  1. I've said it before - I'd rather have 10 ships sailing in a fleet than 10 people on my ship.
  2. So it's not worth discussing? We could go through countless threads and say "that's not important to fix right now, stop talking about it". This is the Suggestions forum, it's for making suggestions. Let the Developers handle the schedule, and we'll keep on making suggestions.
  3. Windward - The Direction from which the wind is blowing. Anything upwind of you is windward. Leeward (Loo-wurd) - The direction to which the wind is blowing. Anything downwind of you is leeward or in your lee.
  4. I knew the Yacht didn't, for some reason I thought the Cutter had two masts. Must have been the Lynx I was thinking of.
  5. Smoke should hide names. Agreed with that sentiment.
  6. War Thunder tends to kill you with a few hits though too. Planes do not have much resiliency. As I've stated before, I oppose this usage of the telescope because Captains of the era had other officers to collect this information for them. We shouldn't have to stare at a ship through a telescope to gain more information - that's reported to us by our Officers.
  7. Multi-masted "ships" such as the Cutter use those keys for the main mast boom, with the other keys for the mizzen mast boom.
  8. Congratulations on amazing success!!!!! To those left waiting, my deepest condolences, but look on the bright side, the game isn't going to fail any time soon with so much interest.
  9. I'm a fellow in the industry as well, and yes, you're absolutely correct on that one.
  10. You didn't miss anything - the purchasing system is quite rudimentary at the moment. I'm not sure about the next batch of keys - it's usually in the evening Kiev time on Friday, so I would think you'd get yours tomorrow at the latest. Take a moment to make sure the email in your profile on PayPal is current and correct.
  11. Yup, I've made that mistake multiple times, both in game and out. It's especially apparent when I'm under stress during a game and call something windward that's leeward.
  12. We already have bos'ns calls for loaded guns, and collisions. They're repetitive enough, adding voices would be too repetitive IMO - most folks would probably turn them off after a short bit.
  13. Read threads by Admin on the forums (use the search feature). It's the only way right now.
  14. You could load the ship to the gun'ls with men, but you're going to have a hard time fighting her. If the old ship was sinking, I'd like to see a "maximum crew" number for a ship. That number should be broken down into max and can still fight (which will be greater than the maximum it can carry comfortably as a "war loadout"), and flat out pack them cheek to jowl (saving crew from another sinking ship after a boarding). Any crew remaining on the sinking ship get into the boats to float around until the battle is over (and can optionally attempt to sail to a nearby port with a random percentage lost that goes up exponentially with distance). To say you should be able to board a Lynx from a Trincomalee and take all your crew with you isn't something I want to see.
  15. Right now, the wind is a fixed speed. Changing wind speeds are planned for the future I believe. We're hoping for gusts - but not until they implement rig damage. If I'm going to fly everything, and get a gust, something should carry away. I don't know about left and right, other than it may be more approachable for players new to boats in general. That said, I think, for the period, you meant to say Starboard and Larboard.
  16. Ramming or being rammed in small ships needs to be looked at. A ship the size of Trincomalee ramming Lynx amidships at 8 kts should likely equal a destroyed Lynx. Last night, had a Lynx drop sails to rake my bow, I hit him full force, and he brought me to zero knots, three ships pounded me while I was held there and sunk, and he sailed off happily. Probably not working as intended.
  17. The game isn't graphically optimized just yet, but this is good data for the Devs.
  18. That would explain it too! Thanks for double checking.
  19. Was it also possible that the range between you and your target was changing? I've had a similar thing happen when the range increased slightly while I was waiting for my ranging shot to fall.
  20. Unfortunately that card will not support the game. Very sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
  21. If your video drivers are up to date, you very likely need a new video card.
  22. Forgot about shader model. Wiki has those as having Shader model 5, but buyer beware.
  23. If they don't have avatars or pictures at all, that's fine. I'm totally good with that. I only argue for inclusion from the standpoint of if they add such things. That's partly why I think we're all arguing from totally different standpoints here. I don't think we all have the same overall vision.
  24. Perhaps we're all arguing from a different standpoint. From an end-game perspective, here are my thoughts: Characters should be able to have female names. Avatar "portraits" (a la Eve Online prior to ambulation) should have female options. 3d avatars that are in game should have an option for female features. Bear in mind, this really doesn't require all that much extra effort - you're adding two chest lumps to an otherwise (optionally) less muscular male human model. From a uniform standpoint, yes, it's guesswork. But it's not that hard - a first pass could just use the male uniforms. They were pretty spiffy and would like fine on a woman. Special treatment? Having something that a female gamer (or a male gamer that wanted to play a female role - there's more of those than you might think) can subconsciously relate to shape-wise is important.
