  1. This topic is about good fights. Not night flips being good or bad, not unfounded accusations of wrongdoing, not about bugs that are currently being fixed. Further off topic posts will result in a warning. Regarding exploiting and cheating. All accusations of exploits or cheating are to be posted in the Tribunal, WITH acceptable proof. Accusations are not to be made in the forums at large, nor are unfounded, unproven accusations. If you have proof, great, go to Tribunal and post it. If instead you're going to run around pointing fingers and causing problems, you'll find your ability to post curtailed. You can view the new rule here: Let's get back on topic.
  2. Thanks for the heads up. Looks like the security certificate lapsed. I'll point it out to the Developers.
  3. Personally, I'd like to see those that intentionally abused the exploit to have fairly serious punishments levied against them. I'll be making that recommendation, but it's not my call to make.
  4. The Developers are aware of this, and they're watching. For now, ignore conspiracy theories - exploits are fixed very quickly once they're identified, and this one was brought to our attention today. It's being fixed as we speak and I wouldn't recommend abusing it.
  5. I'd be violating an NDA. Keep speculating though, and provide input where possible on how you'd reverse the trend you're seeing.
  6. Interesting guess. Not logical, but interesting.
  7. This sounds a lot like something between you and the servers is dropping packets. I have this problem a lot with my cruddy wireless router when I'm not hardwired into my network.
  8. Definitely read and continue the discussion on the post that Powderhorn linked. Locking as a duplicate.
  9. Hah, the gleam in a Captain's eye when he saw a lawful prize on the horizon made everyone at the time rather "piratical" (though admittedly an enemy naval vessel treated honorably captured sailors and officers with a fair amount of kindness and goodwill). National naval vessels sacking an enemy port and stealing anything not nailed down isn't unheard of.
  10. Glad to hear it was that easy to sort out!
  11. Ok, looks like everything has started back up and the Wiki is back in action. If you have any further problems, please let me know.
  12. Hi there. The host provider for the server had to service the hardware it runs on due to a problem. For whatever reason, the server doesn't appear to have booted up after they brought up the hardware. I'm troubleshooting it now.
  13. More players playing is better for everyone. Thanks for posting.
  14. People paid for this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=259130636 A promise that new things like ships would be added to the game forever was never made, nor is it reasonable. Paid expansions are completely normal in video games - additional ship packs can be thought of as paid expansions if you like. Either way, this idea that somehow the community is entitled to new things forever at no additional cost is a fallacy.
  15. I can't say yes or no to that question at this time (the moderators don't know the answer to that question). I think the results of this first Kickstarter will be used to establish the answer to that question.
  16. Doesn't matter. Either way, you have to pay someone to generate new ships. It costs money. The kickstarter will allow people to put their money where their mouth is. If they really want a ship (or certain ships of a nation) badly enough, they can pay to have those ships added to the game. GL doesn't have to rely on new sales to fund new ship development, and they don't have to sweat paying modelers for ships that may not generate new revenue in game sales. With regards to Constitution - you have a complete, working ship in the game. Maybe its model isn't as good as some of the later ships, but that's it. It's in the game and working fine. If you want a more snazzy Connie, then enough people will have to be willing to plonk down some money for her. There's no harm in everyone saying "no" and not paying for it - but Connie is already in game as promised. Promise made, promise kept.
  17. I have updated the title. As always, please limit responses only to providing additional factual evidence, or a rebuttal by the accused parties.
  18. Interesting. Thanks for sending the bug report - the Devs will definitely be taking a look.
  19. My job on these forums, as I've explained in the past, is to enforce the rules. The rule is - flat out - chat violations are to be reported via the in-game report system, NOT on Tribunal. Ink has posted himself today in response to a Chat-based Tribunal thread this very statement. This is not negotiable.
  20. This is still considered swearing. Just don't use those words when addressing your fellow Captains, it's that easy.
  21. This incident is under review by the Admiralty. Further evidence or a rebuttal/apology by the accused should be the only posts in this thread. Warnings will be issued for spam/off topic posts. Thank you.
  22. Thank you for your patience. While I know there were a number of incidents with this player, he has since discussed his actions with the Admiralty and apologized. We have heard of no additional wrongdoing since then, case is dismissed.
  23. I'll add that having diagrammed the wind and boat positions out, it is very possible for him to go backwards at that angle. It appears to me that his sails are backed, that's how he went backwards - it's something anyone can do with manual sails with the wind at the correct angle.
  24. I can pretty much guarantee he wasn't cheating. But until we can communicate better with you, it's hard to explain how things work.
  25. n_Ka - is there another language that you speak that might allow us to help you better? We're having a very difficult time figuring out what you're saying.
