Anyways 2X change was addressing one problem and might create another one. I can change it back, because shrinking battle circle can solve the circle strafing problem itself. for those who don't know Circle strafing: Battle starts with 25v25+ towers. Attacker kills all towers and kills 20 ships losing 10 5 enemy ships start running and still win based on a battle rating - while in reality they lost the port, lost the main fleet and lost the towers. Some nations stopped doing shallow water port battles completely because of this problem - it was easy to strafe the circle winning the battle just based on the 3X battle difference This problem was addressed.

Assuming your statement is true you can use them as well right? 3rd rates are free and can be sailed by any midshipman. Bring them and win with ease.

BR 1-2X difference favors the attacker BR 4X+ favors the defender We will find the right balance One of the best solutions is to just eliminate the BR completely but it might prolong the battles much longer. The main goal of the BR difference win condition was to help resolve the battles faster if attacker has a huge ship difference.

I do not understand. You want to let 25 light frigates to win against 25 3rd rates?

br will be adjusted in the future to include the upgrades power and crew size. but not now.

We were solving a particular problem: Where 3 ships could win the lost defensive battle by just sailing around outside of the reach of 10 similar vessels (after they destroyed the whole enemy fleet). With the circle reduction you 1) don't have to chase them anymore 2) you need to sink smaller number of those third rates. Is it a historical realism problem?

You can still win against an under crewed third rate if you are defending. The problem was that people were using fast ships or undecrewed high BR ships to circle strafe winning the defensive battles when the battle was really lost. But we will see how 2x works - its easy to adjust

Hello Captains This is a last hot fix before the promised content update. Port battles - important change Port battles BR difference win condition was sometimes allowing easy wins for defenders. We have applied 2 following changes. 1 - BR difference required to win the battle is 2x now 2 - Battle circle now becomes smaller by the end port battle forcing players who are circle strafing towards the center of the battle - to towers. Circle of death starts shrinking 15 minutes before the end of the port battle! Attacking and defending forces should use precaution when time reaches 15 mins and try to get back to the central area before that (where towers are). This will let players to do less running and more fighting both for the defensive and the attacking side. Other fixes 1. Most chat problems should be finally fixed now 2. Additional tools for chat moderators added (including pre-ban warnings) 3. Production increases for certain lacking resources (fir/hemp/oak)

Privateer is one of the best small ships for solo pvp because it allows you to escape anyone except for another privateer/lynx or maybe smart cutters. But Privateer cannot catch you downwind even if you are at 90% of sails. 2 privateers can stop a solo snow - but it takes skill and lots of time. If you are attacked and exit the battle you have at least 100 seconds invul timer. To sink them you have to do the following Attack them from the wind side on the OW when being right on top of them - this position you very close to them and will force them to either run downwind (you can catch them) or sail upwind through your position (allowing slowing them down with chain). Get a privateer into your fleet - they won't escape at all then - but you still have to attack on OW properly. If you don't want to fight them just sail away at your best angle in the OW - they will never catch up Its impossible for a privateer to dictate terms for a snow on the OW. just sail away at 135 to 180 angle (they lose 40-50% speed). Abusing the chat is different though. If they were saying bad things that are against the chat rules - report those things. -

please send an email to support we will handle those cases also - we plan to limit the mission level in shallow water towns soon (probably next big patch) perhaps you should wait if it is just because of missions. shooting friendly NPCs is also an option yes. but might take time

some ports don't have orders available even if they are shown in the interface. its a bug in a mission generation system - those ports don't know where to spawn the order location and previously they just dumped them near harbor entrance allowing easy mission farming. Cayo romano was one of such ports.

I don't want to take out your gold mate You said something about investing a lot into port conquest - which most likely paid off with resources and tower damage.

At least 1 full port map reset might happen in the future or maybe two. + 1 more on the release on the game. And we don't really know how the final conquest will look like. TLDR - don't get to attached to ports.

As a tester and a early access player you should not worry about the gold - you know how it worked in the past and it will work well in the future. Bad designs will be wiped out by evolutions or revolutions, and somebody will always lose something making a game better as a result We all should worry about making the game better and not about personal conquest or gains. The damage to Spain is irreparable but can be partially diminished. PS. Remember that we only promised xp/rank to be safe forever. We will keep that promise.

He is a pirate It is a system glitch that does not switch the contraband trader flag in battle - so everyone who joins on the contraband trader side gets his flag (brit flag) - his name is red and he is on the opposite side in tab. But yes could be confusing initially.

Rumors surfaced that Spanish armies that were busy with the rebellion in the Lower Andes are moving in from the south with the support of the natives and Portuguese colonial forces. Partisan movement have started on several formerly Spanish areas. Several undermanned garrisons were slaughtered by the rebels that escaped into the mountains after american support came in. More info later.
