Crafting and blueprint changes

it won't level unlocks ships up to ships of the line. Ships of the line blueprints can be bought from the admiralty. -
Hotfix will be deployed today (26th of April) to testbed. Hold load now affects speed and acceleration. Cannons affect hold. (Hold numbers and weights are not final and will be updated more this week). Cannons now can be crafted (workshop required). Longs and carronades can only be crafted by players and are not available from NPCs. Contracts on cannons can be placed now. Military NPCs now sometimes drop repairs as loot Medkit was replaced by RUM (why did not we think of it the first time). Surgeon now needs rum to fix sailors (or cut them). Medkit blueprint eliminated Sugar added to all regions as resource. Other details will follow (will update the post in a bit) Pickle and Privateer now require basic cutter to unlock 3rd slot (not lynx and not cutter as before) Updated Boarding preparation growth increased Perk points are given to player faster - you will get 10 perk points 2x earlier. Crew requirement lowered on 4lb,6lb and 12lb carronades Tow to nearest deep water port do not check the hold weight any more 4th rate ports and shallow water regional (county) capitals now spawn national NPCs Redwood logs and forests abandoned; blueprints using redwood now use lignum Pine is merged with Fir and is now Fir from today. There are storm instances but there are no big waves. First reason - no-one fought during big waves, sometimes even cutting off masts to survive. second reason - All instances have the same water and synced day night cycle. Also you don't see it but to save money instance pools use certain resources for multiple instances. Like water Wonder tech basically. But no storm instances. If we want to create big waves we have to stop servers and all waves become storm waves for a day. But it does not stop there. Weather engine to be beautiful at all times has to be hand painted by an artist. Thus he has to repeat his last 12 months of work just for storms. Huge waves are not coming in this game. Keep your expectations low.

as i said. if you shoot sails from distance you will achieve nothing. even with equal speed you will not out damage repairs no more stupid 1 hour chases where even rattlesnake can slow you down over 1 hour to the point where his slow ships escorts can get to you.

a lot of players preferred pew pew demast from distance. Like 2 rattles trying to demast/remove sails a heavy frigate from 1000 yards. Good luck now.

we will first merge it as fir and then rename fir to pine - (it just easier to eliminate fir by first eliminating pine as pine is only used in 2 bps and fir is used in a lot more items in crafting)

Dear captains Please provide examples of cases (ship vs ship) where a certain vessel cannot chase (gain on) another vessel properly despite the fact that it is faster in instance. Example - Ship A has 14 speed, Ship B has 12 speed in instance at certain angle. Despite this fact Ship A cannot chase Ship B at the same angle in the open world (being for some reason slower) We want to investigate those cases one by one and remove this imbalance.

considering to make it from food supplies and barells - basically provisions (maybe will add tobacco and rum) because provisions will be needed to craft ships as well. it will simplify crafting of medkits drastically we will also add tobacco and sugar in a lot more places if in the end tobacco and rum is needed for medkits we also are eliminating pine (as it is basically some type of fir) and eliminating redwood (lignum will replace it in blueprints of furnishing) this will free up 2 buildings as well

well. they forged guns straight from iron ore i believe. Smelted a long object and then drilled the whole in it, and then added reinforcement rings.

cannons require iron and coal to make we are not sure about adding gunpowder to the blueprints yet. as it will drastically increase the time needed to make them

another thing is that they were awesome 1-2 times for many players. The participation rates was extremely low. Most players who encountered a storm battle just exited the battle leaving their ship stationary.

big waves were only possible in the standardized instance that was separate from everything = from the lobby. That instance was fixed - set in stone, because it did not need to change night and day and weather. If we change night and day and weather - we cannot change geometry of waves on the go. Because of that heavy waves storms are impossible in the current generation of water and weather and night and day cycle.

well what you described requires so much coordination that we doubt its feasible to do. Also just bringing lets day 14 lineships against them will turn their cutters into a huge disadvantage.
