be enabled for neutral ports so clans can capture the ports for themselves Raiders will also attack developed ports from time to time This will achieve the following amazing outcome for the Peace server Both PVE port defense and attacks become possible Port investments become possible (including port bonuses) Port clan control and taxation becomes possible
